  1. Ok so FS9 can be on my other drive (500GB ) in its own folder / directory presumably that means i have to custom install ?
  2. I'm doing a fresh install of FS9 on the new computer It has an SSD mainly for quick bootup, but am wondering if there is room for all my addons if i let fs9 and all the other stuff install there in Program files / microsoft games etc I will be installing O/S is Win 7 (64) 1 FS Genesis Europe 2 Ultimate terrain Europe 3 REX 4 Couple of extreme airports 5 dreamfleet 727 6 Ifly 737 7 ??? Possibly Ground environment I've no idea how much space it will all take up but would have thought it either impossible or very tight Does it all have to be installed in the Programmes FS9 directory ? What parts can be installed outside of the SSD ie on the HDD is it all outside or all in ? Any reccomendations welcome Thanks Boyd

  5. Just upgraded my on board screen graphics to a 2nd hand Nvidia 9800GT 1MB DDR3 and my IT savvy nephew has installed latest drivers for me I now notice that I am getting freezes for say 20secs or so when cycling views using S The sound continues and it eventually changes . My processor is a 3.3Ghz Dual core phenom and using XP as O/S . I am wondering if it is driver related and I should try an Older version of the Driver I am also running Rex 2004 Thanks Boyd
  6. I would like to configure a 2nd display to show the LHS window view for:Circuits .... judging final turnLanding Peripheral visionEye candy AI when Taxying at the airportScenery when Flying straight and levelI have no Idea how to do it re undocking and dragging or starting a new windowCould I alter this side window to be say FMC or Comms when busy setting these and then revert back to side windowHelp!!!!!!!
  7. I have been reccomended the ATI Radeon HD 6770 1meg memory retails about £83 with eyefinity and not too hungry on the power requirements looks a good solution to my inexperienced eye .????
  8. Suggestions for a video card to match my current M/B hardware setup and to drive a 40inch LCD TV and one monitor for sideview or instruments also to be able to use two monitors side by side and possibly three In Total for FS2004Slots in the motherboard are PCI express ( 1 X PCIe 2.0 x 16 ) , 1 PCIe X 1 , 2 PCIWill 1 new card do it ?Should I go for Triple head to go ( digital or analogue ?? ) as well as a cardOther options???Note that with my FS2004 its a seperate boot on the disk and my O/S is XPI am looking for something simple to operate and setup with minimal / ideally no conflictsThanksBoyd
  9. Unless its a high end sony they are not renowned fro response times Look at Samsung
  10. OK I'm looking at 40inch (1080 X 1920 ) TV for My display I am FS2004 on C152 or LD 767Display will be driven by laptop or Dual core 3.3Ghz AMDThe Things stalling me are the refresh rate at either 50 or 100Hz given there is quite a bit of Price difference from one to the other.Planning on using my 19 (4:3 ) LCD display as a side window or instrument panelThinking about Dual output Graphics Card again without busting the Budget. Any suggestions ?I am more into the flying / instruments than the eye candy out of the window ie not really into photorealistic scenery, but will likely go for detailed airports and traffic at the airport.Feedback from anyone who has gone or tried this route ?40 inch desire came from this http://www.youtube.com/user/Lespindo2#p/u/24/25gVc8DZIw4Thanks
  11. Interim Report I have the AMD 560 Black 3.3Ghz Dual core 2G Patriot memory ASUS M/B Onboard Graphics at moment as I cant decide on 3 monitors or a 32 inch HD TV currently trialling the TV.My software goals are nowLevel D 767 (over FS2 crew and PMDG 747 QOS and iFLY ) I am relatively inexperienced this seems user friendly with helpful programs on the side to help with fuel and FMC loadingUltimate terrain Europe (Got )Mesh FS Global (over genesis )Textures Ground Environment ProREX (2004)some airports unknown at presentAI Traffic not a clue yet!!!!!Any Comments So Far???????
  12. I had a similar response to one of my posts and wonder if Fs2004 is running and windows is running with no other apps, then what is the equivalent speed gain???? ie does this mean a Core 2 Duo at say 2.8Ghz has a better benchmark performance nthan a singlecore P4 ( Hyperthreading enabled ) at say 3.2Ghz ????? or is it because of theprevious trick mentioned below???Come on Guys which bit of the chip architecture makes this so ..........if correct? I can appreciate the earlier comment of sending all the non Fs2004 stuff through the other processor that sounds a good Idea .My proposed solution is to have Second XP bootable drive with only Fs2004 on it plus the Scenery Mesh REx etc add ons on and no other programs on it
  13. Hi from UK , Just decided to Upgrade my FS2004 set up to something that "rocks"Hardware First - Looking for a new MoBo & Processor aiming at 3.4-3.6 GHz not neccessarily dual core as FS2004 is written for 1 coreGraphics card Not sure Probably a Geforce 1MB or 512Monitor will be 32 37 or 40 HD TV dependant on trials Operating System - decided to Keep XP as FS2004 / XP same EraNext is the Bits I've spent nearly 2 days looking intoI like the Heavy Metal so its PMDG queen of Skies (Voice Commander edition ???)Next Up is FS2 Crew for Co-pilot functions & Checklist calls V1 etcThen the Real Hard Bit Ultimate Terrain Europe to Improve the Daytime & Nightime View from cockpitFlight Environment For Clouds / water/ textures Day / Dusk / clouds (chosen over REX )Then I get into real trouble I want the airports to look "reasonable" and not sure if anything above does that? I use most airports in Uk so no good having heathrow extreme or the likes, I just really want ant UK or european airport to look better than the default FS2004Mesh -Do I need anything ???? ie FS Global spec Edition + Ground Environment ?? (-improves Ulimate terrain???)So that is really about it All seem good for Frame RateWhat do you reckon guys Is it a reasonable choice what may i have got wrong Thanks in advance
  14. What spec & type is your projector . What cable link do you use from video card?
  15. Thanks for that i agree with what you say I think I was leaning towards the TV to start with interesting about the refresh rate i had heard that it depends on an individuals eyes ie some people need a high refresh rate whereas some ( the majority ) cannot distinguish a higher refresh rate I thought the ms time for the pixel was the key feature ie 2-5ms as the pixel response time ??probably need an LCD TV forum here now rather than FS2004 or hardware section of this site
  16. I have decided to treat myself to an improved Display for FS2004 and am considering either Cheap projector say £350 or a cheapish 40 inch TV either as a singular display or as a primary with say Nav or engine controls on the old 19 inch LCD monitor.II presume if the Primary display was on the Television i couldnt split nav or engines to the Old LCD monitor could I?? I have a smallish study sit at thedesk so 40 ich Tv or the display would only be 18" to 2 feet awayfactors i need advice on are ; resolution issues ???? Tv would be HD, projector resolution would probably be less at that budgETWould either choice affect Frame Rate???Search on the posts reveal a few with the 40 inch TV and not many with the Projected display Any comments appreciated Thanks in advance
