February 16, 200620 yr Hey JD. Did the Union get ahold of you or something? These darn co-pilots you hired don't do a darn thing! He flies the easy enroute stuff, and then about 50 miles out, when things get dicey, he gives it back to me. If that's not bad enough, I'm in a valley, at night,in the clouds, shooting an approach to minimums, and he won't even handle the comm for me. Lazy no good jackass. I'm wasting fuel hauling his butt around!mike
February 16, 200620 yr Commercial Member there are situations where the co-pilot will turn back the plane. and i don't know of any situation where the comms are handed back to you.can you elaborate on your situation?jd JD Read my blog
February 16, 200620 yr I was flying from Oceania to a aircraft carrier and approaching the aircraft carrier Otto handed the coms back to me.
February 16, 200620 yr Never got to approach with Otto....when I was still with center at approx 24 miles out, Otto turned the comms back to me.
February 16, 200620 yr I was shooting the ILS 19 approach into Jackson Hole WY. Center terminated service and handed me off to the tower. Shortly after, Otto gave the comms back to me. Don't remember the exact time, i was busy. I thought it was kind of weird. I'm possitve I didn't do it because it is a pretty specific key stroke to make that happen.
February 16, 200620 yr One of the scenarios Otto "quits" is if you select an IAP approach. If memory serves, another is a VA. There's a few more. It's been like this since v2. There is logic involved; it's unlikely we'll ever change this part of the code. But I do recall someone in v3 saying he'd given the comms back to Otto and all worked fine. Not tested but you might try it.
