  1. Hi all, I have a little workshop(or rather my folks do outside of Brisbane, I just concreted the floor recently) I also purchased drill press and tools at Farm Fest etc. There is a ton of RHS and other steel available for playing,, I welded straight for 2 weeks making thinhs for the farm before I moved to Brisbane and Im sure no one else is going to' have-at' all the surplus :) A few years ago I purchased windscreen wipers<-- naa, too small. Then I purchased hydraulic stuff off ebay<-- 'forget about it' I found some C# or VB software FSUIPC that allowed me to easily see what the plane was doing. I just had to write a simple frontend to that software for me to visually see the outputs. Too easy but Ive forgotten all that , what it was who wrote it etc. It was for MS 2004/FSX from memory. I have played around with micro-controllers from Parallax and Picaxe, the output of data would go to a microcontroller or two and they would activate 'something' for the movment.I guess i just want to build something. what has me reinterested is I finding linear actuators that are very affordable with 500mm travel with speed and power(90kilo load).Plus desiging and building the frame would be a hoot. However will this really add much to the experience I wonder. Is there a homebuilt moving sim in Bris that I could try out? Or what are the opinions of others .thankyou.[edit] I just found this, to save my poor head from working out gow to plan when or if the platform should actually move--> http://buggies.built...m/software.html
  2. I have just purchased FSX Deluxe. Its very good. Ive even has a lot of fun downloading fighter Jets. Some cockpits and the controls are very good.I would like to fly on an online network, like VATSIM or VATPAC but I havent much idea how to get going. Could you point me to some help files for stupid people :)
  3. Im a bit confused. I flew once online cant remember who with. Is this the sitew where you log flight plans and is overseen by aircraft tower ? If so is there an easy tute to get me going again? I use FS 2004, do i need to doeload something called squark box or some other software. I think i am after the ost realistic experience. Could somebody help get me started? First what softwars do i nedd to install ? What is the best tutorial or starting point. Help, im dying to try again.Sincerly , Mick, Qld Australia.ps is there a different oceiana site i should be contacting. Any and all tips very much welcome/needed
  4. Yep ,I must be refering to VATSIM, actually I thought that VATSIM and AVSIM were competing sites for multiplayer. I am currently bidding on MS2004 at $15.50. I looked up requirments a nd I can easily run MS2004.I have used MS2004 in the past. I was surprised to find it had my home town airport in Toowomba. Well if it wasn't 2004 it was 2002. A town of 100,000 and a very small airport. Not sure what the rating as far as what class of plane can use it, my guess is anything much bigger than a twin engine cherokee(sorry bout spelling) would be pushing it. I remember trying to take off in a jumbo jet from that airport. I dont know if it is even possible because(embarrasing) I couldnt figure out how to start the plane engines let alone try a takeoff :(I jst thought it was outstanding that it had this little airport in it already with no need for addon. But, can you purchase an addon for Queensland Australia that would make the airport and town more realistic ?One more funny thing.... I was working for a fencing contractor, building miles of cattle fencing. My employer had a pilots license(Rob). I told him about my flight sim program MS2002 and we talked about planes etc during smoko breaks.(ie cup of tea time). I explained how I had been trying to fly a De Havilland(again sorry for spelling) and I could not even start it up and taxi on the runway. So anyway he came over to my house after work, and after I started up the sim he had no problem showing me how to start the engines and take off :)After that he was hooked. He bought his own copy of the simulator!
  5. I think that I will stick to MS2004 if I can find a cpy, With regard to multiplayer I think there were/are at least two wys of going about it. With MS2002/2004 you could just select some type of 'Multiplayer' button or you could join a site like avsim.I think you have to file a flight plan when using avsim multiplayer servers. Also you have to obey commands from the 'Authorities'.
  6. Hello, I'm posting here because I am wondering what FS I should buy. I have a Sempron 3300 1 gig ram and about to upgrade vid card to best AGP I can get which is only $150.I was thinking I should maybe buy MS 2004 second hand due to the limits of my hardware. I think that multiplayer is something that I consider most important along with realistic airports ..well realistic everything.Do both x-plane and MSFS use multiplayer in much the same way ? Does one offer a better multiplayer experience over the other ?Does x-plane 9 require more computing power than MS2004 ?
  7. Hi everyone, I just installed squarkbox, and the ony problem i an having is my username and password are not recognised ? Where to I change this in avsim or find out ? etc ?
  8. Thanks for all your help thus far, inclusive your first quick response to my registering the dll.Ive been making a bit of progress. There was a lot to read through for my initial basic needs, however the pointer to the SDK of FSUIPC and also the example code contained is really well presented.I noticed a new C# .Net 2 update at your forum. So I couldn't help I guess but go with that.Mike.
  9. Hi , I would like to ask if using the fsuipc sdk, dll is the same for MSFS98 as it is for FS2002/2004 ?I wish to get the bank , and pitch (for a start) using the methodresult = fsuipc.FSUIPC_Read(dwOffset, dwSize, ref token, ref dwResult);Just for the moment 98 is the only sim software I have. I would like to try out some experimenting before I invest in either fs2004 or FSX.thanks.MM.Lps. Im wading through the docs and code, havent decided quite yet to dust off the 'old 98' and install.:")
