There is really nothing better than BlackBox's Airbus series at the moment. I don't own one but judging from reviews and Youtube videos the quality isn't nearly as good as Aerosoft A320. It's probably better to wait for Aerosoft A330.

Hmmmm..
I saved the situation where the spd bugs did not show. I took off anyways, and during the flight I peaked at the forum. Switch was not on auto. Set it on auto, completed the flight.
Loaded the "no spd bugs" situation. Behold, spd bugs showing. %&%*%???
That was ... interesting. lol
If the "speed reference selector" can be used to manually set the v-speeds. For example you can rotate the outer knob to V1 and select the desired speed using the inner knob. Same goes for Vr, V2, etc. Only when it's set to AUTO, the v-speeds from the FMC are displayed on PFD.
For more info you can check FCOM v2, page 593.

I'd say PMDG NGX. Personally I think it's more fun than 777 because you can fly to many interesting airports with a 737. For example Innsbruck, Kathmandu, Paro, and Corfu, etc. You simply can't fly a 777 into some of these airports.
-
Did you set the speed reference knob to AUTO? It's next to the autobrake selector.
-
Are you sure you selected the correct arrival runway in PFPX? I am using an older version of navData but from what I can see BASET3 arrival is only available for rwy 06/07. This might explain the strange route you saw.
-
Sounds like you didn't program the FMC correctly. Can you post some screenshots and what you did in each step? That would be helpful.

It appears to be due to wuaserv.dll (to do with Windows Update) running from that particular svchost.exe. After several hours of searching and trying a million things to fix the issue (Windows update used to work fine, now it hangs when checking and has this svchost.exe/wuaserv.dll CPU usage problem), good luck to anyone trying to fix it. Temporary solution is to disable wuauserv apparently - but then, no updates!
Maybe just disable "automatically check for updates" and do it manually every a few month.
-
Do you only experience this issue with FSX? Or other programs loads slowly as well? I had similar issues a few days ago, after running Windows update. Tried to check the hard disk for errors then it became fine.
-
Alright, good luck to you.

Well, first things first, Having searched in explorer, I have approx. 60+ panels to chose from to edit. However, I clearly chose the correct file for the 777, as the option under 'Views' - 'Instrument Panel' in the P3D menu, showed the newly integrated 'Custom Panel'. On selection, I had one small black window appear, but nothing else. I did this with and without wide screen selected - results the same. I switched the cfg file back as it was, checked again, and the 'Custom Panel' no longer appeared, so I'm convinced that it was the correct .cfg file! I tried this also with the 737 and there was no selection possible for a 'Custom Panel', so perhaps I chose the wrong .cfg file to edit.
I also tried once more, the integrated PMDG Set Up in the FMC panel, to save the panel state, named it 'custom', exited and reinstated P3D, loaded the aircraft, chose 'Custom' panel state under PMDG options, and lo and behold - nothing! Arghh...!
Forgot to say that it won't work for the 777 as the name of the gauges are different for each aircraft. For example I used PMDG_737NGX!DU for gauge00.
As for the file to edit, choose SimObjects\Airplanes\PMDG 737-800NGX\panel\panel.cfg. There aren't many to choose from, because all other variants use the cfg from the -800. (Not sure about the -600/700 though, as I don't have them.)
If it still doesn't work, maybe it's because PMDG changed the name of the gauges or the cfg works differently in P3D. As I only have FSX installed I don't really know what went wrong.

