  1. Hello!I dont like the sound coming from AI traffic around me. If the sound was more real, I couldlive with it, but the sound from AI in my FSX suddently starts, and suddently stops, and is really loud.I am using Ultimate traffic, so I went into one of the many aircraft folders, and in the sound folder. There, in sound.cfg it says that the sound is "borrowed" from 737-500, but that is an aircraft I have removedfrom the simobjects folder, to make FSX start quicker. So now I wonder where the sound is coming from?(the props seem to be using King Air-sound)
  2. please tell more about the changes you want to make.
  3. Thank you again for replying!I bought ASA upgrade for FS9 to have nice weather there, and I have ASX on my FSX server as well. Now you tell me that FS9 in slew mode, like wideView ar based on, will not work. Will it work to have ASA installed on another , non-FS computer in the network with WideFS, sending weather data to FS9 (which is in slew mode)? If ASA is not working in any way with a FS in slew, then I don't know how all WideView users are getting their weather to their client computers?
  4. Hello! All flights I have had with RC up to now:ATC tells me to leave cruise about 145nm from destination, evne when cruising at only FL330.This is in my opinion too early (of course especially when the opposite runway turns out to be the runway in use, making the descent at least 35 nm longer. Iknow RC doesn'n knowabout that until later))After leaving cruise, ATC always seem to tell me "when ready, descent to FL200..")Leaving cruise 145nm out when in FL 330 is too early, so if you can change the logic so that you are told "descent when ready to FL.something" would be nice. Now it seems like there is aIF plane < 145nm out THEN clear him to CruiseALT -4000;)
  5. unfortunately not solved the problem. Low overcast brings FSP down to a slide show.Miguel: The picture you attached I could not see, I got an error from AVSIM that I was not able to see it because I was not logged in, even if I was.So there is an AVSIM problem. But perhaps you can tell what was in the picture;)
  6. Thank you for the quick answer!I am sorry to hear that slew mode is not possible, is this new with ASA? Will it work if ASA's weather is being sent throug the network? What I am experiencing is that after using WXConfig, selecting cirrus, etc, and pressing "apply weather", nothing happens. At least not for ten minutes. Is there a delay here, and how long is it? After all, I am in offline mode, and do not need a transition. Then I press "refresh WX" and thing starts to happen. After some trying, I got nice cirrus, like I wanted. Then after a little while, the visibility went from the 10SM I had put in, to like 1 SM, and the cirrus was now cumulus instead,'and indeed, in the WXConfig page, it tells me overcast cumulus. The visibility says 10SM in the metar, but still it gives me 1SM.I have put max vis at ground to 50, and hi level to 175.Do you know what is causing this?"Save your file, if you wish, by clicking on the Save METAR File icon"-Well, if I make a stratus at 5000 and a cumulus at 10000, 4000 feet thick and a cirrus at 23000, the metar willjust say SCT050, SCT100 BKN 230, and will not contain any information about thickness, cloudtype.Do you mean that the information in the WXConfig page is only being saved as a METAR file, meaning all orther information being lost?Last question:If I load online weather and wait for it to be processed and injected. Let us say I am going from London to Madrid.Let us say that it is cloudy over the whole route, in real life, and hopefully also depicted in ASA.Can I go into WXConfig and modify the weather for a airport which is on the midway to Madrid, Bordeaux?) and set the appication radius to 100nm, and set the weather there to CAVOK?Will I experience that the clouds will END as I fly towards Bordeaux, and I can see the start of the clouds on the other side? Or will it be suddently(?) CAVOK all around me and then again cloudy all around me?can I then go int WXConfig
  7. Ok, I will try that.Does that mean you are not shure wether ASA will inject weather in FS9 in slew or not?All users of WideView for networked computers have to have their computers in slew mode.In this case I am not trying to have the weather through the network, but running ASA on the client itself.Could you please tell me what to do in order to have a clear sky with only som cirrus at, say 20000 feet, globally, after starting with ASA online mode?I am standing at an airport with onlie weather, nice and overcast, maybe. Now I want to have the fair weather described, globally, but with the upperwind that came from the online weather, (statically and not updated anymore, of course.)What sliders to put where? Is it supposed to be a change of weather by the flick of a switch? After how long time is it supposed to be updated? And how can I save this situation for use later:- scattered cirrus at x feet, the upperwind that originally was there before I tuned off auto updates?I have used so many hours with AS6, ASX for FSX and now ASA for FS9 to acchive just this, that is why I am asking for a preciseexplanation;)Regards,Tore Stabell
