  1. IMHO: MS/Asobo needs to completely fix the many issues we have experienced with MSFS before they try to con us into buying another which will likely be just as rife with issues as MSFS.
  2. Thanks very much gentlemen! Will take your advice and see what happens. Will report back if successful. Cheers, Captain Tom
  3. Added a number of WOA packages to be able to see additional AI using WOA's Installation package. Now every time I start FSX I get 50, or so messages: "There are multiple objects with the same title name. They must have unique title names" Then each of the 50, or so, messages goes on to indicate the name of the "object," as an example "WOA_AIA_B732_FAB FirstAir Nite Lights Sim Obj\AI A/C\WOA_AIA_B732" I've checked a couple of them to ensure that the airplane.cfg does not repeat the same A/C twice. But am at a loss to understand what happened. Has anyone else had the same problem and if so, how did you solve it? Many thanks, Captain Tom
  4. Thanks Tuskin38!! I used a utility to convert the .bgls from FS9 to FSX. It will be nice to not have to do that when I migrate from FSX to MSFS. Am making the leap to MSFS as soon as PMDG delivers the 747. After hearing all the issues with the MSFS AI traffic, I'm happy to be able to use my own MAIW and WOAI files to populate the skies and airports. Cheers, Captain Tom
  5. Can FSX AI traffic .bgls be ported over to MSFS, or do they need to go through some conversion process like we did moving them from FS9 to FSX? Then how about the AI aircraft that go with those traffic files? Thaks very much, Captain Tom
  6. Thanks for your quick reply. I did not delete the file, I just changed the extension to .bak so it's still there. Will use your dropbox link to find the replacement file. Many thanks!!! Captain Tom
  7. Attempted to add a new FSX scenery, which I've done many times before. My FSX Scenery.cfg file got corrupted; all scenery in it vanished except for the one I was adding. I remember reading somewhere that if you delete the Scenery.cfg file, FSX will rebuild it. I tried that and it didn't work, the same corrupted file with only one entry showed up when I checked the Scenery Library. I'm deleting the Scenery.cfg file from C:Users\User\App Data\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX. What am I doing wrong? Any help will be greatly appreciated! Captain Tom
  8. Thank you Bob, Stans, and Chock! Appreciate your quick, insightful replies. There is much to consider here and, I hadn't even thought about P3D. Lots of homework to do here. Again, thank for your thoughts, they are greatly appreciated. Captain Tom
  9. Long time simmer who is getting back into it after being away for 8+ years due to work. I'm now retired, bought a new high horsepower desktop and wondering, is it better to leave my fully tricked out FS9 (scenery, AI, A/C) and go to FSX, or the new FS? I've read some of the issues with FS and not interested in being a beta tester for MS. 1) What can be transitioned from FS9 to either FSX or FS? I'm aware EZ Scenery doesn't support FSX or FS and that hurts me big time (just bought Instant Scenery and not impressed with its functionality). How about aircraft, AI aircraft, etc. What will transition? 2) Is FS now stable enough that those of you that are running it would fully recommend it, or...? I've got a lot to catch up with. Greatly appreciate any thoughts now that I have the horsepower to use either platform! Captain Tom
  10. Thanks Bob, that makes good sense for PMDG to concentrate on the 64 bit sims, they can do so much more. I have my QOTS2 still sitting in the hangar, will have to go back to "flight school" to relearn all its nuances. She's a beautiful piece of software! Cheers, Captain Tom
  11. Have been out of simming for over 2 years due to my work. Before that, I had downloaded the latest PMDG Queen of the Sky. I'm just now getting back into it and find that PMDG no longer appears to support FSX. The only plane they offer for FSX is the DC-6, the Queen is no longer showing on their web site(?) Will somebody be so kind as to update me on what has happened in the last two years with PMDG and the Queen. Much Thanks, Captain Tom
  12. Thanks BF. Appreciate your quick response!
  13. Making changes to an FSX airport in ADE by assigning airlines to different gates. When I compile the airport it indicates that there are missing third party libraries and provides me with a list of missing GUIDs. A string of 32 hex numbers is not very meaningful. How do I translate those GUIDs to find out what they are? If I go ahead and compile, the size of the new .bgl is significantly smaller that the original .bgl indicating to me that the missing GUIDs did not compile - although they apparently compiled in the original .bgl. I've read and reread the ADE Manual but it's not much help in this situation. Any help is appreciated!! Captain Tom
  14. Many, many thanks!!! That solved the problem, all skins are showing in FSX like they did in FS9. One more hurdle overcome 🙂
  15. Thank you both for your quick replies!! Must have somehow missed that setting in the Display Settings. Will uncheck it and hope that solves the problem. FSX has some interesting nuances. Cheers!
  16. Thanks for the quick reply!!! I have converted the traffic files to FSX but hadn't thought of DX10 being the culprit. Where do I find the DX10 box? I know it's not in the FSX.CFG file or in the FSX Settings. Many thanks!!
  17. Recently took the plunge and fired up FSX on my new screaming system. In moving my AI aircraft files from FS9 to FSX I noticed a number of the AI aircraft have no textures (white skins). I"m sure this issue was solved years ago by when FSX first came out but please help this Johnny Come Lately to the party. What's the solution please?
  18. I'm having somewhat of the same problem. Recently bought a system that can easily handle FSX so I'm finally migrating from FS9. The AI traffic available for FSX is significantly less than what is available for FS9 so I bought the latest Ultimate Traffic package, but it's missing some airlines I want to see. My problem occurs when I can't find an airline that has an FSX package and I attempt to move that airline's AI package from my FS9 to FSX and the planes show up with just a white texture (no skin). Is there a trick to make the plane's textures show up in FSX? Any help will be greatly appreciated!! I'm sure that in the past 10 years many have encountered this problem.
  19. Thanks Charlie!! I knew there was an app, but the acronym for it I couldn't remember. Bless you!
  20. I know this has been covered in the past, forgive me I'm just now moving to FSX and can't find it. There was an application to convert the FS9 AI flight plans/airports/aircrafts .bgl to allow them to work in FSX. Any help will be greatly appreciated!! Thanks.
  21. Will be ordering a new high end PC and planning on using a Nvidia GTX1080Ti. Wondering what the advantages are of having two GPUs, vs. just one. Any comments, or experience using two will be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Captain Tom
  22. Yes, that would be taking the structures that reside in the Google Earth Warehouse and installing them in FS9, or FSX (I run both of them).
  23. Thanks for the info F70! Amazing. I've been flying for 10 years, am not an IT novice but just starting to get into this. There must be a process you go through to bring in the Google Warehouse item in and place it in your FS. Where can I go to find that process? Thanks!!!!
  24. Thank you all for your help. That's the greatest thing about this hobby, helping each other and making the hobby better as the result. Appreciate all the comments!!! Happy flying, and designing, to you all!!
  25. Thanks for the info Mike! I was pretty sure that it was not a "main stream" capability or I would have heard more about it. Now I know and will move on. Sure seemed like a great way to populate my scenery with true-to-life visuals tho. :(
