Simply cannot get RC4 to work.

Featured Replies

Ok folks, I bought this in December, tried it with FS9. Never had any success. Recently thought I would try it again with FSX. Just jumped through the hoops as specified in the diagrams - upgrading to 4.3, registering the .dll file etc. All seemed to work ok. Loaded a flight plan in FSX. Tried to resize and dock the little window, but all that was under there was FSUIPC and I could not even select that. FSX crashes every other time if I try and alt-tab out to another program, so the need for this to launch RC4 AFTER FSX is sketchy. Today for instance it allowed it once - let me back in to FSX, but after that when I tried it again (to go back to RC4 for instance) I could not get back into FSX - had to quit it from the task manager. FSX has always done this - this is my second windows install and fsx install, and update with SP1. At any rate, I am at a loss as to what to do here. Having spent several hours doing this (and no flying), I am about done. Same experience I had in december it seems with FS9. RC works for some, but I have not had it do anything for me!Suggestions?

i think it is safe to say rc works for almost everyone, and not for a fewif i remember correctly, there was a problem in full screen to window, on some graphics cards. some drivers work, some don't.so what kind of video card do you have and what driverwhat if you try flying in window mode only, is it any better?what version of fsuipc do you have installed?if rc isn't running, and you just have fsx running, are you saying that fsx will hang up if you try to alt-tab out of full screen, and then go back into full screen, and then alt-tab again? if rc isn't running, i don't think it is rc causing the problem. all i can give you is fsx tips and tweaks to get it to work.let me know the answersjd

Hi JD. FSX hangs - unrelated to RC (it always does for me). Nvidia 7300gs - with older drivers. I changed to windowed instead of Full Screen, and that fixed it. Loaded a plan, launche RC no problem, and got up in the air - even got nagged cause I was off course. Now we are cooking with oil!!Thanks for the great program!I bet the windowed/non windowed thing was my problem all along!

Spoke too soon. That was a few days ago. Yes it worked - once. Now, nothing happens at all. Here is my procedure:1: Start ASX and download current weather.2: Start Radar Contact 4.3 and load the flight plan.3: Start FSX, and load the flight plan. Start the flight.4: Switch back to RC (windowed mode now allows this) and click 'start'.5: Switch back to FSX and try to access FSUIPC to get the rc window - nothing happens. Cannot get this window to come down. All other functions of the sim appear normal. PS - radar contact will NOT quit peacefully. I close all other programs, and then click the big 'quit RC' button. Nothing happens and a few minutes later I have to use the task manager to force quit, as it has 'stopped responding.'Help

Hmmm - problem seems to be FSUIPC itself. Tried rebooting the computer, re-installing FSUIPC (4.16), then launching just FSX. I still can't get the FSUIPC window to show up when I select it from the menu. It's not grayed out, but nothing at all happens when I select it.---more and more confused ---

is there a fsuipc.ini file? delete it. uninstall fsuipc. install it again. see what happens

Hi JD - I did not see an fsuipc.ini file in the modules folder, nor in the FSX root directory. Don't know where else to look. I did not see an 'uninstall FSUIPC' entry in the windows add/remove programs either. I deleted the contents of the modules directory, then re-installed FSUIPC 4.16. That did make a difference in that I was adle to access the FSUIPC menu in game, made sure 'multiline messages' was ON, but still no luck getting them to show up once I started Radar Contact.I am at a loss here. I tried it without ASX to see if that was messing things up. I have restarted the machine multiple times, scanned for viri, started FSX, loaded a flight plan, then started the flight, alt-tabbed to Radar contact, loaded that flight plan, started RC, then gone back to FSX, pull up the FSUIPC window and all I get is that config screen. No message box with RC in it. No evidence of RC at all. It DID work once - a few days ago. After that - nothing.I am running out of chicken bones to rattle here.
