  1. Yeah, sorry Jim, I wasn't clear in my reply. It CTD's over and over and I've never seen it use the Primary server. Likewise, I've never seen the original ASA use the Secondary server, always primary.cheers, steve :(Edit: Just tried it one more time and it finally did try to use Primary Server, but. . . . .CTD anyway.
  2. It is, Jim. I've redownloaded and reinstalled multiple times. Original ASA runs without a problem, but as soon as I update with the beta it CTD's as it starts to download weather. Original ASA always downloads from Primary server and Beta always from Secondary. Doesn't get far enough to make an entry in the log file. Thanks, steve
  3. Hi Damian,Darn, the forum is tough this morning. Saw you were having troubles too.Anyway: P6 : 471ebf5bI notice that with the initial install, weather is downloaded from the Primary Server and with the update it's trying to download from the Secondary Server.cheers, steve :(
  4. I'm getting CTD with ASA after installing the beta update. Went back to original ASA and no CTD. Redownloaded the update, installed again, and it CTD's again. Each time it crashes as it gets to the "downloading weather" line on the main screen as it initializes. I'm FSX SP2 and Windows XP SP3 32 bit. Error says: Event Type: clr20r3 P1: asa_exec.exe P2 11.0.0.355 P3: 4967dfa1 Nothing in the log file.Let me know if you need more. I am another who's had some Oom issues with the original. On the bright side, to me ASA is a huge advance over ASX in the way weather is depicted. I've got 10,000 real hours and I truly can't believe how close my FSX is now to the real thing in crummy weather. The way the runway comes out of the murk now is just sooooo good. I like it so much I hate to report a problem. :( Thanks for the help.steve :(
  5. I'd love to see some panel options, particularly in a clickable VC only format. My interest is mostly in early DC-3 airline service, both pre and post war. Be great to see period panel options to fit the various time periods the airplane has flown in.Along the same vein, it would be great if some version of the Radio Range program could be implemented in FSX. So great to fly this plane by dah dit and di dah in FS9 and it would be really nice to be able to do the same with the wonderful scenery in FSX.On the modern end, it might be pretty cool to have two or three PT-6A's providing the power. Have seen a few of those planes in RL and they're pretty impressive. That said, just to have the MAAM DC-3 with an FSX model will be plenty to keep me happy. Thanks guys.cheers, steve
  6. >Good input Steve.>>I haven't dug into the manual a bunch yet though....can you>run this aircraft into the yellow arc consistently? I really>had to back off the throttle to keep it in the green.>Since it's a homebuilt, you're sorta on your own as far as yellow arcs and even redlines go. Rutan had recommended speeds, but it was really up to the builder to test speeds and develop limits. Personally, I'd have no problem flying up in the yellow arc area unless it's rough.Check out the "speed brakes" on the rudders too. They were independent and you just pushed until you got brakes at the end of the travel. Because of that, you can actually push both rudders in flight (brakes) and get a little speed brake effect as they each deflect outward at the same time.cheers, steve :)
  7. I built a Long EZ many years ago and that airplane's paint is included in Alphasim's release. I'm not part of their team, but did get an opportunity to fly it before release.Alphasim did a great job here. It's a full FSX model, great frame rates, and the VC, unlike some of their releases, is just super. You never need to leave the VC.I'm really pleased with the flght model. As a real life pilot, I'm so disappointed when a model looks great but flies nothing like the real one. This one IS a Long EZ, quirks and all. The canard makes for some different handling, not bad just different. The Alphasim flight model is very good and I've been impressed.cheers, steve :)

I've gotten several emails from Captain Sim this morning and a new sound gauge to try. Results so far are positive as I've now got torque indication and my prop reverse is functional again. Still looking at a couple of possible issues.I am happy with the way Captain Sim has responded to my issues. I've had serious doubts about whether I'd buy from them again, but at least in this case, I think they are really working hard to solve my problems and I realize that my issues are related to my system and not common to all.cheers, steve :)
  9. I just posted again on Captain Sim's forum. After install of oalinst.exe, I can now load up the SP1 version. Before I was CTD on the preview screen in free flight, but not a blue screen.I've still got gauge issues and my props are not controllable nor reverserable. Haven't tried some of the bus fixes or config fixes I've read yet--no more tonight. I'll ck it again tomorrow.I'm a Creative sound card user too, and it seems to be a fairly common thread for those of us having issues.I will say I'm surprised by how quickly they pulled the patch and that they seem to really be working on fixing it. Every time this stuff happens with Captain Sim, I swear I'll never ever buy anything from them again and only bought the C-130 after so many good posts on various boards about it. If they do fix this stuff promptly, they may actually hook me for another purchase down the road. I cannot believe I just wrote that.cheers, steve :)
  10. I really like InCabin Browser. Cool to do some browsing on a long flight and it's also great for viewing PDF approach charts or manuals. Easy to hide, too, and that's nice for me in the approach environment.cheers, steve :)
  11. Damian,The simconnect installer in the SDK fixed the problem with no reinstalls. Everything is working fine now.Again, thanks for the help on this. Makes it easy to buy new stuff when you guys come out with it. Thats not true for everyone.cheers, steve :)
  12. Thanks Damian, I'll give those two solutions a try before a complete reinstall.Appreciate the support from you guys.cheers, steve :)
  13. I'm running into exactly the same issue here, so I'm wondering if there's something amiss by installing acceleration over a fresh, no sp1 install of FSX?I just did a totally clean install, fresh Windows XP, FSX, Accleration, and then added my scenery stuff and all was fine until I tried to install Active Sky and got the same sim connect error message.Couple of days of work down the tubes here as I get ready to do an FSX, SP1, Acceleration, Active Sky install and see if that works better. Oh well. FSX always has me spending more time installing and tweaking and fixing than actually flying.cheers, steve :-)
  14. I'm a flight sim noob, but an old RL pilot, and my first impression of FSX pre SP1 was pretty bad. SP1 helped things quite a bit for my fairly capable computer, but this bundle takes the thing to a whole new level of immersion.I'll admit I really thought twice before paying all that money, but I'm really glad I did. Not much time yet to really explore the programs other than to comment on the dramatic improvement.Pretty messy day for this time of year here in the Pacific Northwest, but now FSX looks really close to the way it looks outside. At the very least I now feel like I'm flying in the sim and not trying unsuccessfully to convince myself of that, the way it was before.Anyway, happy customer here and appreciate the hard work I know you guys have put into these two great programs.cheers, steve
