  1. The EFB if implemented, would likely be like the HGS in the NGX. Some will use it, others won't. To me it all depends on how PMDG does it. Aivlasoft EFB generates charts based off of navigraph data, but they lack a lot of the info that real charts have. For that reason, I think that having a PDF reader for the EFB if thats what Captain Sim did, at least allows realism for those who want it.

  2. I give CS a lot of respect for publishing quality classic jets. Their 727 is good, their 737 is better, and their 707 is great. Flying these airplaines without auto-throttles, FMC's, FADEC's requires airmenship.and knowledge. To me, there is nothing better than flying some of the older equipment, and then flying the modern equipment and realize how much automation has made life easier.

  3. First, RC sometimes does not acknolege that you are at the right altitude. It just happens. Secondly, you are probably missing crossing altitudes because RC doesn't know your weight or maximum decent rate. If it says I need you level in 30 miles and it will take you 40 miles to do it with engines at idle and full spoinler, instead of reading back tell them that you are unable.

  4. CoolIP is correct. This turbine engine is not the same as a piston engine. In general props on piston engines are connected to the cranksaft. A turbine engine works differenty. The Compression section and the hot section are seperate. In a jet think N1 and N2. What motoring is doing is driving the cold compression portion of the engine. Thus just like fans on your computer it is drawing air in and through the Hot section of the engine. Since the Hot section also has rotating parts, this air movement causes the Hot section to turn as well and through the transmission, the prop will spin. Check out the diagram below of the PT6.

FSX really breaks down when it comes to turbo props. It is unable to treat the Hot and Cold halves of the engine seperately. Therefore developers are stuck tweeking the behavior of the engine to try to emulate how it really works. A seperate prop animation would be difficult to produce as it would still be tied to what FSX is assuming the engine rotation visually is.

  5. A valid route should have a origin, destination and at least one intermediate waypoint. Since you have an FMC it is not made to run like the default FSX 747. If you just want a simple flight plan, instead of intermediate waypoints, just select a departure runway and an approach for the destination. Not a STAR, and approach ie ILS 24R. That will give you four waypoints by they will all be within a few miles of the airport. This will also prevent you from having delete issues as long as you don't try to delete the leg your are currently flying.

  6. You would basically need to use a drawn to scale chart which shows your parking space and measure it out. Even then that depends on the accuracy of the FSX airport. Another option is to use GSX. Then the tugs will follow the line. Kind of handy.
