AI Ground and Landing problems

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,I have been using RC for about a week now learning how to work it and I think i'm getting better. However I have noticed a few glitches I believe. 1. Sometimes when an AI aircraft is taxing to the runway it stops. It blocks up traffic and won't move after atleast 5 min the aircraft disappears. I am using AISmooth the latest version and still no luck I do however have aircraft landing.2. When I come in for a landing and once when I land no other aircraft will land after I have cleared the runway. 3. When I have landed and i'm still on the runway the aircraft has its flaps down and is gaining altitude but it remains slow and doesn't make any heading changes at all.4. ATC does not tell me "give way to" at all and I sometimes end up crashing into other aircraft.Other then these four problems I have noticed RC is a blast and very fun to use. Thanks

Please see comments below:>>1. Sometimes when an AI aircraft is taxing to the runway it>stops. It blocks up traffic and won't move after atleast 5 min>the aircraft disappears. I am using AISmooth the latest>version and still no luck I do however have aircraft landing.>AI Smooth has no affect on ground traffic other than spacing out the approach traffic to allow AI to take off more frequently. If the stuck AI are at all busy airports then see if an AI nose-to-nose conflict is occurring. Also get from AVSIM FS9Configurator and use its AI taxispeed function to increase just slightly the AI speed so they exit the runway faster. Sometimes with a poorly constructed afcad or aircraft model with two big a radius, ai using opposing right angle taxiways to enter a runway can stall each other. If two nearby taxiways on the same side of the runway are near each other and the runway is long enough, consider using AFCAD to remove the links of the opposing section between the runway and the upstream taxiway so aircraft will not be entering opposite each other. These are not within RC control.>2. When I come in for a landing and once when I land no other>aircraft will land after I have cleared the runway. >In AISmooth try turning off in its settings respond to user aircraft. Your presence near a runway even if you clear it looks like you are still on the runway to AISmooth. With this setting on it could also be putting aircraft behind you in holds while you are on final therefore no AI may be sequenced behind you. RC will provide AI separation when you are on close final.>3. When I have landed and i'm still on the runway the aircraft>has its flaps down and is gaining altitude but it remains slow>and doesn't make any heading changes at all.Which aircraft are you talking about? Your's or AI. It sounds like you are talking about AI behind you climbing above you. If so, that separation is an FS function.>>4. ATC does not tell me "give way to" at all and I sometimes>end up crashing into other aircraft. Not in version 4. I use visual separation by using the "W" key to remove the visual panels and sides of the aircraft and pan left and right as I get near crossing taxiways and runways. AI stopping if you protrude into their path is an FS function that does not always work.>>Other then these four problems I have noticed RC is a blast>and very fun to use.>Glad you find it improving your experience.>>Thanks

Hello,Thank you for responding to my questionsI tried going into settings under AISmooth and I assumed what you were talking about was "Distance of user aircraft to landing aircraft [NM]". The value was set to 5.000000 so I changed it to 0 assuming if that would turn it off. After doing so I ran a quick flight to KCLT from KATL. I landed on RW18R but after I landed 1 aircraft landed but then no other AI would takeoff or land on that runway. I have encountered this before on other airports such as KMSY.Thanks again for your replys.Airtran

It looks like the terminology has changed since I first set it in an earlier version.I'll attach what I currently have. User plane response is unchecked. Separation remains at 5.0.Note on final I have a 90 second spacing. That is more for my testing purposes to speed things up for the takeoff queue.

Hello Ronzie,Thanks again for your reply I did try the settings you posted with still no success. I have been encountering this other problem with AI they just seem to keep floating I have posted a picture below to help show you what I mean perhaps you have encountered this before. Thanks

Floating AI is not an RC problem. If you go to the main FS2004 forum here and do an advanced search you will find some better answers than I can supply.Your screen shot looks a bit strange for the ground texture. This makes me think it could be a scenery problem. It also be a bad AFCAD where the taxiway, runway, gate, or apron heights do not match the airport scenery elevation. If it is a specific AI model that floats anywhere, then it that model's aircraft.cfg file the contact point elevations could be off.Look for those subjects in the FS2004 forum.
