Saving RC4 files

Featured Replies

As a new RC4 user I'm very impressed with the ATC realism but am confused about saving RC4 files even after reading the previous post on this subject. I have saved several RC4 flight with all three methods suggested on page 120 of the RCV4 pdf file. Those saved with the default ";" key could be found in the default My Documents/Flight Simulator Files folder as type "WX". Those saved with the other two RC4 key combination could not be found after shuting down and reloading RC4.To what folder should the RCV4 flights to be saved? The example on page 120 shows a folder named "Flight Simulator files on Yoda" which I assume was a user created folder. This Page also shows the data type as Radar Contact Data but I do not see any files of this type in the My Documents/Flight Simulator file or other folders. My "Pause on Task switch" box is not checked in the Settings window and I changed the autoload cfg time to 180 sec as suggested.Any help would be appreciated.

the save files have a .rcd extenstionthey have to go into the same directory as the .flt/.wx files aremake sure the path you specify when you click the .flt/.wx button is where the .flt and .wx files are stored (usually a folder call flight simulator files in the my documents directory)are you a widefs configuration? or is rc running on the same machine as fs?jd

Thanks for replying to my question.RC4 is running on the same winxp machine as FS9.My AutoSave.cfg contents are:[user]Interval=60Files=0;AlsoFile=My Last Flightalsosave=Restart 3 Minutes AgoAlsoInterval=180[Files]Next=1 *****************************************************************Using the CTR-Shift-; I can now save a Tutorial flight as a .RC4 type file and confirm it being saved in the MY Documents/Flight Simulator Files folder as seen in Windows Explorer. However, when I closed RC4 and re-opened it again, the saved RC4 file will not display in this folder when pressing the "load Previously Saved RCDs" button.... unless I type "*.rc4" in the file name window. But when this file is highlighted and the open button pressed I get an RC4 error saying file was not found --- even though it was displayed and selected as described. Also, the Save/Load example in Tutorial 2 shows saving a RC4 file with the ";" key and naming it "tut2 1 2m MKL FL220 Otto-me H100%". However, this file name is not in view in the displayed folder "Flight Simulator Files on Yoda". I'm guessing this is the My/Documents/Flight Simulator Files folder on a computer named "YODA". What is confusing about this example is that all other files I have saved with the ";" or Save Flight menu selection result in a file being saved as a Microsoft A Microsoft Flight Simulator Application type ...not a rc4 type. I have no problem saving flights with the ";" key or Save Flights menu but can you show an alternate way to save and load an .rc4 type file other than what is shown in the RC4 manual or tutorial 2?I apologize for the verbose message but wanted to explain what I see acurately. Thanks for any suggestions

.rc4 file is not the same as a .rcd filethe .rc4 file stores particular information about the .pln you loaded and the options you set.the .rcd file stores the save rc information while inflightwhat other programs are you running with rc and fsfind the post at the top of the forum about creating a .logfollow those steps, duplicate the problem you're having saving .rcD files and send me the .logjd

Thank you again. I may be confusing .rc4 and .rcd file types. I'll look into this and send a log shortly. My son, who is a Gulstream Captain and former American Airplines pilot watched me fly one of your Tutorials today and was extremely impressed with the professional controller diaglog in RC4. Having spent 33 years with FAA - the last 15 at Altlanta Center, I wholeheartly agree. You have done an excellent job with this program and I recommend it to all flight Simulator Enthusiasts.I found about RC4 on our Delta Virtual Airline discussion forum.
