IFR Training

Featured Replies

Hello! I have the most recent version of RC 4.3. In my GENERAL options tab, there is a selection for IFR training... what is this? Unless I missed it in the manual, I don't see it anywhere. Thanks guys!Jason

Updates to features not documented are on the FAQ page at www.jdtllc.comwhere in this case:http://www.jdtllc.com/FAQ.htm#27What does IFR Training mean? The option turns off the first line of the display, showing you the next checkpoint, distance and bearing. What this means is you are at the mercy of your own techniques and avionics interpretation to find the next checkpoint in your plan that you must get credit for. You'll have to know which checkpoints were skipped (due to vectoring) and what the next checkpoint is and how to get there by referring to your plan and avionics and making any changes necessary to get there within the tolerances described in the manual.A good case in point is where you are vectored during a departure (normal when your first filed checkpoint is more than thirty nm from your departure airport) and then ATC requestsa you to assume your own navigation. This means you go direct from your present position (not returning to your original path) to that checkpoint. Depending on your avionics it could be fairly simple or very challenging without that aid confirming you choices.

Thanks Ron!!
