Newbie RC4 questions

Featured Replies

I have a couple of questions about RC4, but before I go further and get flamed, a couple of disclaimers. First: Yes, I have read the manual. Cover to cover over the past three weeks (just received RC4 yesterday). Second: I may even be asking the questions wrong in terms of correct ATC procedures. This is simply due to my only exposure to ATC, real or otherwise, has been the FS9 default over the past 12 months. I see where the manual talks about getting your clearance once airborne if the airfield is uncontrolled and conditions are VFR. This is not the same as a complete VFR flight, correct? Does RC4 provide

Brad,>>I see where the manual talks about ...This is not the same as a complete VFR flight, correct?<<"Complete VFR flight"? No. I'm not sure what you mean by that terminology. If you mean VFR FF, no. RCv4 in no way supports VFR FF. We're allowing you to takeoff an uncontrolled field in VFR conditions (we watch the wx and give the option if it's VFR), and call for your IFR once airborne.>>Does RC4 provide

I like the feature of being able to file/re-file enroute in FS9. I pick a NRST airfield as the from and usually GPS Direct to the destination so I can get some appraoch practice or get well lined up for a strange airport. FS9 recognizes you are aloft and just states "cleared as filed" and gets me into the system.I suppose to do this with RC you would need tighter cordination with FS flight plans. Perhaps a simple "adopt current GPS flight plan" would work? Or perhaps RC could monitor the FS directory for new flight plans? You always have to save any GPS route so the recently changed file should always be the new route. The ability to monitor file changes is getting easier and if RC ever goes to .Net Framework it will be builtin.

With RC there is an option, once in flight, to request to change destination to any airport you want to go to.All the best,John
