  1. My first time flying was in July 2010. I had never been on an airplane before and there I was taking off on the airplane myself lol. I had lots of flight simulator experience which taught me fundamentals but I still had never been in a real plane. I was always scared of aircraft especially after 2001 but after flying in the Cessna 172 that day I never looked back. The experience was so nice and beautiful and I got a bit of an adrenaline rush. At first I wanted to get back on the ground after taking off because I was so scared and I never left earth before but after 30 minutes I was comfortable and loving it. You shouldn't be scared, the only way to face your fears is to conquer them so if you like take a ride at your local airport with an FBO and take a discovery flight. It won't hurt and it will be tons of fun :-). Plus you should be more scared of being on an airliner than such a small plane like a Cessna that's been around for over 70 years. Infact it's even better not to fear both, airliners are the same thing as those small planes as well. They might have more parts, be bigger, and carry more passengers but they work off the same physics.

  2. I actually have Windows 8 installed on my laptop and I'm loving it a lot. It boots up faster than Windows 7, restarts faster than windows 7, the task manager is VERY detailed now, at times it uses less resources, etc, etc. The only thing I miss is the start menu but there are easy workarounds for that if you look them up on the net and Metro UI can search programs just like the start menu easily. I love how smooth everything is though and with the release preview released a week ago they removed some eye candy and plan to remove Aero maybe. I like this because it centers the focus on the applications themselves. I don't have FSX on this laptop unfortunately because I had to clean install but I'm pretty sure it will work well. Haven't run into any problems with any DirectX or OpenGL games and all my programs have worked normally.

  3. Wow, this really wants me to purchase X-Plane but maybe I'll hold off till I get a 1TB HDD so I can install the 80GBs of scenery! The colours and atmosphere in the shots are truly astonishing. Visual detail is definitely a plus for me when your trying to get "as real as it gets." Great selection of shots!

  4. Hi everyone!I've been a long time flight simmer since about 2009 and I've been training in real life from time to time since last year. I just started my first semester of college this year and also got a job to pay for things (such as tuition) this August so I've been away from aviation and all things flight sim for a while, kind of sad! LOL.gif Anyway I'm wondering what are the die for things that must be had this year since about September. I saw the PMDG 737 and the Flight1 FSX C182T which I bought, what else is there?

  5. Thanks everyone, sorry it took a while to reply, I've been really busy lately getting a job and starting the first year at college. The ground texture's are the default FSX scenery believe it or not lol. I recently bought UTX Europe though (haven't had anytime to fire up FSX though) so I'm hoping to do this flight again and see how much similar or different it is!

  6. Nice shots and they bring back some recent memories. I did the north Atlantic crossing for real in my friend's TBM700 two months ago, stopping at Canada, Greenland, Iceland, Scotland, England and finally Paris. Was a wonderful trip.
Lucky you! The TBM700 is a wonderful plane and after I saw it for the first time, I've become a turboprop addict lol. Cheers

  7. Last time I posted in this forum I was flying from the Faroe Islands in the North Atlantic to the northern part of the UK in my Lancair IV-P. This time I'm continuing southbound but also heading eastward a little to end up in England, and I'm flying the Marchetti SF260. The flight's have been amazing and the scenery is great except the weather is a bit cloudy in this part of the world lol! No wonder people from england always say it's always rainy and cloudy here tongue.png, but despite that the flights have been great. BTW the scenery in the shots are from tileproxy. I started using it again after a year and I'm glad I went back. Photoreal scenery in every part of the world is great, as well as the coverage in England using Bing Maps. I can finally see all landmarks from the sky and I don't see the same land textures over and over again! Anyway, here are those pics from the flight: 201181618753833.jpg --------------------------------- 201181618830168.jpg --------------------------------- 20118161899857g.jpg --------------------------------- You can check out the rest of the images here: ImageShack Tileproxy Shots Picture Album

  8. It's rare to find me posting screenshots on this forum, but I'm getting back into FSX and the whole flying thing so I decided to share some shots today from my early morn' ga flight. Flew from the Vagar Airport (EKVG) which is part of the Faroe Islands. The scenery there is really beautiful, I recommend that anyone that takes that flies out of there to take a quick look @ the scenery. Flew the Lancair IV-P on this flight =D Sun rises as I fly over the Atlantic. On the second leg of the flight, still got a little bit to go before I see land!20118611012586.jpgA little cloudy, but nothing out of the norm. FP is IFR anyway!20118611040460.jpgPlane cruising doing 280 KTS groundspeed easily with 72% power! IAS is around 215 KTS.20118611133421.jpgTried to get some cool angles for this flight. We’ll be there soon!20118612128447.jpgInbound the beautiful Isle of Lewis for approach at EGPO2011861423211.jpgRunway in sight, coming in for the visual runway 17/18!20118614537736.jpgPlane is parked and ready for shutdown! Time to get some food and drinks and rest up for the next flight south.20118615424721.jpgOverall, it was a great flight (but when is it ever bad in this plane really [kudos to orbx] ? unless I screw up the landing lol). Really enjoyed the sunrise and the view is awesome flying towards the UK. Hope I can do this in real life sometime and explore the world a little bit (the chilly northern air would sure be refreshing)

  9. I haven't been keeping up with all this aviation news and technology lately because of school but it seems to me like Boeing is losing support on the 737 even though there are airlines like AirTran, American replacing their 737s and SouthWest replacing some of their older 737 fleet. The thing is, and correct me if I'm wrong, is that Airbus has had the A320 for a long time without updating and introducing as many variants as the Boeing 737. It seems like many airlines are replacing the 737 in favor of the Airbus A320 and I wonder if that's because the cabin width is slightly longer or if it's because of crew friendliness in terms of systems. I'm not sure what the burn rate is on the A320 but maybe it's also more fuel efficient... I'm not going to lie though... I like the layout of the A320 cockpit far more than the Boeing 737's layout.. it just seems cleaner and spacious. I don't like the Airbus systems that much though (too many automated functions) except the MCDU seems easy to use.The 737 has lived a long life and I think that it's time for there to be a fresh new place in the Boeing series, besides... there's no space for another plane really cause there is a 737-900 unless they want a 737-1000 LOL.
