  1. Hi All I am running flight sim 2020 in ultra settings, as I have a fairly high end machine running 2 Gforce1080 graphics cards However when flying a flight using clear sky options, the horizon is so glary and bright, its almost blinding to look at. And there seems to be a constant haze around, but mainly on the horizon. Having looked at other youtube flights, this doesn't seem to be present in there vids. I have turned off bloom and light shafts anything that could cause this in settings. However it is still present. It detracts from seeing scenery detail due to the haze, and is very annoying. Any one have any idea how to clean this up and get nice horizon scenery without the glare and haze, Its like looking into the sun, but from all angles. Regards Paul Hursey
  2. Hi Ben I fly PMDG 747-400 I will upgrade to the 8 at some stage. However you can't go past PMDG. I have been testing Microsoft 2020 alpha ver. The 747 in there has no comparison to PMDG aircraft. Half of the functions don't work, it is more eye candy than functional. What I am saying is if they put PMDG into 2020 it would be perfect. Next addon is Active sky for weather. It gives briefing detail, and flight time as well as weather info. Next is Chase plane for onboard camera set up, yoke or controller functionality. Next is GSX 2 for activating jetways, boarding and cargo handling realism. The biggy is navigraph charts, data manager and sim link (must have) I use PFPX and topcat for flight planning and thrust derates. However the new 8 uses the flightbag to get this info UTLive (ultimate Traffic Live) I use for populating gates and airspace with other aircraft. I also use WAMA (where are my aircraft) For assigning gates so when you arrive a gate, it has not been taken. Many of my gates have been modified to take a 747 with 2 jetways. So I need to have that specific gate free for arrival, WAMA will reserve them for me. And for ATC you can use PRO-ATC\X this is not everyones cup of tea, its not 100% real, but ok I have managed to run all this seamlessly, and get a fairly realistic overall effect. Hope this helps Paul
  3. Hi All I have updated my Prepar3d to 4.5.14.34698. However after doing this whilst flying PMDG 747-400, even when only increasing the Simulation rate up to x 2 the aircraft was acting erratically. And having trouble holding altitude, like it used to if I increased the rate to x 16. I used to be able to hold simulation rate comfortably at x 8. Now the keyboard command to increase the rate wont work at all. The command was always R + plus or Minus to increase or decrease the rate. I have gone into settings and re assigned the key, with no success. When I apply this key command in the cockpit, all that happens is I zoom forward or backwards from the windshield. I have never had trouble with sim rate until I did this upgrade. Anyone have any ideas on how to get my sim rate back again Regards Paul Hursey
  4. Hi all I suppose this is a dumb question for you guys. I currently have a fully licensed paid version of Prepar3D v4 Professional 4.5.14.34698, which I gather is the latest version of the 4.5 series. However everyone is installing Prepar3d 5.0. When I go to the Prepar3d download page there seems to be only the option to download Prepar3d 4.5. Will I be able to download Prepar3d 5.0 with my current licence, or do I have to re purchase Prepar3d 5.0 all over again. Or is the current Prepar3d 5.0, some sort of Beta version. If I have to re purchase, is there any difference between the academic license of $59.95 and the Professional license of $199.00 I only use this to fly my PMDG Queen of the skies 747 400 Regards Paul Hursey
  5. Hi All Simple question. What is the most realistic Airbus A380 software available, that runs through Prepar3d v4 I currently fly PMDG 747/400, I thought I would learn to fly the A380. To search on google is a nightmare. Please give manufacturer and name of software and access, if possible What is your opinion? Regards Paul Hursey
  6. Hi All I am using Prepar3d v4, and flying PDMG 747/400. As of late I have been experiencing a lot of anomalies with prepar3ds data base. I have heard on a few occasions that they have just used FSX old data base when they created the software. I have a feeling they are right, we all now how old that is. I tried to create a flight from Johannesburg to Cape town. According to Navigraph charts that is FOAR To FACT. So I open Prepar3d and attempt to go to FOAR Then I get the message not in data base. So I search and find it is called FAJS. So I start Prepar3d and go to FAJS active runway. So Far so good. I then open the FMC and type in FAJS for departure, and get "not in data base". I also typed in FOAR, and as expected, not in data base either. I open up the map from the overhead nav options to confirm that I am located at FAJS, Yes the map confirms it, I am at FAJS, but still not in data base. However when I go to ACARS, I have no trouble filling in the ICAO data. Also I attempted to fill in the destination ICAO code for Cape Town FACT, and that isn't in the data base either. San Diego Rwy 09 ILS frequency is wrong, also Dubai international, they are all different. So still no Joburg/Cape Town flight, as I cannot create a flight plan. Why doesn't Prepar3d just update there data base to match all the Navigraph Charts, and make everyone happy. I don't think they have made any attempt at all to do this. (the new FSX 2020 will give them a shake up) Anyone know of a work around when coming across these situations Regards Paul Hursey
  7. Hi all. I have just upgraded Prepar3d v4.4 to v4.5 Everything is ok except for chase plane. Chase plane loads up but it doesn't respond to the keyboard commands, or anything else. Is this a common fault with the prepar3d upgrade. Is there a solution? or are we waiting for a chase plane upgrade to solve the problem. Regards Paulh1
  8. Hi All I am using prepar3dv4 with PMDG 747-400 and Active Sky for P3Dv4, on windows 10 I believe I have all the setting correct, because they are the same as my pc setup, (this is about my install on a laptop). I have been through the FMC options on the aircraft. After starting all the software and using Active sky in realtime mode, and populating my FMC with the flight plan. I attempt to upload the weather data, and destination wind data and always get the FMC message Data Link No Comm. I dont get this on the PC. what am i doing wrong. Regards Paulh1
  9. Hi All I am running the Prepar3dv4 simulator with pmdg 747-400 and the qualitywings 787-9. Have no issues except for the replay after landing. The qualitywings replay is perfect, reverse thrusters are shown activating, and the speed brakes redeploy each time the replay is replayed. However the pmdg 747-400 has never shown reverse thrusters for years now, and the speed brakes don't redeploy, they just stay deployed for all replays there after. Is this just me, or is this standard for all simmers. If it is a bug can or will pmdg rectify this bug. I have only raised this since installing the 787, and I am wondering if one company can get it right, why cant the other. Regards Paul Hursey
  10. Hi I use ultimate traffic live and Pro/ATC-X. The first is for populated traffic and the second is for ATC, I am happy with both Regards Paul
  11. Hi All I realise that this aircraft has its own forum, however I am having huge issues logging in, so maybe someone can help me here. Yes I am using prepar3dv4 as my simulator, and have just installed the QualityWings 787 as well as my existing PMDG 747-400 When I use the 747, all my flight plans were created with PFPX and stored in the Prepar3d/pmdg/flight plans folder as .RTE files. I wish to use these flight plans with the new 787. So I copied these .RTE flight plans across to the Prepar3d/QualityWings/QW787/Flight plans folder. (I am led to believe that the 787 also uses RTE files rather that .PLN files. When entering data into the CDU. it recognizes the flight plans in the folder, and can find them by using the find flight plans option. Also when entering the flight plan manually into the company route lsk, it recognizes the flightplan. However when I go to the route data page. None of the waypoints for the flight plan has been infilled. This works fine on the 747 FMC. So what needs to be done to get the 787 to accept my current flight plans, and insert the waypoints into the CDU. I also have these flight plans in .PLN format, which I use for ProATC-X. Can anyone help. Regards Paul

