  1. I honestly fail to see the benefits of getting an SSD for a rig when you look at the price and amount of space you're getting. Yes the interface is fast, but it might be easy to fill up the space. Unless money is disposible for someone I would just get a fast HDD and a motherboard with SATA III to futureproof if you ever want an SSD.
  2. Congratulations. You've made it farther than many people have even dreamed off. Keep going, don't stop or give up!
  3. This aircraft looks SPECTACULAR. Really loving how the VC looks and the configuration of it. Definitely a plane I will put on my wish list and very nice shots sir!
  4. I know how it feels to be away from FSX for a long time. I've had to stay away for a whole year!! Glad to be coming back to simulation slowly again though over this summer :-) Enjoy the flights when you can!
  5. My first time flying was in July 2010. I had never been on an airplane before and there I was taking off on the airplane myself lol. I had lots of flight simulator experience which taught me fundamentals but I still had never been in a real plane. I was always scared of aircraft especially after 2001 but after flying in the Cessna 172 that day I never looked back. The experience was so nice and beautiful and I got a bit of an adrenaline rush. At first I wanted to get back on the ground after taking off because I was so scared and I never left earth before but after 30 minutes I was comfortable and loving it. You shouldn't be scared, the only way to face your fears is to conquer them so if you like take a ride at your local airport with an FBO and take a discovery flight. It won't hurt and it will be tons of fun :-). Plus you should be more scared of being on an airliner than such a small plane like a Cessna that's been around for over 70 years. Infact it's even better not to fear both, airliners are the same thing as those small planes as well. They might have more parts, be bigger, and carry more passengers but they work off the same physics.
  6. I actually have Windows 8 installed on my laptop and I'm loving it a lot. It boots up faster than Windows 7, restarts faster than windows 7, the task manager is VERY detailed now, at times it uses less resources, etc, etc. The only thing I miss is the start menu but there are easy workarounds for that if you look them up on the net and Metro UI can search programs just like the start menu easily. I love how smooth everything is though and with the release preview released a week ago they removed some eye candy and plan to remove Aero maybe. I like this because it centers the focus on the applications themselves. I don't have FSX on this laptop unfortunately because I had to clean install but I'm pretty sure it will work well. Haven't run into any problems with any DirectX or OpenGL games and all my programs have worked normally.
  7. Wow, this really wants me to purchase X-Plane but maybe I'll hold off till I get a 1TB HDD so I can install the 80GBs of scenery! The colours and atmosphere in the shots are truly astonishing. Visual detail is definitely a plus for me when your trying to get "as real as it gets." Great selection of shots!
  8. This. I remember there was discussion some time ago about an error in the FSX prop model and that same propeller planes need carburetor heat turned on by pressing the hotkey I'm guessing.
  9. I have ORBX PNW and the blue area in Austrailia. Love their scenery, it's very high quality and comparable to none in my opinon. You get scenery that looks almost photoreal with autogen, can't ask for any more than that hah. Thanks.
  10. Wow these shots are fantastic. Actually that is an understatement they are absolutely mind-blowing! I'm starting to wonder if FS11 was released while I was away from FSX all this time. :(
  11. Hi everyone!I've been a long time flight simmer since about 2009 and I've been training in real life from time to time since last year. I just started my first semester of college this year and also got a job to pay for things (such as tuition) this August so I've been away from aviation and all things flight sim for a while, kind of sad! Anyway I'm wondering what are the die for things that must be had this year since about September. I saw the PMDG 737 and the Flight1 FSX C182T which I bought, what else is there?
  12. Thanks everyone, sorry it took a while to reply, I've been really busy lately getting a job and starting the first year at college. The ground texture's are the default FSX scenery believe it or not lol. I recently bought UTX Europe though (haven't had anytime to fire up FSX though) so I'm hoping to do this flight again and see how much similar or different it is!
  13. Lucky you! The TBM700 is a wonderful plane and after I saw it for the first time, I've become a turboprop addict lol. Cheers
  14. WOW! That really is some great scenery!! Hopefully I can get this in a couple paychecks hehe. Your shots look awesome BTW!
  15. That shot of the overhead panel could go on airliner.net! It looks so freakin real, I'm still in disbelief.
