February 15, 200620 yr Hi all. just wanted to give my experiences with 4.01. The install was pretty smooth after getting the download. I just waited until everyone went to bed...then I started the download and went to bed! The only "concern" was that it asked me to request a key. I basically decided to ignore it and everything seems to work fine. Also...It reinstalled FSUIPC, and afterward, I had to re-calibrate my joystick.I just completed a short flight from Honolulu to Molokai, with the FSD Cheyenne 400LS. I also ran AISmooth, and FS Meteo. I started off by using "SmartClose". Everything went without a hitch. No real studders or anything. There is a bit of a delay, but with the smooth voices...I can live with it. I have integrated sound and the machine was really being put through it's paces. Lots of clouds and layers, and hazy conditions, but everything ran smooth. I did not check my FSP's because i don't really care what they are, as long as everything is smooth with no noticeable video delays. I requested the visual into Molokai, and after shutdown, I atually heard the word "excellent" when my flight was being critiqued. RCv4.01...as advertised on my system. Thanks JD.PS. JD...I'm finally understanding the reasoning for the long downwinds. Thanks for your patience. i wish you would have explained it sooner. It would have saved you and me a lot of wear and tear on our fingers!MikeDell demention 8400 P4 3.0 G6800. 1 meg ram. intergrated sound.

February 15, 200620 yr JD...are you referring to the downwind issue or the stutter (or is it studder?) /hesitation issue?mike
February 15, 200620 yr hi JD,First of all as you can see I am a new user. but have to say product is unbelievably brilliant. Only had RC three weeks run it with the PMDG planes only plus the vfr scenery series ect . As for your update 4.01 not one prob from install ( no registration request ) just a straight forward install workin perfectly. suppose the guys who are having probs will prob envy me/us. Theres is an advert on television over here in England which says " Does exactly what it says on the tin " well JD mine does so thanks . thanks again, neville. englandEGNT newcasltle - international
February 16, 200620 yr Hi, I am one of those who seem to be noticing an appreciable delay between individual syllables in a spoken word and between the words themselves eg (syd--ney---tow--er, instead of sydney tower) I'm not technically clued but I think my soundcard is "Creative SB Audio PLC (WDM)" Is this an "integrated" card as there seems to be a mention somewhere of the type of card having an influence on the speed?
February 16, 200620 yr Commercial Member i have no idea. do your speakers plug into a card (like a pci card) where all the other cards are on the back of your pc, or do they plug into a plug that is no where near where the cards are?jd JD Read my blog
February 16, 200620 yr The speakers plug into a phone jack on the back of the pc. Perhaps I am expecting too much but I would have assumed that speech quality would be similar to that in the FS9 ATC?
February 16, 200620 yr Commercial Member it is, if the sound is offloaded to the sound card, instead of making the motherboard cpu do the sound processing.jd JD Read my blog
