  1. Faisalabad has a runway pairing of 03/21, so if the wind direction is roughly North, 03 will be favored for operations, while 21 will be active when wind is coming roughly from the South. (That is because this way aircraft require less power to take off, as the head wind component will contribute to the lift created by the wings.)

Since you say it has only one flight per day, wind direction is the only thing to determine that. Either look at the METAR, as has been suggested earlier, use flags etc. as a reference, which might be easier if you live close enough to the airport.

    Best regards,

  2. That would indicate that you're coming from the "wrong direction", i.e. the active runways are in the opposite direction of where you're coming from. Could that be? In that case, the solution would be to adjust the wind at PHNL, so that you encounter a headwind on your desired straight on approach.

  3. You can actually set any locatio to your default location, if that's what you're interested in. Just save a flight that you want to make your default flight. When you want to load the flight, there should be an option to "Make this the default flight". Ticking this will make whatever position you saved your default position. Make sure you don't use any "sophisticated" addon aircraft as your default plane, though, some of them don't like that at all.

Dusty IS in fact a P-51 Mustang

Are you sure about that? From the looks, I'd have guessed it's a C188, and tbh the name "Crophopper" indicates it might have been inspired by a cropduster plane. (Besides, according to Wikipeida, he was actually inspired by an Air Tractor AT-502)

But of course, the P-51 would be a nice free option.

  5. I apologize for going a little off-topic, but I wanted to pass on a friendly reminder that AVSIM's signature rules have changed. It is no longer allowed to have your system specs in your signature; please use the tabs provided in your profile instead. For the full set of rules, please follow this link: http://forum.avsim.net/page/AVSIM%20Pages/sig.html

    Thank you for your cooperation.

  7. You can't really do anything against the vehicles using taxiways, except for disabling airport vehicles via the traffic settings. They're just coded to use taxiways instead of the actual roads.

I'm not sure about the trees etc., it might be that some other AFCAD (perhaps from an AI addon or another scenery) interferes, but this is really just a wild guess.

    Best regards,

  8. FSX SP2 is the up-to-date version (if one can call something that's 8 years old "up to date"). It's actually the "normal" FSX plus the Service Pack 2 installed, which is freely available from the AVSIM library.

Deluxe is a variation of the standard FSX release, one of its main features is the introduction of the G1000 glass cockpit.

Acceleration is an expansion pack that also installs SP2. It comes with new aircraft, new misions and some new key assignments. Also, IIRC it introduced the DX10 Previw (but that might as well have been SP2, I don't recall)

And then there's also FSX Gold, which is basically FSX Deluxe plus the Acceleration expansion in one box.

Do all of you think DD' KLGA is same as Sunskyjet's KPHL scenery in terms of memory intensive or is DD KLGA more memory intensive than Sunskyjet KPHL?

I obviously cannot tspeak for everyone, but my two cents:

KPHL is a single airport in a not so heavy area, whereas KLGA is located close to both downtown New York, whcih is performance-hungry already, and also very clos to at least two other major airports, KJFK and KEWR, which may cause severe trouble when you have traffic enabled. Plus LGA isn't exactly a smal airport either.

But you can still try the NY bundle demo (if that exists), that way you can check, how your system reacts to the even higher load of all the NY area airports, and you can base your decision on whether to buy or not to buy KLGA on that preformance.

    Best regards,

  10. Attachment as in "picture": You'll need to use an external hosting site, such as dropbox or tinypic, where you upload your pictures. Those sites then provide links (often in a convenient forum code that allows to embed the picture in teh post directly rather than linking it to an external site).

Attachment as in "any file format": Below the bottom right corner of the "Reply to this topic" box, just right to the Post button, you have a button labelled "More Reply Options". Clicking that button you'll find a button labelled "Attach File", and by clicking it you can browse to a file and upload this. THere may be a limit on the file weight, though.

    Hope this helps.

    Best regards,

I am having the same problem with every mission, whenever I load it up it puts me in the default ultralight at a random airport. Any suggestions?

Have you (re-)moved your Simobjects/Airplanes folder, or the reference line in the FSX.cfg?

What aircraft does actually load when you neglect the warning message and start the mission anyway?

  12. I enjoy GA flying without any AP, even in solid IMC I try to hand-fly approaches as good as I can, and I wouldn't enjoy it half as much with the AP on. However, when I fly airliners, I do quite enjoy the automation, but also only to a certain extent: I often fly manually until I pass 10,000ft, then let the AP do its (my?) job. Since I often have problems lining up the larger aircraft (which I simply don't take the time to fly), I let the autopilot fly that part of the approach for me, but as soon as I am aligned, I take over control again. Doesn't contribute to my landing skills, though B)

I can understand those people making videos on AP, though. If they want to film from an external or PAX point of view, the AP is convenient, plus the AP can compensate for lacking skills, and perhaps the best all: You can still impress people who don't look too closely. I for one have never recognized this before.

  13. I think that it doesn't really matter whether there are these unofficial forums or not, those people would ask for support for pirated products in other more general forums as well, if AVSIM didn't have the unofficial support forums. The main purpose of these unofficial support forums is simply to keep things tidy and gather as much information on an addon as possible in one place.

If these places did not exist, we would have the same questions on the products (priated or not) in the general forum sections (e.g. FS9, FSX, XPlane), where they would be buried pretty quickly, and for others it would be harder to retrieve the info lateron. Besides, if there is the suspicion that someone is pirating (and many people actually admit that bluntly anyway, even in the official forums), immediate actions are taken. Also, if you feel like someone is a pirate, hit the report button and tell us your reasons to believe that!

Note: The above is my personal opinion only!

This is an issue between aerosoft scenery and woai

noone ever doubted that. The way the lighting is implemented in some (most) Aerosoft sceneries causes this issue with models that aren't FSX-native, such as the WOAI models. The solution that normally helps is switching off gound shadows. Since that obviously doesn't fix it for you, I'd suggest you ask for advice over at the Aerosoft forum, as they are more likely to have a solution for you.

Besides, could it be that you don't have too many packages that fly around Greece?
