  1. I had a similar problem where FSUIPC was the cause.

There should be a checkbox called "Allow changes to FS weather" in the FSUIPC options. I found that when this is turned off, the problems with rain/snow would be resolved. No FSUIPC wind smoothing is available with this option de-selected, however.

Out of interest, do you use the DWC setting in AS2012?

  2. Jeradwtf,

Just of out interest (having had my own problems with those lights...), are you running FSX with Acceleration or SP2?

I went back to SP2 from Accl. about 4 months ago and lighting problems have all gone.

If you want to delete the files for KCLT (to save disk space) you can find a "Uninstall KCLT.exe" file in your FSX root directory - that should do the job...

    Thanks.

  3. In agreement with all above:

Yeah, sorry to be blunt, but 200GBP for a FSX PC as you describe is completely unrealistic.

To be honest you may as well stick with what you have for the moment, even if you don't move to FSX yet. Don't forget that systems are getting ever more powerful, and cost can only reduce as technology progresses. Going forward, look to build up a much more substantial cash fund with which you will be able to properly spec. the system you obviously want.

    Best of luck :)

  4. As representations of the airports, both are reasonable sceneries even if (IMO) slightly overpriced. A more reasonable price will be seen if puchasing Just Flight's: World Airports Series boxes. If you're running FSX Acceleration, their runway/papi lights are not compatible (SP2 is fine).

As for fully correct taxiway layout, all I can say is that it was probably correct at the time of release. If you decide to get KATL, I have removed several errors from the scenery and added mipmaps to most of the textures (which makes it look infinitely better!). I would be happy to pass this on to you if you'd like.

Also you might want to check various reviews for the products :)

  5. Can you confirm that you have the Feb 2008 Service Pack installed? (http://www.megascenery.com/patches.htm)

I use quite a bit of MegaSceneryX and MegaSceneryEarth, and have definitely come accross the problem before (but can't remember how I fixed it!).

I suggest you try changing the postition of Hawaii in the Scenery Library against other addon scenery installed (don't move below any FSX default entries though).

If you can't figure it out, drop the guys at PC Aviator an email detailing the problems - in my experience they are usually pretty good with customer service.

    Best of luck :)

  6. Hello !During this holiday season, the Smoking Hole Avition Company will be deviating from our usual route - providing several festive events to all interested flyers - with sessions including high standard ATC services. Sessions are normally hosted under the name of ATCMagic, in the Free Flight lobby on Gamespy.- Saturday 17th December 2011 at 1930Z - Central UK NavExTomorrow we have the debut of our Central UK NavEx. We aim these navigation exercises at intermediate/high level flyers who can competantly fly to/from NDBs and VORs, and calculate ETE. We host a different NavEx every few weeks, asking users to visit our website (navex.webs.com) to print preprepared session route charts and information. We also provide a time calculations spread sheet to assist flight planning from an assigned departure time. The aim of a NavEx is to use the old grey matter to reach the route destination as close as possible to your estimated time. ATC is provided at departure and for enroute position reports. Good luck!- Tuesday 20th December 2011 at 1930Z - Santa SARNext Tuesday brings another navigation event aimed at the higher level flyer. This time, we're asking you to find Santa - the victim of an unfortunate forced landing. Using his filed flight plan, nearby navigation aids and radar history, various vague positions are discovered which provide a more accurate location of his downed aircraft. ATC will be active for both departure and centre/enroute positions. Can you find Santa?More details available on the website nearer the time.- Wednesday 21st December 2011 at 2000Z - VFR RouteFor next Wednesday, we're planning a relaxing VFR route. The route will make full use of VOR and NDB equipment, but GPS routings are also available. Aircraft types suggested range between a medium sized single engine prop (C152) and a twin turboprop (JS41). This one isn't for the jet junkies, but if you like low and slow, with beautiful sunsets and dazzling scenery, this might just make your week! Again more details will be available on the website next week...- Friday 23rd December 2011 at 1930Z - AlpineMagicA tradition stemming right back to the 1990s, and the beginning of the Smoking Hole Aviation Company, Alpine Magic allows for a relaxed, yet super fun and highly enjoyable group flight around the European Alps. This time we're taking the 737, promising challenging weather and several difficult approaches as we tour the alps! AlpineMagic is a completely ATC-free environment, where we ask only that you behave sensibly within the session. Whatever your experience, this last session of 2011 is for everyone! Enjoy! After the New Year, we hope to resume our popular ATC style sessions on Wednesdays and Fridays, reserving Saturdays where we can for more interesting and themed events. As ever we will be available on Teamspeak 3: 78.129.174.100:9988Whatever you do this festive season, we wish you a happy and safe holiday. From all at the Smoking Hole Aviation Company.

