  1. So I had a double check. All power sources are OFF. I have the GPU still plugged in, but switched off (in AVAIL state). When I have this, NAV (and cabin) lights are still on. As soon as I disconnect the GPU completely, nav lights (and cabin) are off.

No other lights / displays are showing. Brake pressure is 0.

    Hope this helps

  2. Is the brake pressure gauge showing pressure?

Your aircraft may be fitted with a Towing Bus. This powers the nav lights, brake pressure gauge, allows you to park the brakes (if there is residual hydraulic pressure) and illuminates a few lights here and there. The Standby Power Switch must be OFF.

    Cheers

    John H Watson

I'll check when I get back on the ground in a few hours. Thanks for the advice

  3. Firstly, great job by the team PMDG. It's a beauty to fly and probably one of the finest aircraft created for Flight Sim. I really love the new ground physics model.

I noted a few things that I couldn't find "quirks" for in the manual. Not sure if they're bugs or how the real aircraft handles things. There's also a few other things too:

    - The EULA on the Prepar3d version reads that "It can only be used for FSX" on a few lines

    - There's a couple of references to the ol' 777 in the tutorial guide. I'm happy to point them out in more detail if you'd like?

    - I'm struggling to reset the baro. I can switch between Baro and Radios and adjust the values just fine. However, when I click reset, nothing happens. Not sure if this is how-is and I'm doing something wrong or a small bug.

    - The nav lights stay on when I've turned the aircraft into a complete cold and dark state (no power running through at all, battery standby off etc).

Just a couple of things I've noticed.

Great aircraft and a pleasure to fly. I'll keep my eyes peeled for anything else.

    Thanks

  4. Option that's selectable through the CDU. You'll see associated changes on the performance pages, and in other spots, too.

    Thanks Kyle.

Honestly, that must be a pretty big thing in flight sim development. To be able to change all of that with a click of a button real time is incredible.

  5. Just wanted to point out there's a ANOTHER scam appearing that says you are able to download and test an Open Beta of the Quality Wings 787.

    http://qualitywing.com/787-open-beta/

DO NOT OPEN THIS LINK AND GET EXCITED! IT IS A SCAM.

Can Avsim please make it clear on their forum announcement section upfront and please can this be shared amongst yourselves.

  6. I wrote a review on it here:

    http://www.iflysimx.com/topic/970-dreamfactory-studio-rome-fiumicino-airport-lirf-review/

This is the summary I gave it:

    1/5  |  Publisher: SimMarket |  Developer: DreamFactory Studio |  Price: 20.50EUR

Despite some nice looking texture work, the poor performance make the airport almost un-flyable. The massive drop in frame rate and the incompatibility make it a really hard recommendation. Despite being the only option to fly into Rome Fiumicino, DreamFactory Studio have really done a disservice to the community. An unfinished and poor performing product - an update is really the only thing that can salvage it.

+ Good looking models surround the airport.

+ Some areas have some nice texture work.

    - Massive performance issues make the airport almost unflyable.

    - Incompatibility with FTX products, no manual and a broken options menu.

  7. Yeah me too, this is the thing that sucks about programming. You fix one thing and break other things.

Did you try it without using a panel state? I didnt have time to check if it was a problem with the panel state or not.

I actually did a full manual uninstall of the SP and the base pack as I was having some strange frame rate and texturing issues as well. Upon doing that, clearing everything out of FSX and reinstalling, I have no problems with it.

Maybe it is something to do with panel states but I don't remember having anything in there before hand. May be worth giving it a shot.

  8. I noticed this was broke during SP1, but accordingly fixed in SP1B. However, whenever I try and put a manual fuel total in the PERF page during re-fueling, the total manual fuel reads as "0.0kg".

Pretty sure I'm inputting the information correctly.

Is it or me or is anyone else having this problem?

  9. I really have no issues with VAS at all with the aircraft. I managed to do LGW-ANU-PUJ without resetting, all on Vatsim. I then switch off the sim, re-booted (left the panel state as previous flight) and continued back to LGW via ANU again. I have ORBX Global + Vector and openLC, as well as UK2000 LGW and various add ons for the Caribbean.

Just finished a flight from LGW-TPA with all of the above add-ons and still no issue.

I have pretty decent settings, but I just remember to turn off what I don't use.

  10. I upgraded from the LPPT box (v1.x) - no issues for me. Any terrain/elevation issues maybe (FTX Vector installed/mesh products installed?)

    Can you provide screenshots?

I have FTX Global installed, but I got rid of it during some test, but I still see some strange spikes. Below is what I posted over at Aerosoft. I appreciate some of the screenshots of the GPU load aren't clear, but I'm pretty confident it's an issue with LPPT as I don't see if at other airports.

EDIT: As I type this, I'm preforming a complete reinstall of FSX to see if there's an underlying issue.

Thanks for the advice, but nothing seems to be working.

I tried a new CFG, changing my AA settings with Nvidia Inspector and also lowered my FSX settings - nothing seems to be fixing these 'spikes'.

After looking at GPU-Z and also Window's Task Manager, I'm noticing spikes on my system when I have certain areas within my FSX window view.

This was taken in the default trike, at the Threshold of RWY03. Below is shots of me panning to the left and to the right (without moving). I am at the default zoom level. Bear in mind I use ezdok.

Although I have my frames set to unlimited, I don't usual and wanted to demonstrate the massive drop in frames. Above, I have 100fps.

    lppttest_02.jpg

    lppttest_02.jpg

As you can see, nearly a 70-75% reduction in frames, down to 25-30.

After a few seconds, the system catches up and the frames return to normal.

Some more screenshots of this happening.

    lppttest_06.jpg

    lppttest_07.jpg

Here I tried setting the target frames to 35 to see if it would make it more stable. In some ways the frames were more consistant, but the spikes kept happening.

    lppttest_08.jpg

    lppttest_11.jpg

Whenever I do pan, my GPU load ROCKETS to 99% usage, which is what I think is bottlenecking my system.

    lppttest_12.jpg

You can see here some very inconsistant CPU activity. It keeps going up and down during panning around the airport. I don't get this at any other airport.
