December 27, 200520 yr After some flights with the new RCV4 (I never owned RC3), I'm very impressed with the forward leap in realism this program brought to my simming experience. While the overall impression is absolutely excellent (in my opinion it is really worth every single cent of its price), I would like to point out some very small things that could be improved in future updates:1-the "we'll give them a call" phrase is really shocking (this has been broght up in other threads): surely a "will call Tower (Approach,Departure,Ground,Center,Control)" would be more realistic.2-the ability to tell controller "approaching FLxxx (or xxx altitude)" just to let him know that we would prefer not to level off during climb or descent would be nice. I see in other threads that someone is complaining to be too often recleared to a higher/lower altitude just before levelling off...I noted this too, but is realistic for me (I got this "treatment" about 1/3 of the times)3-the chance to have "quadrantal MSAs" (that is: different MSA values for different quadrant around the airport) would greatly enhance the realism4-the ATIS should also report the observation time ("local ATIS at....Z") and when LVP (low visibility procedures) are in effect: this could be triggered by visibility/ceiling dropping below a certain value5-the ability to hear the controller, in case of LVP procedures in effect, that the weather is below CAT1 minima, that CAT2 or 3 ops are in progress and even to ask if the plane/pilot is authorized to carry on an higher category approach7-an improved "ground ATC service": this too has been pointed out in other threads, but surely here an improvement would be welcome. The improvement should include taxiing instructions a little bit more detailed than "taxi to rwy xx or to the ramp" and - but I think this could be VERY difficult, giving that AI is artificial but not intelligent - some more "authority" on the AI movements even on the ground (well, I know that's the pilot responsbility to keep a very attenttive eye of the traffic around his plane, but these AI crafts seem to do whatever they wish to impede a nice circulation on the ground!)8-the chance of having more airport name spoken completely and not just the 119 or so included9-the chance of having pilots/controller speak the names at least of the navigational aids (VORs mainly): a huge work I think in recording all the wavs...One more improvement could be a correct way of implementing the oceanic/remote control procedures...but these are procedural and not radar environments...and the name of the program is "Radar Contact" so, I don't know if this could be done...Anyway, thanks to you all in the Radar Contact team for this outstanding program !!!!Have a very nice 2006 !
December 27, 200520 yr Commercial Member i've added your comments/suggestions to the 4.1 folder. don't be surprisesed if many of these are addressed in that releasejd JD Read my blog
December 27, 200520 yr JD,for what I've seen so far of this marvellous add-on, I would be surprised if many more improvements (of which I cannot dream of) will not be included in the next release !RCV4 is really amazing ! It changed the way I'm simming, in a much more realistic way !Thumbs up and...I'll add a "RC" banner in the next update of my signature !!!!!
