  1. Thanks Joe for your answer. This is a raw version of what I have in mind, but will do the job and it serves as a starting point for what I want to create.Best Regards,Gig
  2. Thanks Jon, you catch the idea. Also thanks for the link. I tried it but it doesn't showed any results for some queries that I made.Anyway, I actually don't need flight plans, just the names and ICAO codes of airports that match a given search criteria. Later I could pick the ones I like and make I flight plan. The searching parameteres would be distance, ILS, runway length and so on.I want this because I never do flights longer than 300 miles and sometimes I just don't know "from - where" to fly. By the way I fly the PSS A320 or the FeelThere 737PIC.If I make an application able to do this, maybe it would be of interest for other simmers, too.Gig
  3. Hi HK,Thank you for replying.I alredy have FSBuild and other planning tools. What I want is a tool that, entering the airport of origin and distance radius, suggests me a list of possible destination airports based also (but optional) on parameters like runway length, ILS, altitude, etc.If there are no such program, maybe I could build one.Gig
  4. Hi People,I would apreciate if someone could help find a tool that I've seen not so long ago, but can't remember the name. What it does is suggest two airports for flight plan making based on several parameteres like distance which I am most interested in.Thanks in advance,Gig
  5. And the last one I've seen, but don't pay too much attention on this one, because is the least used:{Flightplan}title=SUMU to SABE description=SUMU, SABE type=IFRroutetype=3cruising_altitude=28000departure_id=SUMU, S34* 50.09', W056* 01.50', +000105.00departure_position=06destination_id=SABE, S34* 33.53', W058* 24.98', +000016.00departure_name=Carrasco Intl/Gen C L Berissodestination_name=Jorge Newbery Aeroparquealternate_name=waypoint.0=SUMU, A, S34* 50.09', W056* 01.50', +000105.00,waypoint.1=KKNIMBO, I+LOCWAY, S34* 30.82', W056* 29.53', +000000.00,waypoint.2=KKPABOT, I+LOCWAY, S34* 15.60', W056* 51.57', +000000.00,waypoint.3=KKPONPA, I+LOCWAY, S33* 56.42', W057* 18.98', +000000.00,waypoint.4=KKPAPIX, I+LOCWAY, S34* 24.97', W058* 00.03', +000000.00,waypoint.5=SABE, A, S34* 33.53', W058* 24.98', +000016.00,Happy programming :)
  6. 7. Glad to hear that Jim and also glad to help. 8. Hi Jim,I don't see too much problem in checking if "AppVersion" line exists and use one parsing logic, and if not other one. The problem in loading the flight plan is that you can't simply load it and save, but have to use the find route button in order to be able to save it and once done that, FS could change considerably your original flight plan, even the cruising altitude. So, I consider that this utility is trictly for users of the in-built FS planner.Anyway, my personal opinion, others may disagree. Having FSNavigator and FSBuild, why would I have to plan, save, load, resave, load, modify, save; just to make a small modification when I can do that in one step with those flight planners. If I were you, I wouldn't stick just to one flight .pln format, especially when all others planners exports to a FS different, but to similar one. This would avoid narrowing your "audience" from the begining.Anyway, thanks for your time and wish you the best in your work.Regards,Gig
  9. >Gig,>>I've put out 2 releases as public betas and had quite a lot of>feedback on which to base Ver3. I think Ver3 is ready but just>want to be sure, its very hard to spot your own mistakes!!Jim, I know how that is, as 43 years old systems developer, and believe me you'll never spot every bug no matter how hard you try even with a beta testing team. The best beta testing, nowadays when there are so many hardware and software configurations that may be of influence, is to relase it like you did with your previous versions, so everyone interested can try it. You can see it doing even by the greatest software companies :-hah>Other people have e-mailed me with the same "No File Opened">problem. It has usually been because the PLN file was either>created (or edited) by another Add-On, which alters the file>structure slightly or because the PLN has more than 25>waypoints.>If you open the PLN file using Flight Planner within MS2004,>edit it slightly, then re-save. This will restructure the PLN>file and then my Route Editor will be able to open it>(Provided its less than 25 waypoints). I wish that was the problem. After trying to open my flight plans (non of them having more then 10-15 waypoints), I thought the same like you, about possibe structure issue, and tried to open some flight plans included with FS like aerial01.pln, alaska01.pln and the problem persisted. What I think is that if FS or Radar Contact or other thirdy party tool reads the files, you're application has to be able to read it, too. Otherwise, I could think of possible difference in parsing logic.Another thing that might be useful in your development. Most people, including myself, use FSNavigator or FSBuilder as primary flight planners among others. Maybe you shoud generate some plans with those tools and test them with your application, otherwise you might recieve many bug reports ;)Hope this helps.Regards,Gig
  10. Hi Jim,I think the best way to get more feedbacks is to release it as a public beta. It's freeware, anyway. At least it will save you from sending it to any mail you receive, and may be a lot of them. Let the people download it, try it and report bugs and functionality requests through this forum. It's just MHO.Best Regards,GigP.S. By the way I downloaded your previous version and when I try to open a .pln file, an error "No file opened" shows up. I tried with different plans and the same thing happens.
  11. Hi guys,Would anyone be so kind to tell me where to get the binary weather file (*.wx) structure in order to try some weather conversions to MSFS file format. Thanks in advance.Regards,Gig
  12. Thank you Reed, I have just sent an e-mail as you asked.Regards,GigP.D. I wonder why I didn't receive the update notification. I bought it only one month ago.
  13. Hi Red,What about the people who already bought it, as I did it last month? Is there any patch or a new version to download. I couldn't find any info on your site about it.Regards,Gig
  14. Hi Gerard,I don't want to be a party breaker, but I've also used Proflight in fs2000 and fs2002 and the only thing I can say is that for me this piece of software has many bugs, poor documentation, very bad key handling (i.e. FSCOM loads a module that intercept the keys to see who they are meant for, but for some reason the same module block some key combinations like Alt-Enter. When I told that to the author, he said that he has already received questions about this issue, but can't understand yet why is happening). To me ProFlight is a masterpiece compared with FSCOM 2004. As I said in my earlier post that pilot_76 mentioned, poor functionality, poor documentation, way overpriced for what it delivers. For example you determine the runway and select the SID without taking into account weather parameters; second the ATC - Pilot voices are mostly with european accent and sound strange in a way that sometimes are really very difficult to understand. Not to mention runtime errors in the generated adventures which I had to edit manually in order to make it work. That's my perception of FSCOM after being a user of Radar Contact, ProFlight, FSNav and FSBuild among others. It would be interested to here your opinion. In my case I am still regreting those 55 bucks.Best Wishes,Gig
  15. Hi Pilot,Well, I've followed the same logic as you about them being around from 2002 and thought, even after reading some review of HIS application (to be more precisely), that this could be a good product. But, as there was no demo, I decided to take my chances and left unsatisfied. I could write a very long post about the functionality, but I'd rather not. I send quite a few mails to the author and even offer myself, being a systems developer for almost 20 years now, to help him with bug reports and suggestions, but I ended doing that and not enjoying the flights, so I send my appologizes to the author because I couldn't fight the feeling that I've paid 55 bucks for being sort of beta tester. But, I also express my wishes to him that one day he'll manage to make FSCOM worth the price.Anyway, about speech recognition, I have bought time ago "Game Commander" which is not cheap but worked fine for me. Also I've heard of good experiences with Voice Buddy. I think you should better start a new thread about this matter, so people more involved with SR could offer some guidelines to you.Regards,Gig
