HIGHLIGHTS
This program starts off in the cockpit of the 737-200 as the flight crew makes their final preparations for their departure to Iqaluit from Ottawa. During the cockpit preparation, the First Officer covers the APU startup, checking of all circuit breakers and much more! After these checks and the departure briefing are completed, we departed for Iqaluit which is the first stop on our journey. Throughout this program, we will be visiting destinations such as Rankin Let, Edmonton, Yellowknife, Norman Wells and Inuvik. Each flight segment had special highlights that all aviation enthusiasts will enjoy. For example, during our trip from Iqaluit to Rankin Let, viewers will have the opportunity to see a cockpit presentation on the classic 737-200 which has been slightly modified. This presentation focuses on the Nav Display and choice of using true heading vs magnetic heading while flying far north. On our following flight to Yellowknife the cockpit presentations continue with a much more detailed look at the various systems of the aircraft.
For those of you who are equally interesting in the exterior of the aircraft, while at Edmonton the First Officer takes us on a very thorough walkaround inspection of the aircraft which teaches you all about the 737 and the upgrades that have been made since the release of the original aircraft. Other points of interest also include presentations on fuel checks, fuel balancing and EPR calculations which many flight simulator enthusiasts will find informative. Moving away from the aircraft, there is also a presentation by the VP of Marketing who provides the viewers with some historic and operational details on the airline and it highlights the importance of the service this airline provides.
From a scenic point of view, this program is loaded with amazing views from both inside and outside of the cockpit. The numerous cockpit camera angles give a truly unique perspective to the viewers and it definitely surpasses the quality of the program that was filmed 10 years ago. If Canadian North is an airline that you are interested in, or you love classic aircraft, then this program is definitely a must have!
