July 5, 200718 yr The addition of "Clear out of controlled airpace..." and "Clear down to ..." ~ whatever altitude; sector, MOCA, MEA etc. "In event of a missed, I'd like ~altitude~ to my alternate" Simply, more for flights into / out of controlled airspace.I fly all types but primarily lighter, lower level GA types with VOR/ADF/GPS.Great product, thanks for it.Regards,Larry
July 5, 200718 yr Commercial Member i've added it to the list.if time/resources permit, we'll see what we can do. we will definately add the necessary scripts to be recorded, so that if it doesn't make it in the code, it can be added without having to do a lot of new wavsjd JD Read my blog
July 6, 200718 yr I like this idea for a wish list thread.I've been frustrated with the overly restrictive descent clearances tha are issued. Being given a crossing restriction 30 miles downstream is just not realistic in today's environment. When you combine that with the fact that the survey shows a huge majority of your customers flying FMS-equipped aircraft, you should let the FMS do its job.I've been in ATC for 30 years and I break out in hives when my sim experience isn't realistic.thanks,Joel
July 6, 200718 yr Commercial Member you can always ask for th descent to be at pilot's discretion, and see if he will let you fly you additional 30 milesjd JD Read my blog
July 6, 200718 yr "see if he will let you fly you additional 30 miles"I don't like the "if" and I don't like the "additional 30 miles".Real world there's either a crossing restriction or a speed restriction as part of the STAR and the FMS will make that happen or we need the crossing restriction for traffic (radar contact doesn't seem to care if there's traffic or not) or we don't care about the vertical profile and expect the plane to make it to the runway without an overshoot. What I'd like is for RC to forget about arbitrary crossing restrictions. The vast majority of us are flying 'smart' airplanes and the profiles are being disrupted by RC's choice. In several cases, I've had to take my flight out of managed mode to force the plane down beyond it's normal parameters (i.e. I needed flight idle and increased drag) - If that happened routinely in my business we'd get customers (the folks who fly the airplanes and operate and own them) screaming about how we're costing them money. Modern ops are all about efficiency, reduced emissions, reduced fuel burn and the like. A forced descent is totally inefficient and we'll only do it if we need to establish solid in-trail separation because we're near or at capacity. (for the purists, I'm ignoring the opposite direction and crossing track scenarios in this discussion) From a sim point of view, it distracts from the enjoyment of a realistic environment and I think that's what we're paying for when we buy RC.I wonder what other simmers think.I'm tossing this as a suggestion to improve the product seeing as you're into a development cycle now :)Feel free to contact me by email if you wish.Regards,Joel
