  1. Thanks again for help and passing on ur knowledge kevinau. Can now stop surfing the net trying to fix what aint fixable, lol. Again much appreciated. John
  2. Thanks for that kevinau, that will help. Is that not as accurate as the obs giving you a more visible check when the "D" bar centres?. I thought that the g1000 was more advanced. Maybe I'm missing something. Thanks again though for your help... John
  3. Can anyone help, I'm trying to learn how to do an approach into an airport with a vor off field, with earlier a/c I've flown in fsx it is a simple case of using 2 vor's and setting the obs on each to app & catch the radial on the approach plate using the second vor's obs. Now I have upgraded to the quest kodiak with the g1000, as far ado can see I can only use nav 1 with obs, nav2 has no obs select ability ?. How therefore would I use the nav2 to know when I've reached a selected radial. John.
  4. Can any one with some experience of fsx and multipanel able to explain to me why when using the multipanel (autopilot) with spad , Im not able to set the intersect angle to catch a radial from a vor, like you can if using the fsx truetrak system on the epic lt. when the multipanel through spad is turned off. Seems to me this £100 plus panel doesnt simulate the epic autopilot as well as I had hoped.
  5. Does anyone know where I can download a start-up checklist for the epic lt from lionheart.
  6. How does the saitek Multipanel work with add-on a/c, I fly the epic lt from lionhearts and the autopilot has different buttons?. Will I need to remap the keys on the saitek panel to match the keys on the epic?. Thanks... Johnboy
  7. Thanks for that superglide17
  8. Can anyone help me. Is it possible to have the reality xp wx500 radar add on working on a second monitor whilst flying & filling the screen for clarity. I'm considering buying this for my fsxexrerience. My system is as follows: Intel 2.6 ghz quad core processor 4 gb ram Nvidia 8800gt graphics card 640 gb hd
  9. Hi, can anyone tell me if the saitek multi panel autopilot is compatable with the epic truetrak autopilot system?. The buttons have different buttons, for instance, their is no trk button on the saitek multi panel. Is it possible to work all the systems on the truetrak system, via the saitek panel.
  10. Can anyone tell me where I can buy colour prints of a/c gauges. I am building my own cockpit and have so far purchased the multi saitek panel, and the radio panel, but cant afford to buy the six main fundemental gauges, alt, vsi, turn co-ordinator etc so would like to obtain/buy a glossy printout of these gauges to fill my home built cockpit up till Im able to save for the saitek gauges. I dont have a colour printer as this woulkd be the simpler option.
  11. My system :intel 2.66 ghzquad core processor4gb ramnvidia 8800gt graphics card640gb hdCan anyone advise me whether or not my system will easily cope with adding 2 more monitors to my existing fsx experience. Im thinking of adding a second video card to match my nvidia 8800gt card to give me ability to add a third monitor to have three views (front, and two side) views when flying fsx. Also does a video card have to match my existing one or would a cheaper card do the trick. Also any advice on what monitors to buy would be a great help. Am only using 1 monitor at present, a proview 17" lcd which has 8 ms, do I need to match the other monitors that also has 8ms.Thanks, John
  12. hi guys thanks for info, been away, yes am using a router but when using crossover cable obviously im dis-connecting ethernet cable, to connect crossover cable, therefore no internet, but not needing this at my level of using fsx. I only have 1 connector at back of desktop for cable, do some pc`s have 2 or more ?. I do know a little about networking and am always up for learning more, as I have been learning and implementing setting up a network drive between my desktop and laptop, so I could use plan-g whilst flying on desktop, which works fine.Am still not sure about this problem I want to solve, is it possible for me to fly with 2 laptops coupled to main PC ?, and how would this be done.looked up netgear hub that you mentioned, thanks for that brainstormer, does that work just like a mains adaptor turning 1 plug into many, and that does the same turning my one female ethernet cable connector inot 2 or 3 to enable me to use ethernet and 2 crossover cables all at the same time ?.Word Not Allowed you mentioned switches, am not familiar with switches, can you explain how that would work with me using a hub. Thanks again..Jk...
  13. Hi, can anyone tell me how Im able to connect 2 laptops to my main desktop pc running fsx. I have already successfully connected 1laptop to fsx on desktop with crossover which enables me to use plan-g on laptop, whilst flying on desktop, but I would like to now attach another laptop , but their is only 1 female connector to attach a crossover cable. Is there another way to do this?.
  14. Im off to the states and wondered if buying a saitek switch panel as well as all the other panels saitek sell, would work on my pc when I got back home to the u.k.?.
  15. im talking hardware not software, dont think u would get hardware free !!.
