January 31, 200719 yr Helo,I have been using RC4 since early RC3. It has been almost flawless in operation but in the last couple of weeks a bizarre problem has arisen.RC4 is on a WideFS machine. I also use ASV6, Flight Keeper, GE Pro on the WideFS machine and TrackIR, FDC Live Cockpit, UT Europe, Game Commander 2 on the FS machine. All these have worked with no problem with RC4.The problem is that I start up RC4 and it informs me I have a pilot and or co pilot selected as a controller and that I should deselect them. I did not alter these settings at all. I have reset them and saved the changes but the problem still arises. Also, I had a error 76 problem that JD looked at just prior to his sad loss. He felt that RC4 was not pointed to my flt.wx folder. I corrected this but this error too is recurring. I have redirected RC4 to my Flt/wx folder and then run RC4 and the error still occurs.Even without these errors cropping up, which is probaly one in five attemps, RC4 typically gets to a point where ground clear me to hold at the active runway and RC4 freezes. The runway length indiacted on ADVtext then starts to increase the further I get from the runnway.I have completed a full reinstall of RC4, including Chatter Files for a good part of Europe. The chatter files are the only modifications I have made. I have downloaded and installed all new controllers, pilots and UK callsign updates and am running 4.2.381. and version 3.7.1.0 of FSUIPC.Please help!! All advice greatly appreciated.BestDave

February 1, 200719 yr Hello John,Screen shots attached. The checked boxes are those that the programme has defaulted to, not the ones I would ordinarily check.ThanksBestDave

February 1, 200719 yr Hi John,I have carried a short flight from Crete to Athens.RC4 worked well but I did suffer a freeze on approach. I do not know if it was caused by RC4 or not.I was asked to descend to 4000 fly heading 035, this instruction got stuck in a loop, constantly repeating.I closed everything down and re-opened RC4 and looked at the voices set up. Without intervetion from me the settings had changed. Bryan Opalka was selected pilot, Lou Ross Co Pilot, controllers changed as did the chatter pilots. My set up is usually pretty robust, I do not often get freezes. The only addon recently added is the Aerosoft AES, but that does not affect Greece.Hope this helps.BestDave
February 2, 200719 yr Commercial Member just for grins, and troubleshooting purposes, can you install rc on your fs machine, and run it there?jd JD Read my blog
February 4, 200719 yr Hi John,Okay job done, I carried out a complete install on the FS computer of RC4, bringing it up to date with all pilots, UK Callsigns and airports as well as updating to 4.2.3831. The results are as follows:I started RC4, chose the pilots, controllers etc., then closed RC4. I reopened RC4 and the message came up you have a pilot and controller witht the same name etc.etc. I made the change closed the programme and then restarted, that error message has not been repeated. My chosen controllers have stayed as selected. That is the good news!I have tried three flights, all have not gone well. The first one RC4 just froze after directing me to contact departure. Up to that point all was well. The next two flights suffered from the same problem.I started the flight got to the point where ATC directed me to hold at the active, RC4 then stopped working. An error message came up as follows; winwood99whitepoint05.wavtmpwavefile.divisor=0 clicking OK brought the next error message; Run time error '6' Radar Contact.fsuipc.rc4codeI reset RC4 and it was fine until on final when the same error came up.The second flight resulted in the same error but this time on contacting approach. I also noticed that RC4 is not directing me to the same runway as indicated by ASV6 as being the acive.Hope this helps.BestDave
February 4, 200719 yr Commercial Member do you have a winwood99whitepoint05.wav?did you make a .log? can you send it to me?are you using the "silent pilot" set by any chance?from this description, you have an improperly formatted .wav file in one of your directories.make a .log, description at the top of forum, duplicate the problem, send me the .logi can at least tell you what directory, maybe even the file that has a problemjd JD Read my blog
February 4, 200719 yr Hi John,Thanks for the reply.Yes there is a winwood99whitepoint05.wav file on the FS machine, but it will not play in MS Media Player or Nero wav editor. There is also a winwood99whitepoint05.wav on the wide fs machine along with a winwood99whitepoint01.wav which is not on the fs machine. The wide FS files play using MS Media player no problem.Sorry I did not make a log but I will repeat the last flight and make one.I do not know what the silent pilot is, so I do not think I am utilising it. I do not use the pilot wav files or pilot autoreply.I will create a log. Many thanksDave
