  1. Roger that. I'm getting the B777 for my birthday. My wife asked me what I'd like as a present, and well, last year it was the PMDG 757/767, so the trend continues...Eytan
  2. Dave,How about programming your own flight plan, with wayoints, VORs,etc/ Or Sids and Stars? Do the waypoints appear on the Navigation Display gauge as the flight progresses?Eytan
  3. Anthony,I want to be sure about this. So if anyone already has the B777 running with FKY!2K, I'd like to hear from them about the functionality of the FMC.Eytan
  4. Hi,At this stage I'm happy with my FLY!2K, without upgrading to FLY2.I'd like to get the B777, after already enjoying their B757 and 767.For the sake of realism in the cockpit, how functional is the FMC here?I'm aware that the FMC for the FLY!2 version is comparable to the one in PIC 767 and Dreamfleet's 737, both of which I own and love using. Is the FLY!2k version FMC the same as the Hawker SiddleY?, i.e. just the legs page? What about the Route, progress, initial reference, LNAV, VNAV,dep/arr pages, etc? Are they available?I'm not interested in a toy FMC, I want as many functions as possible?Your advice please.Eytan
  5. Yes, it's amazing, that last screenshot. kinda reminds of the default SFO scenery in FLY!2K, but as seen from at least 20000'.Third party sceneries make all the difference. Megascenery ( an Australian software company} produced a similar high quality, all satellite based scenery of Washington State for FS 98 & 2000. It's so good, you can spot individual buildings in downtown Seattle, Vancouver and Portland. Personally, I think only satellite imagery can produce true VFR conditions. I think sims in the near future will go that way.Until then, we have TS2 to thank for.Eytan
  6. > When I finally have the time >to redo the Carolinas, I will upload a custom water mask >with each scenery to help people get better water effects. Randall, Looking forward to the above redone Carolinas. First I have to get FLY!2...I'm too lazy to figure out TS. I'm grateful for the FLY community for using TS to produce all those gorgeous sceneries. Columbia Gorge and Lake Tahoe are my favorites.Eytan
  7. Randall, Thanks for the detailed reply. You mentioned " water masking" to improve coast and ocean surface graphic quality. What is exactly this technique. I really dislike those screenshots of FLY!2 showing no wave breaking line and flat water texture. Does water masking help?Eytan
  8. Thanks everyone,I feel more enlightened now. It seems that FLY!2 is once again a basic package that can be enriched with the help of all the super enthusiastic FLY community members.it's like TRI knew that Terrascene would complete the generic scenery, others would do the same to clouds, water textures, etc.As to the bargain prices; seems to me that after dowloading the patches, charts, manual, extra scenery, etc, my telephone bill would be so high, it would cancel out the bargain price of FLY!2.Interesting point: I was on vacation in Montreal, and couldn't find one store with FLY. They said it wasn't worth having on the shelves! Shame.Fly safely and watch your height AGL.Eytan
  9. Hi,I'm not starting another 'which sim is better debate'.I've always owned several sims simultaneously, and enjoy each one for its unique qualities.I got FS2002, and now I'd like to consider FLY!2. I still have FLY2K on my hard drive, and I love it. Maybe it's time to move up.Two questions about FLY!2:1. Is the ATC the same old Texas drawl with two voices? I know about C4TO already, but just wonder about the out of the box ATC quality.2. Is the scenery accuracy as good as FS2002? By that I'm referring to geographical representation -Coastlines, rivers, roads, inland water bodies- are these VFR quality in FLY!2, or rough approximations.Your comments would be appreciated.Eytan
  10. I did a minimal install of USAF, as my hard disk is relatively small. All it meant was that I had to put cd #2 when choosing "fly now". Then I wanted to uninstall the whole thing, as i'm getting a bigger hard disk.I tried the uninstall using the remove programs option in the control panel. That didn't work.So I tried Start-programs-Janes CS-USAF -uninstall/ reinstall. What happened then is really weird. A setup window for APLC32 133 appeared, asking if I want to install this utility, (which I already have).I can't manually uninstall, as the USAF files are all over D:program files, not in one library. I am afraid if I manually delete files, I might erase some common files belonging to other programs.Any ideas?EytanP3 450256 RAMGEFORCE 2 MX 200 64 mbVibra 128 sound card8 gb hard disk
  11. Lee, Thanx for the site. I didn't know Google was so good.Eytan
  12. Ian,Yes. it's the old mOtto-be prepared!. I guess no real pilot flies without the procedures charts.Another option for virtual flying is choosing a STAR, and looking at the ND display, at the smallest scale, where it would take you. If that choice doesn't look right, choose another STAR. Ther's plenty of time to play around with the database a good distance before beginning your descent.Eytan
  13. I was flying from JFK to LEMD (Madrid Barajas Intl), with my own programmed flight plan in the FMC. About 500 miles from LEMD, I decided to check the STARs of LEMD. So I accessed the dep/arr page, and surprise- six! pages of STARs to choose from. At first thought, wow! this FMC nav database really shines. But, how do you know which STAR goes to which RWY? (BTW, there were lots of SIDs, too). Unless you have the Jeppesen simcharts package for Europe, all those STARs are just pretty names. At the end I chose the APPROACHES page to RWY 36R, which gave me a few extra waypoints on my descent.I own the program Final Approach, so from now on I'll refer to that to see if its STARs can give any orientation to specific runways. So, having a big database in the FMC is useless unless you know what the procedure does.Eytan OrnsteinTJSJ
  14. I have the Wilco PIC B767 installed in FS2000. Yesterday, I tried to select a PIC B767 in the aircraft section of FS2000, but there were no planes in that category. I also tried in the saved flights page, where I had stored some PIC flights, but I got an error message about initialization of aircraft not possible.I closed FS, and looked in the FS directory, in the aircraft library,. Sure enough, the PIC files were there, all five planes that I had originally installed, ( patch also).I do remember that prior to this disappearance, I downloaded some big SID, STAR, and Approach files into the FMC folder, (the FMCWP folder).Could this have caused the planes not to show up in FS. I doubt it. So what's the problem? Why aren't the PIC planes not showing up in the aircraft page?Totally dumbfounded.Eytan OrnsteinTJSJ
  15. This is the wrong place to ask which sim to buy. Naturally, folks here are biased towards PIC! However, the DF 737, especially the outside and interior views is graphically much more exciting than the PIC. Both are almost equal in flight realism as far as aircraft systems go. So if you can afford ir, get them both!Eytan
