October 8, 200718 yr Hi,I bought RC V4.3 approximately one week ago and I love it. Great work!I have got a problem with Flightdeck Companion (FDC), when I use it together with RC. I already browsed threw the forum but I couldn't find any topic which exactly matches my problem.I run the latest version of RC (V4.3) and the latest version of FDC (V3.7.9) on my Windows Vista PC. I use FS2004.The problem is the following:When I connect RC and FDC to flightsim, Radar Contact works very well and I can hear the cabin announcements by FDC. Everything seems to be perfect. As soon as I want to skip threw the "Pre Start" checklist with FDC I can here how the captain sais "OK let's proceed to Pre Start Checklist" and after that it's silent. No reply from the Co-Pilot or something else. Sometimes, ten minutes (!) later, the FO replies "OK Pre Start Checks". Then ten minutes later again the captains reads the first point of the checklist. Then some minutes later again the FO replies the first point of the checklist.RC still works perfectly without any problems. The problems occur in FDC only.I already read in your support forum that RC should be connected to FS before connecting FDC. I followed that advise but I had the same problems with FDC. I enabled just two hotkeys for FDC. The "Home" and "End" key.Do you have any advise for me to make RC and FDC work together perfectly ?Thank you very much.Best regards.Philipp
October 8, 200718 yr Commercial Member maybe change a couple of menu item key assignments in rc, so they don't conflight with fdc.jd JD Read my blog
October 8, 200718 yr Hi,thanks for your quick reply.I changed some menu item keys but the problem with FDC still occurs.I made some screenshots of my key settings in RC and FDC.Hope that you can find a solution.Best regards.Philipp
October 10, 200718 yr Hi Phillip.I read a review on FDC and I'm sure it said that the program was highly configurable. When using RC4, we have to turn the volume down on default ATC. can you not skip certain checklists completely in the set up somewhere? Not by turning the volume down obviously but unchecking certain actions or something. That way, you wouldn't be getting those unwanted voices. It's just a thought.PS. I'm thinking of getting FDC as well. Couple that with RC4 and it must sound really good!
October 11, 200718 yr Hi,thanks for your reply.Yes, FDC is an excellent product and a lot of other users run it together with RC4 without any problems. So it seems that the problem is on my side.It is possible to skip certain checklists in FDC but the problems that I mentioned above always occurs. The CPT starts reading the checklist and ten minutes later the FO starts to reply. This problem occus if I use FDC and RC4 together on my PC. If I use FDC only I have no problems with FDC.It is possible to disable other sounds like capin announcements and airport ambience. Maybe this causes the problem. I will disable them and report back if this helped.Best regards.Philipp
October 11, 200718 yr Another thought Philipp. Have you tried using the default FS9/X ATC along with FDC and see if you still get those unwanted checklists as well? Have a go and just see what happens. Best Regards.
October 11, 200718 yr Hi,I turned off the cabine announcements and airport ambience in FDC. The problems where still there.I used FDC with the default MS ATC (FS9) for a long time without any problems. But I don't stop searching for the problem. :-) A lot of other users use FDC and RC4 together without any problems. So it should work on my PC too. If I know what it is I will post a message.Best regards.Philipp
October 11, 200718 yr Sorry to hear that you haven't found a solution yet. You must feel quite frustrated at the moment. I know I would. FDC sounds an excellent add-on and I shall be purchasing very soon.
October 12, 200718 yr Hi,now I have good news! It works! I reinstalled FDC with all upgrades and the mentioned problems have gone.Seems like any important FDC-file has been overwritten. It's a great atmosphere to use FDC and RC4 together! Real airliner feeling.:-DBest regards.Philipp