  16. I have bought the usual saitek add ons i.e. a yoke, throttle quadrant, rudder pedals, and does`nt seem to have caused my motherboard any problems. Im now thinking of starting to buy panels to add to my flight sim experience, like a multi panel and a switch panel to name a few, but im worried that these are going to put a strain on my pc, am I right to think this or are my worries un-founded.

  18. Thanks javfn. How much lines of code on average would be needed to run a digital pitch trim. Do certain gauges take their code from other a/c. The lines of text I was kindly given by fxsttcb is about 7 lines long and only 1 line has any kind of calculations, is this the code for the gauge im trying to enter. I would ask fxsttcb (dan), but feel ive maybe pickled his brain, and made a nuisance of myself. Am still nowhere nearer to getting a digital pitch trim gauge working with a fsx a/c despite all dans efforts to help me.
  19. Can anyone explain how gauges in fsx function. I am trying to insert a gauge into an fsx a/c but need to understand how fsx manipulates the gauge, for ex: How does the needle in a compass move, surely there is a piece of coding cleverly written for this gauge to function, where is this coding ?. I have been given a piece of coding for a pitch trim gauge but all I get is a window which is transparent enabling me to see outside the a/c through the bitmap area. I have tried to understand how a line in the panel.cfg i.e : gauge00=airbus_321!altimeter,x,x,x,x, actually works, . I`ve not been able to see where fsx goes to look for the piece of coding that actually enables this gauge to animate. Can anyone explain this to me. thanks .....johnboy
  20. Hey thanks Don, really appreciate you taking the time to help me. I am now begining to see what I was failing to see and do, so will spend a little time over weekend and hopefully will get to rock my world and be ever so happy. your a chum johnboy...

Only thing I can think of is I dont know where to put the line Gauge00=TrimGauges!DigElevTrim, 700,350,66,32(what im putting in ?) havent a clue, and all the [window=00], [window-01] etc, what do they mean, and do I need to add a similiar line. Does the gauge00=TrimGauges!DigElevTrim, 700,350,66,32 line point fsx to the new folder "TrimGauges" you told me to add with DTI_Bkgnd.bmp file and DigElevTrim.xml file ?. When you say "add it" to panel.cfg I assume you mean the Gaugexx line. Reason fore me choosing 700,350 for position is the tail number on the main panel in the epic lt is at 788,350 and to the left of it there is just the black instrumental console which is black, I assume the bmp file black box 66,32 will show over this, or is this why im not seeing the gauge ?. As you can see my understanding of all this is not too good, and dont really have a clue?. Hope you can shred some light , Johnboy
  22. Hi can anyone explain the following to me in simple terms ?, as I have tried to follow these instructions from another member, but cannot get it to work. Have tried contacting the author of this thread, but assume they must be away as have not been online for a couple of days. "This is just a simple one. Whole degrees and tenths. Only the digits show, the rest is transparent.Change "Orange" to whatever color you want, and "Quartz" to your font choice, noting that not all Windows fonts are available. Check the sims "Fonts" folder.Make a Black(0,0,0) bitmap 66x32, name it DTI_bkgnd.bmp.Copy all the code into notepad, save it with whatever name you want .xml as Encoding: UTF-8 in a named folder(my gauges) then put it in your panel.cfg"<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <Gauge Name="Digital Trim Indicator" Version="1.0"> <Image Name="DTI_Bkgnd.bmp" <Transparent>Yes</Transparent> </Image> <Element> <Visible>(A:CIRCUIT GENERAL PANEL ON, bool)</Visible> <Position X="0" Y="0" /> <Text X="66" Y="32" Bright="Yes" Length="4" Font="Quartz" Color="Orange" Adjust="Center" VerticalAdjust="Center" Multiline="No" Fixed="no"> <String>%((A:Elevator Trim Position,degrees))%!2.1f!</String> </Text> </Element> </Gauge>
  23. thanks for that fxsttcb, that looks promising. Im new to this making gauges and so dont know how to set up a black bitmap as you suggest, can you help me with that as well, that would be fantastic, regards Johnboy
  24. Could anyone tell me how I can take the EICAS Panel from the lear45 in fsx and use it as (preferably) a pop up window, i.e. shift + (9) key for example, in my epic dynasty a/c panel. I redceived a thread from tail dragger driver which explained how to do this with the pfd in the bombardier, but made a mistake and wish to use the EICAS gauge instead, and am not able to relate the two together, as the cfg file for the lear45 is different and confuses me.
  25. can anyone let me have a simple digital pitch trim gauge to use with my epic dynasty. Just placing the mouse on the trim wheel on the panel does not help as the cursor box goes away after a few seconds, not helping with setting up the configerations for landing.
