June 3, 200620 yr Hi,I'm in the Dreamfleet Baron en route from Sofia (Bulgaria) to Makedonia (Greece), I'm told to cross 40 miles from TSL at 6,000 feet. I set NAV 2 to TSL, switch the DME to NAV2 and start descending - the DME shows I'm 67 miles away when I start my descent, ATC tells me I've busted my altitude when the DME is showing 42 miles from TSL (I was at 6,300 feet). If the Controller reports me to the FAA, I reckon I've got a case to say he called it too early, haven't I?SysA
June 3, 200620 yr Commercial Member what was the transition altitude, transition level, and what altitude did you set the standard pressure? JD Read my blog
June 3, 200620 yr I don't remember those details, my flight plan called for an altitude of 12,000 feet and I was at that when I was told to cross 40 miles from TSL at 6,000 feet, I had my altimeter set to QNH. My point is that the controller chided me for busting my altitude when, according my DME, I was still more than 40 miles away from TSL.SysA
