May 7, 200719 yr Is it possible that future versions of RC may correctly handle redispatched flights ?Redispatching is widely used on long-hauls to reduce fuel uploading by selecting an initial destination (closer to dep airport than the intended "final" one) and a redispatch fix convenientely located, approaching which, if wx/ATC considerations allow and fuel required to proceed from RF fix to final destination is checked OK, the flight is redispatched to his final destination. This procedure allows lower reserves, thus allowing higher payloads to be carried and lower fuel uploads, saving fuel burn and costs.A correctly handling of a redispatched flight in RC would require the pilot (who should have "talked" to his Company's dispatcher), when approaching the RF fix, usually about 1 hr before reaching it, say around 400 NM out - to communicate to the relevant ATC center that the flight is being redispatched (or not) to the final destination and RC would handle the remainder of flight as usual. In case the flight cannot be redispatched (fuel at RF is less than required to safely continue to final destinantion and land there with the prescribed reserves, taking into account wx and/or ATC considerations) and has to proceed to the initial destination, RC should be able to handle the routing from the RF to the initial destination not as direct route (as would happen now by requesting a diffrent destination when enroute), but as the one filed. Comments welcome.
May 7, 200719 yr Commercial Member this would certainly add another degree of realism. but v5 requirements are pretty well locked in. probably a v6 thingjd JD Read my blog
May 10, 200719 yr Hopefully AI voice will get suppressed. I would dearly love to see traffic control on the ground too. Maybe it's not possible, but would be a very nice addition.
