December 14, 200718 yr When I run the tutorial flilght BNA MEM I recieve vectors shortly after takoff. In this cace heading 240 toward the first waypoint. When I create a generic high airway flight plan I am never turned toward the first waypoint. Is this correct? I know that I would just turn when I want to after takeoff.Chirs
December 14, 200718 yr Commercial Member in the flight plan you create, is the first checkpoint within 30 miles of the departure airport? if so, you're going to be doing a departure procedure (documented in the manual). you have to fly that departure procedure on your own, until you are turned over to centerjd JD Read my blog
December 14, 200718 yr JD, Thanks for the quick response. I will check. So if the first waypoint is more than 30 miles you will be turned toward the waypoint?CAC
December 14, 200718 yr Commercial Member >30, no departure procedure, vectors<30, departure procedure, you fly it (read and fly the tutorial on departure procedures)jd JD Read my blog
December 17, 200718 yr It doesn't have to be a published departure procedure either. A common way to depart is to simply turn left or right after take-off to intercept the outbound track from the VOR or NDB.