  8. Just a little edit, additional information for you:Now I think I know what is happening:If I edit the weather in WXConfig, add a cirrus layer at 20000 feet, 200 feet thick, global, apply, etc,it says "process complete" and the dreaded (?) depiction ....Then if I go to the main page and back to WXConfig again, it has changed the cirrus layer to cumulus! No wonder it is cumulus there all the time! What gives?(FSUIPC: Weather settings off pressed)
  9. Upgraded from AS6-5 to ASA, FS9FSUIPC newest, unregistered. What I am trying to do is something I thought would be easy, but it isn't. Read manual, forums, etc.Start FS9 with a flight that has "clear all weather" in it. Aircraft at LIMC, Italy.Weather is clear, visibility is as we know, dreadfully long at higher altitudes. The computer is used only as a client, and is slewed by the server, so the winds are of no importance, of course. With server not on, just the client, I am starting ASA.After a while, not too long, it populates the weather with clouds. Good. (I have taken the "cumulus02.bmp" from FSX, made by the FEX and converted it to DX3, and it is a whole new world;)Now I want to fly in CAVOK this day, but of course want the nice visibility smoothing I have paid for;) So I go int WX Config.I remove the cumulus layer or whatever is there. I set the application range to "global" and "apply weather".It tells me it is no longer automatic updates, which i s what I want today. Now, the "depiction.." and "synthesis.." are staying sort of forever, must the FS be running, not in pause?Running FS (in slew) and waitiong for a change: Nothing.Five minutes after I switch to ASA and there is still "depiction.." Status message line" says "synthesis updated".Still a lot of clouds.Options page, ALL clouds options is at left, except I have set 5 cloud layers max.NO local supression or supression on ground.1) Why is it still overcast: I look at REPORT page, it says in the metar CLR. (clouds: none reported)Suddently, after a lot of trying, it says "process complete".Still overcast. But then I see that the "application range has changed to "10 miles".Every time I enter WXConfig, it changes to 10.2)If this is corrected, maybe I am doing something wrong: How on earth can I save this situation, where I have been edition WXConfig and setapplication range to "global": I tried to save the weather under "save metar file".. But every time I start ASA,it depicts the weather in Offline Mode, which is good, but it doesn't depict my customized weather, it is still vercast, because it was orignally overcast in the metar.Hope you can answer on this one.Edit: I went to FS own menu: Clear all weather.Clouds of course gone. Then in ASA WXConfig, added a layer of Cirrus at 20000 feet. Apply etc, "online updates are now turned off, weather is applyed".Nothing happens. That is probably because ASA is saying "Complete".But then after 10? minutes, the cirrus is actually there!Must I press "refresh" for the process to start imidiately, or is there always a 10 minute delay for everything? In other words, is it possible to make ASA changes to my GLOBAL weather at once, it is after all a GLOBAL and OFFLINE change I am trying to do?Like in FS9 weather menu, if you add a cloud layer it is imidiately there?I know it is a lot of questions, but I really want this to work;)
  10. "i wouldn't consider any of them a show stopper"I rest my case.
  11. Of course, but I didn't think it was any reason to say "everything works, thank you" ;)After all, this is a support forum, for a payware program. If someone released RC as a freeware program, one could say"very impressive addon, keep up the good work!".And this is version 4 of your program, and hopefully there will be a version 5, and my list of can-be-even-better should be looked into.Of course, if people encounters installation errors, BSOD's etc must be adressed first, but if the goal is tomake RC more realistic, you could corrrect the errors and the glitches I am talking about.Or you could of course say "no, this is what you get, we'll change nothing".My mistake was probably that I did not start my post with "thank you for a wonderful addon, it has given mehours of excitement. However...:"edit: There is one more thing: On Ground frequency xx, he says cleared to push and start, and contact ground on xx.. when ready for taxi.He tells me the frequency I'm allready on, it sounds like it is a new frequency. If it is the same frequency I'm supposed to call, then he would say"and call for taxi, or something".
