November 12, 200718 yr I have both FS9 and FSX on the PC, running under XP.I have the CD of RC V4.3.3845.I'm only trying to install RC for FS9. I'm just using FSX for some beta testing and don't require RC there - maybe in the future.Install went OK except at the end got an error that says (note that all the references are to FSX)...============================================"Your FSX installation is not suitable for this version of FSUICP. You may need to install an update from Microsoft. No changes have been made by this program."[OK Button]============================================This dialog box overlies a window which says,...============================================"Installer for FSUIPC4.DLL version 4.070Looking in registry for FSX install path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator10.0 Parameter"SetupPath"SetupPath="C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesMicrosoft Flight Simulator X"Checking version of FSX.EXE:... Version 10.0.61355.0 (Need 10.0.60905.0)"============================================It seems I have too new a version of FSX (I did download an update after installing FSX from the DVDs). None the less, I don't need RC in FSX. I just want it for FS9.RC accepted my startup key (thanks for the prompt reply) and starts and runs the pre-flight portions normally. FS9 runs fine but Top Line Menu -> Modules has only an FSUIPC option; neither of the ADV DISP menu lines shown on pg. 33 of the RC manual are there. Don't know how to proceed from here and would appreciate any help. Thanks, allardjd
November 13, 200718 yr Commercial Member you probably chose the install option for fsx and fs9. if you only wanted rc for fs9, you should have chosen the install option for fs9 only.if rc is running for fs9, i think you're golden. if you find a rcv40x directory laying about, you can delete it.jd JD Read my blog

November 13, 200718 yr Commercial Member forget advdisplay.dllfsuipc handles the display. ignore the references in the manual to advdisplay, and substitute fsuipc insteadjd JD Read my blog
November 13, 200718 yr Author Yes, RC is running in FS9 and I have an RC window. Flight plan is loaded.RC window has the distance to the airport and the first fix at the top of the window and the choices...2> FSS WX4> CLR by FSS0> MainEach selection results in the box flashing a brief "Standby". Tried repeatedly for ten minutes then took off. Same. The airport and fix distances and bearings are updating as I fly.I'm sure it's me. What have I overlooked?John
