  1. I do agree with you there. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. My reply to the others was to mention that the DCS: A-10C which did release (had to be purchased) the Beta to the public... I'm sure after internal testing... has been a great success. Every patch that comes out (should be the next one soon) will pretty much fix what's left. There's more to it than just the aircraft though, it's the whole simulator. In anycase, I just read that a release date will be given soon.
  2. I don't step in here much, and I know this is a completely different scenerio, but the Digital Combat Simulations A-10C Warthog sim (standalone combat sim) was released for purchase last year as an Open Beta. They still used internal testers before releasing a patch to the next beta (there were 4, with each one being released a few months after the last)... however, by releasing (selling) the open beta the company had the chance to see how the software worked on a very large variety of computers and systems. They had also opened a Beta Forum where people could post in roughly 20 different topics. That forum was only open to those that purchased the software.I had purchased DCS: A-10C at Beta 1, about 2 weeks after it was released. I'm happy I did so as it helped me learn the aircraft systems and the simulator itself. In the meantime, I was able to report bugs which then ended up in a later patch. There was also work done on a "Nevada Terrain" which included Las Vegas, for Red Flag combat training and Operations. Beta 4 saw the loss of that due to an FPS issue everyone was having, and they wanted to do a lot more work on it. The Terrain will be released when finished, and those that pre-purchased (Beta) the simulation will get the terrain pack for free. Those that waited for the final release will have to buy it.I have to agree with Infantry1id and Veldthui inthat, the 20-50 or even 100 testers that are checking to see if this aircraft works the way it should compared to the real world, doesn't take into account the 250k - 500k (or a lot more) people that will be using the aircraft on a daily basis. I'm not saying I wish PMDG would release a Beta type aircraft to purchase as DCS did, however, I definitely would like to know if I can do all the things the aircraft is supposed to do without having 1 FPS and total stutters where I can't really do anything... before paying whatever the cost is for the aircraft. I'm sure it won't be that bad, but I'm hoping you all see my point.
  3. As per Ryan's Signature:"Specs: MSI P55-GD65 | Intel Core i7 860 OC @ 4.0GHz | EVGA GTX570 1280MB | 4GB (2X2GB) Corsair Dominator DDR3-1600 | Cooler Master CM Storm Sniper case | LG 246W 24" LCD | Logitech G15 & G5 | Windows 7 Ultimate x64 RTM"
  4. I have a question, and Ryan I think you answered it a while back, but there are already so many pages! First off, such Beautiful work from all of you at PMDG! My question deals with this image below. I noticed on the side of the engine Nacelle, that there are reflections of clouds, however, from the actual jet you would most likely not see anything, or at least a reflection of the aircraft itself. Can this be implemented or is it an FSX issue? I tried finding a good picture online to show what I mean, and even found a video taken on a AA738 at MIA, clear day... from the video I really can't see any reflection of anything on the inside of the starboard nacelle.
  5. I agree. While I haven't flown a CATIII approach, I have flown a CATII with the HUD and it's priceless. Without it, the approach is just too busy to stay focused realistically. If you think you can fly a full CATIII approach without the HUD, while handflying, try doing it real world first before you say anything.
  6. Why not just put your full name in your signature so it follows the rules of having it in every post? Here's a question... I know the JS41 has all doors opening, but was wondering if the NGX will have the ability to open everything (including the aft and starboard doors for loading through AES)?
  7. All of you who feel the need to complain, and complain some more, the NGX will be out before Xmas, so quit your complaining, enjoy the pictures that are given to us (they could just say "too bad, we're not showing until it's done") and go fly the other aircraft in your hangar until the NGX is released. If you're like me and many others that fly on a daily basis, you enjoy the wait and previews. Saying nasty things and getting heated over how PMDG chooses to market their product with snippets is not going to get the plane here faster.
  8. Thanks for the reply Dan. It'd be great if the NGX gets the shared cockpit. I know the Maddog MD-82 has a shared cockpit feature which works awesome. It's a shame that not every aircraft is able to be shared.
  9. Hey PMDG,I keep seeing reference to "PF/PNF" in the manual for the JS4100, which I understand the meanings of... but was wondering if there is support for shared cockpit, and if not, is there a way to add it? I think the FS2Crew is a great addon for an FO, but having 2 people working together would make the flying even more fun and realistic. If this has been mentioned before, my appologies. I went though a bunch of pages in here.
  10. Bryan, thanks for the super quick response. I'll probably get both, but will start out with the J41 first. Thanks for keeping up the good work.
  11. Hey Bryan,Just a quick question concerning the Video Marshaller for the J41... can it also be used with every aircraft, or would I have to buy the Video Marshaller separate to use with the other aircraft. I'll most likely be buying today, but don't want to have to make two purchases if I can help it.Jack
  12. German word for runway is Landebahn. (think of Autobahn for the highway, but for aviation ;) )
  13. I have flown the Ariane, and while it's a great addon, I prefer PMDG... and since we shouldn't argue about who's better than who, let's get back on the subject of how great the NGX looks and will be... maybe with a new screenshot bigger than just a sliver so we have more than a 1" wide view to stare at (like the way the overhead picture was done) ;)
  14. I don't mind there being wingviews, although I never use them. If they should happen to be included, can there be an option in the PMDG menu to turn them off to save any sort of memory?
  15. I am so glad I'm not the only one on this part. My wife will sit on the couch with full view of the monitor, and wait until I've started hand flying the ILS when she asks if I can help her with something, or ask me to do something else... it's like "dear, can't you see that I'm about to land, and any distractions from the peanut gallery will end the lives of a few hundred virtual passengers?" hehe.