  12. Hello!I just bougt RC and have flown 5 trips in Europe so far.My frist impression is that it is much like Microsoft's ATC, with a more realistic touch. But it can be much better. It is really sad that all the thousands of ATC and pilot sounds you have spent so much time recording, is so unreal, soundwise. It is easy to hear when you have the ATC chatter enabled, to hear the difference when the ATC is contacting you...Really sad. What you should have done is to record all the items through a radio transmission:Hook up a AM airband radio (with a dummy load, making it transmit only inside the room), and record the items from an airband scanner in another room. This wayall transmissions would sound exactly like the real ones. Now, I can hear that you have used some kind of EQ to make it sound "radio",but it doesn't sound REAL. But now to the DO-AT-ONCE-LIST:* When the ATC give instructions to AI traffic, they answer at once. You must put in a delay between instructions and answer. It sounds silly with "XX123 turn right heading 240 roger heading 240, XX123"* You must find a way to give the pilot RWY in use at destination, before coming down to FL100 or less. In the real world one can make a plan from Top Of Descent or shortly afterwards.* You must find a way to make the pilot listen to the ATIS at destination without "approved, come back in four minutes.."* If all scenery is scanned by RC, how come most frequencies are wrong? Many of the TWR/DEP/GND frequencies seem to be taken out of nowhere, are they random?* This sentence "descent now, I need you level by.." is something someone has heard once on the airband radio? Never used in Europe in my 30 years of listening. Couldbe a nice touch to hear it once a year in RC, but every time is not good. Cut it.* Descending through FL100, the ATC tells me "QNH 1025". ATC will give the QNH at first altitude, not when you still are on a flight level.* When contacting TWR on the glideslope, the TWR tells me the wind. The TWR is supposed to give the wind when you are cleared to land, not before.* In Europe there is no such thing as WINDS, it is WIND. * When ATC gives instructions to AI, the AI is saying "turn right heading 250, ROGER, XXX123"."Taxi to the ramp, ROGER, XX123"Cut the "ROGER", or put it in the start of the read back.* several times it has happend the same thing as in Microsoft ATC: I'm told to contact X on 123.1 and I do.He says "ROGER", and in the same moment I am told to contact another frequency. You must put in a logic saying that if it has been less thanone minute (?) since last frequency change, dont change.* In three out of my five trips, I have gotten RWY in use from approach, and imidiately after ANOTHER runway. A glitch. So far, the end of MUST DO-list from me.(If this was a freeware program, this list wouldn't make sense, but it is a payware program which is supposed to be far better than the default ATC,so one can hope it will be adressed, to increase realism)Best regards,ATC-addict,Tore Stabell,Oslo,Norway
  13. Checked, tested and re-tested. Changing from fair weather to low, big overcast only brings down FPS a little - in windowed mode. That's of course because AA is not workingin windowed. Then switch to fullscreen: AA works like a charm, everything crisp and clear, and FPS down from 60 to 8-10.And the stupidest thing is that I cannot see any difference wether the clouds are antialized or not! So it is a total waste of FPS;)It does not seem to be a big difference in FPS if I use ActiveSkyGraphics 128x128 clouds or big, 1024-clouds from FEX,it is the antialiasing of the clouds that hurts. It is like bloom in FSX, only three times worse.I have been looking through literally hundred forums to see if I could find any information about cloud rendering in FS9,as there seem to be something related to my GTS8800 ren dering clouds, or of course something in my FS9.cfg file.Changed yesterday from a relatively old driver to the new 180, and that did not do the trick.I was about to buy ASA to really get that nice weather, but that is of now not the first thing to do.One could of course live without AA, but it is a real turnoff, as you know.Anyone, please..:)
  14. Hello!I have FSX on the "server" computer, and FS9 on a slaved computer throug WideView. The client is in SLEW mode, but it is moving exactly like the server, of course. Can I use RC on the client? The AI traffic is not synced on the computers (I have FSX/FS9 mixed configuration, and can not use WideTraffic),and I want to see the traffic I am following.Besides, in this way I will get RC sound on a seperately output, and can get that sound in adedicated speaker.
  15. - already tried out!New 180-drivers, after removing and cleaning with driver cleaner, restarts, etc.New version of Matrox triplehead software. The problem is as usual, I'm afraid:AA is only working in full screen, but looking very good and sharp.High frame rates, until I put on a overcast cloud. Then it is down to 8-10.And there is a strange difference between windowed and full screen, for some reason. Only AA in full screen.Maybe there is something with the 8800GTS card, that has a hard job rendering 3D clouds and anti alising it, I don't know. Will investigate further - as always;)
  16. That was some fine screenshots! (OMG!)You did not test a complete, low overcast of cumulus, but I believe that is not a problem with your monster computer:)I forgot to tell that I am using TripleHeadToGo with 3840x1024, which is of course a big resolution. But it still doesn't explain whay just rendering of clouds with AA should kill it all. I am getting 100-200 FPS in cruise.I am wondering if I should change drivers again - I have done that a hundred times over the years.. - to see If I can duplicate your quality.Of course, I have only a 8800GTS card, but then again I do not require more than 100 FPS.. I was very impressed with the sharp scenery as well, and of course the quality of the scenery (is it just Ultimate terrain?)Thank you for the settings - I will try them out.