    GSX

No matter what I do I cannot get the jetway at any gate to use door L1 instead of L2 I am using Prepar3dv4 with PMDG Queen Of the Skies 747-400 v3 ver Qantas ER I go into GSX Customize Aircraft Editor. Yes It is the correct aircraft and corrisponds to my current aircraft. I select the Pax1 door, and select the header Door with open close checks as FSX Door1 When I go into the editor the blue Z and green and red axis lines are over the correct door (L1) However when I use the jetway it always goes to L2. I am trying to position my nose wheel on the forward yellow line, then L1 will be in easy reach of the jetway. L2 is to far away, and the jetway has to split in half to reach it. After doing this edit I press Y which is supposed to close and save, yes it closes, but the jetway always goes to L2. Another issue I am having is editing the position of my aircraft on the approach line. In the editor I move the aircraft nose wheel and the orange stop circle back to the forward yellow line ending. I press y to save and close. However every time I reopen the simulator the aircraft is back to this default position of 2 meters forward of the end yellow line. The third problem I am having is The height of the jetway at the door, is about 2 feet below the top of the door (that is the jetway apron or hoarding that surrounds the door) So when the jetway is at the door, and the door is open you can still see inside the aircraft with about a 2 foot gap. How do I raise the jetway so it fully encloses the door. I have tried going into the aircraft editor, and raising lower horizontal line up 2 feet (this line is at the bottom of the door by default) However this seems to have no effect of where the jetway goes, or interacts with the door. Hope someone can help me with these 3 issues. Regards Paul

  14. Hi All Hi I have just installed update Prepar3dv4 4.3.29.25520 Just to check that I did the right thing! When I clicked on the install icon, it displayed a path to Programm 86/ Lockheed Martin/........ This is not my default sim folder it is C:\Prepar3Dv4 Did I do the correct thing and direct it to my default folder, or should I have let it install to the folder it had displayed? However I would of assumed it new where its own default folder was. It continued to install the update and was happy at the end. It just stated there would be graphic issues with the first startup, then they would be resolved. Unfortunately all my graphics are corrupted, both default scenery and Orbx scenery. I am getting corrupted scenery squares, some are night or black scenery squares, some are purple, blue all mottled incorrect scenery squares. How can this be corrected . Don't tell me I have to reinstall everything all over again. I tried reinstalling with a repair, no difference still corrupted. Also while I am here. When using Pro-ATC/X I used to have a text box that showed the voice instructions from ATC. Now since I installed the latest update, I cant find any options to enable the voice text box, s I can read the instructions as well as hear them. Regards Paul Hursey
  15. Hi Guys Any suggestions? Even though I have two graphics cards it will only allow me to use 1 1 or the other, not both. Whats the point to two graphics cards when you can only use one? I also use Orbx scencery. However in Orbx options all have been turned off except for major and minor roads. Software in use with the simulator 1. Active sky 2. GSX 3. Navigraph Charts desktop + Simlink 4. Chase Plane 5. PMDG Queen of the skies 747v3 6. Pro-ATC/X 7. Ultimate Traffic live 8. WAMA (where are my aircraft) So Bottom line guess what frame rate I am getting out of all of this? Answer Between 14 - 25 fps So As you can understand I am very dissappointed. A guy I know who builds computers looked at the system, and noted that when a game or simulation takes along time to load it is poorly written or programmed. Just like my graphics cards. Surely they would have allowed for multiple or upgrade hardware to run the sim. I guess my point is dont go out buying high end hardware. There is no point untill major changes are made. So as Ryan Batcund mentioned "Even though P3D is newer portions of the code date back to 2003-2006 from FSX. It still needs the fastest CPU". So even though prepar3dv4 is 64 bit, its still a dog. So if anyone has any ideas of improving frame rate, without degrading everything, I would like to hear about it. Regards Paul Hursey
