  1. It's been down for me since 0600hrs, PDT Is this where the survivors are gathering? Roger
  2. Thanks @mgchristy! Power outage, eh? Perhaps Austin is diverting power for one of his pet projects... R
  3. @Janov: Knowing you're still alive and well brings me great comfort... Sooner or later they'll get it sorted out. In the meantime I realize how dependent I am on the site. OK, I admit it, I'm an X-Plane junkie. Be well and see you in the forums. Roger
  4. It's been down since last night. Any clues? Roger
  5. Definition of a helicopter; ten thousand moving parts that all want to kill you. The real challenge is to get all those moving parts to do what you want them to. Fixed wing aircraft flight is linear like a bicycle riding on rails. As long as you have sufficient forward airspeed, an empennage, wings, control surfaces, and a counter weight in the front it will “fly”. A helicopter is like riding a unicycle, on cobblestones, while juggling. In effect you “fly” an airplane but you “dance” a helicopter. MS 2004, FSX, and P3D all suffer from linear flight design structure. To ask a straight line to act like a pretzel in this environment is a difficult, but not impossible task, considering all the variables. X-Plane has done an admirable job of pushing the envelope and the hope was that MS would take up the mantle and improve on helicopter flight dynamics. We'll see... A flight simulator without helicopters is like ordering a BLT sandwich and getting two slices of bread with a tomato. Where's the bacon? OK, now I'm hungry, does anyone else want a BLT (with extra Bacon)? Respectfully, Roger
  6. Have you checked out their forum lately? https://forums.x-pilot.com/forums/forum/230-torquesimafm/ They have been very responsive and move quickly to adapt to the ever changing environment. Nothing but praise for Coop, Cameron, & NoJoe. And, as Ryan said, this is almost too much airplane. You only need about a third of the resources available, the rest is gravy. Needless to say, I highly recommend the aircraft. Roger
  7. Computer keeping you up at night? Won't go to sleep? Maybe it's time to try Microsoft Zzzzz, the new App guaranteed to put you into powered down peaceful slumber. OK, now that I've got your attention how about the real solution: How to enable and disable fast startup on Windows 10. Right-click the Start button. Click Search . Type Control Panel and hit Enter on your keyboard. Click Power Options . Click Choose what the power buttons do . Click Change settings that are currently unavailable . Click Turn on fast startup (recommended) so that the check mark disappears. Click Save changes. I embarrassed to say I don't recall exactly when all this started but with two Beta Flight Sims and Windows 10 Beta 2004 it just became part of the mix. I just figured it would all settle out. Once I realized it wasn't going to heal on it's own it became a real annoyance especially since I'm an I/T Professional and do this for a living. So, I dug like a terrier going after a subterranean rodent tracing down every possible solution, and some you haven't even heard about. Nada. I'm a systems guy that looks at structure and architecture, not Features. Light bulb moment... Fast Startup was the culprit. With the simple tick of a checkbox I accomplished what I had invested many hours of fruitless toil had not. Sometime I think I must be two people because no one person could be this dumb. Sleep well America, Microsoft is solving all the worlds problems and if you file your bug report today we'll be sure to get right on it just after the next release. Roger
  8. Efrain; The easy solution: Don't uninstall v4.5 yet. Create a new folder on your drive, rename it P3D v5, and install v5 to this folder. From your specs you indicate a 2TB drive so you should have room to keep your old v4.5 and have a new separate v5 file folder. The benefit of having both is twofold; first, you have a stable backup in case v5 doesn't play nice with you and, when you start repopulating v5 it's easier to get the moveable items from A to B. Once you've cannibalized v4.5 and uninstalled it you will regain the disk space As always, I also recommend you peruse the forums since there are numerous postings on this topic and I am only one voice. Just remember; 80% of what you think will happen, won't. The other 20% will be outside of your control. Sit back, relax and enjoy the ride... Roger
  9. Good to hear Efrain; pass on the knowledge to everyone... regis9/Dave; You've got the concept spot on. To drill down a little deeper the program is a standard MS Troubleshooting App that scans your registry for every entry pertaining to that specific software and deletes it. Ergo, if it's not in the registry it does not exist on the computer. No remnants, muss , or fuss to clean up later. A genuine time and trouble savings. Who says MS never turns out any good software... In my experience, as long as the software is showing in "Programs and Features" it will cleanly remove it from your rig. So, anybody who's got that annoying orphan or missing .msi file issues this is the solution. Keep the blue side up and the greasy side down. Roger
  10. Greetings Efrain; Is the software still showing in programs/features? If so, you can use the MS Software Install/Removal tool: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17588/windows-fix-problems-that-block-programs-being-installed-or-removed . It checks the registry for all program related entries and will remove any programs that are listed as installed in Control Panel/Programs & Features. As an IT Professional I keep this one in my tool box (Flash Drive) and use it often. It's simple to use and is a better alternative to doing a time consuming manual registry entry removal. Good Luck And Good Hunting... Roger
  11. Downloaded, in the can, ready to install. Isn't this when I start asking when V6.0 will be available? Keep the blue side up and the greasy side down. Enjoy! Roger
  12. Ditto on freeware 2018 FSX BLUE ANGELS F/A-18C HORNET. It rivals the payware Superbug F/A-18E Super Hornet. You can download it at http://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php?PHPSESSID=171t93t3djtk2304pt90944a22&topic=16514.0. Enjoy! Roger
  13. You Betcha; https://www.fsglider.de/p_e.htm Don't forget to turn on Thermal Visualization in P3D Options/Weather so you can readily see the available updrafts. Cordially, Roger Halunen
  14. Do you have NVIDIA Inspector installed? NVIDIA Driver V411.70 does not play well with NVIDIA Inspector V2.1.3.10.
  15. Will upgrading V4.1 to V4.2 Content overwrite everything in my Simobjects folder when I uninstall/reinstall? Will I have to reinstall all my A/C? Should I copy Simobjects & Gauges as backup and copy over to new version? Lions, Tigers and Bears, oh my... Cordially, Roger Halunen