  17. thank you for replying!In-game-AA has never worked for me in FS9, ever.Word Not Allowed: How much is your FPS reduced, compared to no-weather, when you turn on a solid, ground licking overcast of cumulus clouds? And if you answer is "not very much", can you give details about video card, driver version, nHancer version, the lot;=I want what you have;)
  18. Hi!FS9, 3.2 Dual Core, 8800GTS, 3GB usable RAM.The problem is that using AA makes the cumulus clouds to bring FPS down to less than 10.I can sit on an airport with 60 FPS.A ton of cumulus clouds only bring down FPS a little. But any use of AA will eat all my FPS, making it unflyable.Question:Are there anyone on this entire forum using FS9, with any kind of AA in use, that can put on a low overcast of cumulusclouds, without the framerate being divided by four?If so, I would love to hear what kind of AA they are using (NHancer setting?).Marry Cristmas!Tore,Oslo,Norway.
  19. Hi!I have two FS computers netwrked with wideview, and I have FSX and ASX on one, and FS9 and AS6 on the other.I want to upgrade both. But it seems expensive to buy upgrades for both of them, can I buy the "full version" and then install on both computers, upgrading both AS6 and ASX?Tore,Oslo,Norway.
  20. I'm running two computers with WideView, and because of problems with stuttering using WideView and FSX, I have to use FS9 on the computer showing the outside view, and FSX on the computer I am actually flying. So the "main" computer with FSX have no outside view, and that causes it to taxi on the grass and through buildings, because the default FSX scenery is not exactly the same as the FS9 scenery I am looking at when taxing around. This also causes the FS9 computer to get below the ground, because of differences in the airports altitude.I wonder if it is possible to use (or convert) FS9 scenery to FSX: Not to look at, just the position and altitude of the airport, taxiways, aprons and parking stands. Is all this information in the FS9 AFCAD files?Of course I could also use FS9 on the computer I am flying, but my B767 cockpit project needs FSX for simconnect reasons.
  21. Thank you for answering.Well here is the screenshots, in the REPORT window, it it easy to see that the metar for Heathrow is indeed correct: CAVOK.But then there is the problem, "decoded textual weahter for EGLL: ..."clouds scattered at 1900 feet...".http://www.torestabell.no/767/weather1.JPGhttp://www.torestabell.no/767/weather2.JPGHope you can give me a good answer.Regards,Tore Stabell
  22. ASX ver 1160 installed, FSX.Starting on an airport I know has cavok conditions.Clear all weather.Start ASX, it connects, and after a little while, the sky is crowded with cumulus, total overcast.Strange, I know it is CAVOK, I think to myself. Then, in "report" page, the airport I am at is indeed reported NO CLOUDS.So how on earth is it possible for ASX to give me a total overcast when the report in ASX is telling me it is Sky Clear?I can of course give you a screenshot, but you have probably heard about it before.
  23. This sudden, abrupt change in visibility is still a problem. The link below descibes it well. Today, the abrupt change happens at about 3700 feet.I have the newest version, and have tried every possible setting. But you will hopefully know what I am doing wrong.Regards,Tore stabellhttp://www.torestabell.no/test/haze.jpg
  24. just for fun, try to change these in your fs9.cfg, under "terrain",(backup the file first)TERRAIN_ERROR_FACTOR=100.000000TERRAIN_MIN_DEM_AREA=90.000000TERRAIN_MAX_DEM_AREA=400.000000TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL=21TERRAIN_TEXTURE_SIZE_EXP=8TERRAIN_AUTOGEN_DENSITY=3TERRAIN_USE_GRADIENT_MAP=1TERRAIN_EXTENDED_TEXTURES=1TERRAIN_DEFAULT_RADIUS=75.900000TERRAIN_EXTENDED_RADIUS=190.900000TERRAIN_EXTENDED_LEVELS=8Works for me, anyway.Regards,Tore Stabell Kul
  25. Hello!Thank you for a nice addon!I would like to know how to do this:With real weather active, I would like to edit the weather at my destination only, maybe I will make sure I will get a runway of my choice, or I will make sure I will get low visibility and clouds. So I am standing at an airport, with CAVOK, my destination has FEW clouds and no wind.Is there a way to edit the weather at the destination only (with a radius, of course)?I have tried to edit the weather, but then I get the same wind/weather at my departure airport as well.Hoping for a reply.Regards, tore Stabell,Oslo,Norway