Had some time to give a try. This this what I end up with:
It's quite easy. Under [Window Titles] add this line:
window21=Custom Panel
After the [Window20] section add these lines:
[Window21]BACKGROUND_COLOR=0,0,0size_mm=2031,636window_size = 0.945,0.589 //0.28906, 0.46250position=6visible=0ident=15000zorder=95gauge00=PMDG_737NGX!DU, 0, 0, 677, 636, 1 LEFT_OUTBD #11 ZOOMgauge01=PMDG_737NGX!DU, 677, 0, 677, 636, 1 LEFT_INBD #12 ZOOMgauge02=PMDG_737NGX!DU, 1354, 0, 677, 636, 1 UPPER #13 ZOOMThen in FSX menu, click Views -> Instrument Panel -> Custom Panel, it should show up. -
Just a quick question Jetstrem; is there a link that you're aware of where I can get some help configuring a 2D panel in panel.cfg?
Here is the official documentation: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc526956.aspx
It would be easier to just take a look at the panel.cfg of default aircraft (e.g. 737-800). It shouldn't be difficult.
Also don't forget to backup the .cfg before modifying it.
-
You can create your own 2D panel in panel.cfg. This way you can show/hide the panel by pressing Shift + 1, Shift +2, etc. I've only tried that before with the Aerosoft Airbus, but I believe it's possible for the PMDG as well.
If you need I can try to create one for the NGX.

I did' not changed TRANS ALT for Schiphol EHAM from EBBR 4500' to EHAM 3000'
IMO it would be better to change the TA to 3000 ft. This way in a go-around you won't forget to set to STD once passing the transition altitude.

Amazing, love the beautiful lights behind that Delta.

I am wondering whether there are specific requirements that need to be met when planning a random route? After some web searches, I can only find a few restrictions for non-GNSS equipped aircrafts. Is there any general rule I need to worry about, when flying in a airliner like 777?

Evening,
I have the latest AIRAC installed on the B777 PMDG, for example ZSPD charts available via website being Google is dated 2013 and I cannot find any that is dated 2015 onwards without having to pay a full subscription fee.
That was interesting, because China's eAIP has already been available online for like a year. Then I went to check the website, and it looks like now a subscription is required. FYI, the last cycle is still available (Dec 2015 version):

I've never had an anti-virus program installed permanently on my computer systems since August 1991. I have over the years used an anti-virus program to scan my system in the event I think I have been hit by a virus but the programs have never ever identified a virus.
Lol 1991, I wasn't even born at that time. It's great to know I am not the only one who hate AV programs. I totally agree that backup > anti-virus, because if anything get broken it's easy to recover.
-
Yeah you may be right, but don't worry, my OS and all files are routinely backed up to an external HD. Reinstalling FSX is not fun at all.Just because it hasn't happened to you yet doesn't mean that it won't soon. The odds are definitely stacked against you, particularly with a broadband/always on connection.
If some day the amount of false positives is dramatically reduced, I'd definitely use AV again. But for now it seems that I will switch to a newer OS before the current one get messed up by malware.
-
My current OS has been without ANY AV program (not even MS Security Essentials) for around 5 years and I am not having any problem. On a personal computer, I don't see the point of AV program other than annoying you with all the false alarms and deleting harmless files for no reason.
I mean, you have to do something to get the system infected. Either opening some exe file or place a dll in some folder, or clicking on something unsafe. Just don't download/open suspicious files, and you will be fine. Actually, the last time my system got infected I had AV installed.

Start your FSX, on the left hand side there is a "Learning center". There are some good tutorials on the basics of flying in if you click "Lessons" tab (written by real world flight instructor).
-
(3) There is already service based failure.
(7) That would cause big performance hit, which is why almost no developer does this effect.
(8) In FSX it's already more difficult to brake on wet runway.
(9) Go to Takeoff page 2 in FMC. It's there already.
-
Seriously? In the sim or real life? V1 is predicated on having the available runway distance available to conduct and ACCEL-STOP. Anything before that and you may not be able to accelerate enough to properly clear the required obstacles at the end of the runway.
You may prefer continuing the takeoff to making a high speed RTO, if it's only an pack failure.

Adjust your seat further back, and zoom out to about 0.6.
Shall we CAT 3 today ?...

That's very interesting. I didn't know an aircraft overflying the localizer can cause such signal deviation.
