January 22, 200620 yr Recently approaching KPDX 28L from the north, I requested short final as soon as I was told I would get vectors to the runway. Flying Airbus 320. I was given vectors to one mile from the runway to intercept the ILS. No way I could do it.Greg Greg Clark

Short final is something you should only request on downwind and once beyond the threshold of the landing runway. When approved for a short final RC4 allows you to make an early turn to final. I ONLY use it when conditions allow me to make a visual approach/landing.-michael
