December 25, 200520 yr I was assigned 18,000 feet on descent today ( or FL180) and when I got there I hit the B key which reset the altimeter to the local altimeter setting. I then started getting a lecture from ATC about watching my altitude. As I would drift up and down by a couple of hundred feet, hitting the B key would boounce me between 29.92 and the local setting. Here is my question, when do you go from 29.92 to local barometer, at 18,000 or when assigned below 18,000 like 17,000 for instance? By the way, did I get a chewing out when I finally landed :)
December 25, 200520 yr Bob,The PCA in the States, is AOA FL180. That's *at* FL180 and higher. If you're assigned that altitude, 2992's still appropriate.

December 25, 200520 yr Bob,Off topic but you can call yourself lucky. You got a chance to fly.I thought to grab another flighthour tonight so I prepared my flight out of Denver CO to Walker Field.Taxied to the runway 17L and held short.... for more than 35 minutes... and still no takeoff clearance. At the end I called it a day and shut my pc down. So much precious fuel wasted for nothing.Next time, I think I'll fly without RC4. I like the realism but too much is too much.Still, the team did a terrific job so I guess it comes down to find a compromise between real AI traffic ans Real ATC. A hard one to crack...Luc 'Glaudrung' Brusselmans
December 25, 200520 yr Commercial Member were there other takeoffs and landings going on, on 17Lyou can always change to a runway that isn't being usedare you using special scenery? did you rebuild the scenery database? it's possible, that the scenery you have has the thresholds in different locations. i might not think you're anywhere near the threshold.lot's of possibilities.jd JD Read my blog
December 25, 200520 yr When I first got RC4, I held short for about 15 minutes and finally realized I was at the wrong runway... .......:-eek
December 25, 200520 yr Commercial Member important to use that little cheat on advdisp which shows bearing and distance to where you're supposed to be going :-) JD Read my blog
December 25, 200520 yr John,Oh yes, I was at the right treshold. I know for sure because when I turned onto the runway (without clearance) I got myself a reprimande that still rings in my ears... And traffic was landing all the time (about one plane every three minutes or so) but I couldn't be squeezed in between by ATC.And when I finally thought it was possible, the plane landing took sooooo long to vacate the runway that the next plane came in for landing.Requests for another runway were not possible because I stood on the treshold and the RC4 menu didn't show that option anymore. To be honest, I'm running Ultimate Traffic AI on full 100 % and since it was Denver Co we are talking about here, I should have been prepared. It should teach me, squeezing in an extra hour flighttime between cores...Thanks for a great programLuc 'Glaudrung' Brusselmans
December 26, 200520 yr Regarding taxi speeds, I saw this on the FlightSim.com forum the other day...Download FS9 Configurator and set the taxi speed to a higher number. The AI sits on the runway too long.http://www.kensalter.com/fs9configurator/
