Ok in two days I have experienced two cases where the Avionics have locked up.  Once in the Cessna Caravan and once in the TBM930.

In the first case I was about 70nm out from KMCO and my Garmin displays locked up.   I could do things like change Altitude and Vert Speed...but it just wouldnt display in the screens.  And my MFD was locked in a 15 degree bank.  After about 5 min they started working again.

Second time in the TBM same thing happened as with Caravan. But I was also in icing conditions and ice building up.  So I went to turn on anti-ice and none of the switches would move.  But I clicked anyway and anti-ice turned on (even though switches showed off position).

On PC...current NVIDA drivers, Windows 10 with current updates.

I've been fortunate to not see what you listed, however, I have had the Baron 58 avionics suddenly switch off (with the switch still on), and the G1000 displays dim to about half their normal brightness. Cycling the AV power switch restored the AV power, but the displays stayed dim (making the purple on black text nearly impossible to read. Thankfully, the AP went back to do it's work, but it kept me from getting up from my chair to refill my coffee...

    This is new since v1.9.30.

I reported it via Zendesk and have yet to have any reply, unfortunately.

You could have at least temporarily removed your Prepar3d banner.

LOL, I’ve had banners removed on my forum settings for so long I don’t know what mine says...

Would you be surprised to know that I’m using MSFS everyday?

I can use the software and complain about it at the same time... in an effort to improve it. Defending Asobo and MS over obvious problems and limitations will NOT help.

This is my big concern reading about these LOD issues, that somehow Asobo is reducing it in order to meet some performance metrics for Xbox.

The sooner folks realize that we (PC simmers) are NOT their primary sales target, the sooner they will get over their disappointment.

And no, I don't really care what Asobo said about aiming the product at simmers. They are lying and in our heart of hearts we know it's true.

I'm with you, they just broke the Longitude a plane that wasn't on the list to get touched.  The incompetence is so random plus your forced to update which kills the option of holding off until they get it right.  As I said in another thread I'm with PMDG on this one...

The forced update is what's going to ultimately kill this as a serious simulator. There's just no way the third party devs are going to be able to keep up. Right now it takes months for updates to products made for P3D and X-Plane (if they ever are for XP...), are people expecting that updates won't break their addons?

    Interesting!

On my system the central valley looks like burnt toast - way too dark and way too red. I have an open (about a month now) thread on the Orbx support forum about Northern California being too red, have added SoCal as well.

It is so bad, at least to my eyes, that I immediately uninstalled it.

You don’t happen to use a third party shader do you? When I was testing NorCal the enhanced saturation from the shaders I was using was the source of the extreme red.

LMAO...havent been around software nor flight simming much have you?

Just since FS4, so a few versions of FS, as well as Flight Unlimited and the other wannabes from the mid 90's... Don't remember a flagship FS release where an aircraft was completely unusable, let alone where a release was $120 and included unusable aircraft.

The really unfortunate part of all of this, is that the apologists and self-flagellating fan b o y s will only ensure that MSFS 2020 will never be "finished," whatever that means.

Thanks for the encouragement, Tony! I'll probably jump in sometime next year after it's been polished up more. I'm a simple simmer and my technical abilities are also simple! I don't want to do the tweaking exercises anymore, like we did with FSX. So when you smart guys tell me this game is 98% finished and ready for prime time, I'll be listening! 😉

It'll be exactly 6 months according to all of the seers here. Been meaning to ask all of the members of the 6-month club to send me tomorrow's winning lottery numbers, but haven't gotten around to it.

I know it's frustrating but we need to give the devs a little slack, all flight sims have these sort of issues, after all Rome wasn't built in a day. I'm sure that within 6/12 months time we'll have a fantastic more complete sim to enjoy.

I know! It's crazy to assume that someone would expect a working product they paid for with their hard earned money, right?

  9. Can anyone else with the latest patch confirm that they cannot start the DA62 from cold and dark? When you get to the step to start the engines, the starter buttons don't seem to have any effect.

Also, the right G1000 doesn't turn on regardless of electrical switches... anyone can confirm that as well?

    Thanks!

Before any Asobo simps chime in, yes I have reported it via Zendesk.

I saw the Gladiator NXT Premium, and I fell in love with it 🥰. However, coming from the X-52 I currently have, it's hard for me to go back to an integrated throttle, despite getting fed up with the friction I get in my current stick.

I use a Logitech (formerly Saitek) USB Throttle with my Gladiator MCG. I hope to replace it with a Virpil or Warthog throttle eventually. I don’t actually have the base throttle mapped to anything at the moment, but map it to spoilers in combat sims as it’s something I don’t frequently use.

It really is hard to beat the precision and smoothness of the gimbal systems used in VKB and Virpil joysticks.

    1)  Microsoft have already said they are looking at this to speed up loading.

    2) Microsoft have already said they are looking at removing this as part of 1)

    3) Yeah kinda agree but following the tooltips helps somewhat,  The sheer complexity of the options shows how much potential is behind the scenes 🙂

    4) I know a lot of people have had issues with this, for me it was pretty basic and certainly better than reprogramming a lot of other software out there.

    5) These can be reduced by setting a smaller minimum font, or I believe there is now a user mod that removes them completely.

    6) Set developer mode on..  changing plane and location are available there.

As to the origional post..  I like the UI.. lets concentrate on getting some of the sim functionality sorted first 🙂

    Graham

    1-3: Thank goodness.

4: Really, for a supposed “simulator” the UI for controls is atrocious and I cannot wait for FSUIPC to be out of beta so I can ignore it completely. The implementation in this iteration is such a step back from what P3D or even FSX provides that it leaves me scratching my head for why people cheer on reduced capability.

5: Font size is at minimum, and they are still huge.

6: I can’t change to a specific parking spot with the developer options, nor can I hide the developer menu.

I guess my biggest complaint is the loss of functionality and ease of use. Like I said in my previous post, I understand that the UI is designed for the couch controller users, but if you knew that a large portion of your users would be using a PC with a mouse and keyboard why not include something more PC friendly?

  12. Stuff I like about the UI:

    1. It’s pretty

    2. Flight Setup screen with globe is cool (and pretty)

    3. Tooltips info in the right pane of the settings menu is handy and (somewhat) informative and accurate.

What I dislike about the UI:

    1. Performance Hog/Slow

    2. Click to play screen

    3. Lack of true data for understanding what graphics options actually do (beyond the obvious of AA or AF). Ultra/High/Medium means nothing to me.

    4. Controls setup is a nightmare and needs to be streamlined or have a streamlined option (like a DCS like controls setup spreadsheet for us multiple peripheral users). I understand this is a console and TV friendly setup, but it’s not uncommon to have PC centric controls setup screens in PC ports of console titles.

    5. Cockpit tooltips are HUGE. I again understand this is for the flying from the couch crowd but we should be able to make them smaller for those of us on PC.

    6. Lack of context menus (right-click menu for you young’ns), and lack of menu at the top to change aircraft, location, etc. Having to drop all the way back to the main menu to change some options is a bear for those of us testing aircraft, scenery, etc.

Really, if I had my way, they would replace the entire UI with the streamlined and well-groomed options UI from P3D but include a flight setup / planning tool like what MSFS2020 has.
