February 3, 200620 yr I am fifth in line for takeoff and the tower tells me position and hold. I know that is not right. I think it is more like forth for departure and when you get to the line either position and hold or cleared for takeoff. No one in front of me taking off and the tower is telling me to position and hold. I know that is wrong too. Would the term not be cleared for takeoff. When reaching the line. Why does ground turn you over to tower when you still taxing to the runway and still a ways off. When I was flying when I got close to the departure line than I would change over to tower frequency.Missing callsign...NavyPilatusMeridianLifeguardAlso, maybe a fifth and sixth catagory with heavy, prop, turboprop, etc. Would be military. Military does not have the restrictions of 250 speed restriction and lifeguard with priority.
February 3, 200620 yr This may not be related, but worth a mention: I just had the experience of being told to line up and wait, then simply ignored. No word from Tower. Made cup of coffee. Still no word. Incoming aircraft was given go-around by FS-ATC but not by RC. That gave me the clue. RC didn't know I was on the runway. Why not? I realised I had just installed add-on scenery for this airport but had omitted to rebuild the RC Database. I guess the add-on runway was in a slightly different position from the default, so RC was unable to detect where I was. Strange that I didn't get an earful for (seemingly) ignoring instructions.Anyway, did a rebuild and it worked fine. Happy flying.Brian