  7. Example STARs:The MES3E into ENGM involves tracking radial 161 outbound from the Mesnali VOR until reaching 60DME, then flying direct to the Bergerud NDB.The MES4F can be done the same way by tracking the 164 radial outbound from Mensnali to 37DME, then expect vectors.SIDs are a little more complex, but essentially its all on these charts. For the TOMB4A, fly HDG 016 until at 1200ft, then fly HDG 349 until reaching 6DME from Gardermoen VOR. Then begin a right turn to track 054 until reaching radial 032 from the Gardermoen at 14.8DME. Then track 004, to intercept the 016 degree radial at 32.7 DME, and the 007 radial at 109.7DME.The only problems that you might encounter doing this are holds on a fix, which can be overcome but are beyond the scope of this post. You'll notice that it isn't very hard as long as you have the chart with you. I can see it easily pushing the work load up as you climb away, accelerate to 250kts, tune a VOR and set course whilst complying with altitude restrictions, maybe cleaning up the gear/flaps and having to talk to ATC.But it is possible - so have fun!

  8. I mainly fly in the UK, so: EGCC (Manchester) is staffed (TWR, GND, APP) most evenings and they do a great job! Traffic levels are generally pretty good up there too. Also, still in the UK, EGKK (Gatwick) almost always has several positions filled, the controllers also seem very efficient and good at what they do, and has IMO been the busiest UK airport of recent months. Thanks

  9. It was in the Introduction.pdf:

"Our goal is to allow hardware manufacturers to create their own drivers so that the hardware can be made compatible with our software, however so with the PMDG 737NGX we are going to be releasing to them an SDK that will allow hardware manufacturers to independently create drivers to ensure the highest degree of compatability." "The only restriction that we place on hardware developers is that these drivers must be provided at no cost to their customers." "...it will be made available a short time later to interested, known hardware developers!"
Whilst I really love the idea that the SDK will be released to all smile.png, the wording of the above seems to point to what I was saying.Apologies if I've misinterpreted it.

  10. Having spent the last 30 minutes flying around Manhattan X, I'd like to start with a huge THANK YOU to the team for this amazing work of art! Three years has finally paid off and the result really is quite magical! Back on topic... I've come across a few users now, who like myself, have external hardware which at this stage is not compatible with the NGX. I'd like to ask what kind of release timescale we are looking at with the SDK, alongside the other variant releases. Having an NG home cockpit, the NGX is pretty much useless to me without these hardware drivers, at least from Saitek and GoFlight... I understand that the SDK will be available to hardware developers only, and that they must distribute drivers FOC. Obviously this immeadiately rules out any idea for interfacing an overhead panel, for example. Your thoughts on the subject would be appreciated.

  11. Hi,What exactly is not working?Audio environment works in exactly the same way as default sounds. The only way it differs is the way in which AI traffic start-up sounds are handled - when installed, AEModule.dll is the module responsible for these sounds. If AEModule.dll is not working, the only thing that will not be heard is AI start-up sounds. All other sounds should work as installed, unless some files have been deleted. Can you confirm default sounds are working okay?Kind Regards
