Weather at small airports work round
kiwi55 replied to kiwi55's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumHi Damian,Have been using the new beta for a week now and what a difference. Now we have reasonable winds everywhere. The window which shows the interpolation results still seem to show strange information but it is not a worry at this stage. So all in all a good result thank you.Dave Jennings

Weather at small airports work round
kiwi55 replied to kiwi55's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumHi Damian,Thanks for your honest answer. It is a pity, however we look forward to improvements in the new program. At least you now know where to start. Can I have a little more explanation regarding."modifying the station database(s) should provide you with better results as Kostas recommended" Not sure how this is done? Also allthough many people are looking at this post I am sure that there others who are not following. May i suggest that you post a notice on your findings so that others will know this limitation and not keep working/posting on it.I will apply to be a beta testerDave Jennings

Weather at small airports work round
kiwi55 replied to kiwi55's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumHi,Max surface wind is 74KtsMy NZWT is showing 200/07 which is probably correct. However when I look at the interpolation it is using the same as the first picture above as are many airports in NZ?Dave Jennings

Weather at small airports work round
kiwi55 replied to kiwi55's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumHi,i understand what you are saying but the wind at NZWR and many other smaller airports is 180/00 which is just not correct. Nothing like it. Although NZAA is 70 miles away it still should have a major influence on NZWR.Dave Jennings

Weather at small airports work round
kiwi55 replied to kiwi55's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumHi,I realise NZPI is not in the database and I will insert it however if you look carefully at the NZWR data it says 180/00 whereas NZAA is reporting 240/15NZWR always seem to report zero wind.Dave Jennings

Weather at small airports work round
kiwi55 replied to kiwi55's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumSorry here it is. These interpolation results seem to be the same for most of the small airports and I have seen a post somewhere wherer someone had the same results on the other side of the world?Dave Jennings

Weather at small airports work round
kiwi55 replied to kiwi55's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumHi Damian,Thanks for reply. The way you have described your interpolation principle is exactly how I would expect it to work however in some of our systems it does not work that way. Nzaa and NZCH should always be reporting as they are major airports. It seems that on our systems no mater what is reporting at NZAA/NZCH the wind at outlying airport is zero. I am away for a couple days but will continue to test when I get back. I assume you mean the "real time button" when you refer to live weather?Dave Jennings

Weather at small airports work round
kiwi55 replied to kiwi55's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumHi Damian, Thankyou I have seen other posts where the same exact interpolation details have been reported and the airport has been on the other side of the world. Something is causing this problem. If we can fix this I think your program will be first class. I love every other aspect. I noticed there was another log file called ASA.log I had a quick look through that and the New Zealand airports seem to be OK. I assume that log is from a time before I changed to ASEDave Jennings

Weather at small airports work round
kiwi55 replied to kiwi55's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumHi Damian,Thankyou for reply. I am sorry for my use of strong words but this has been a fustrating problem. If you fly in a well populated area like the USA I am sure the program works perfectly but for countries like New Zealand there is a problem.Interpolation says NE DIST: 378 DXXX then some data,SE DIST 627 FOOG,SW DIST 985 FHAW,NW DIST 336 DGAA, THese results always come up. At a reporting airport such as NZAA the weather is always correct. It is the interpolated airports that are the problem. Hope this helpsDave Jennings

Weather at small airports work round
kiwi55 replied to kiwi55's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumHiPlease look at my post "Interpolation SP3" dated 29 Augaust 2011. I never received any worthwhile answer. I just trying to offer answer which works for me in this post. For flying between our 5 main airports in New Zealand, which have weather reporting in your system, using Jets it is great but for local VFR flying the weather is always wrong. I am using standard with all the usual settings that have been recomended. I have tried every combination.Dave

Weather at small airports work round
Having found the interpolation at small airports does not work well (useless). I tried many way to find a solution and have now settled on a reasonable work round when just flying locally..On the "report" page select a airport which is reporting close by. (not interpolated). Then on the "option" page bottom left is a weather distance setting box. Either set global or a long distance. Now you have the close by reported weather at your local airport.

Interpolation SP3
kiwi55 replied to kiwi55's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumHi Jim.First I have been using FS for more than 20 years and logged many thousands of hours. I also fly real planes so i know what i am doing.I believe SP3 is B647 and that's what I am using. My home airport is NZPI Parakai and I asure you it does exist.NZAA is about 15 miles to the South but never figures in the interpolation? Please read my second post and explain if you can?If only we can fix this.Dave

Interpolation SP3
kiwi55 replied to kiwi55's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumFurther to my first post.Reading some other posts I see a user stating he is obtaining weather for a place in Denmark. His interpolation result is :Interpolation details: NE Dist 378 DXXX, SE Dist 527 FOOG, SW Dist 985 FHAW, NW Dist 335 DGAAFunny my station NZPI in New zealand also is using those same details?Something is wrong somewhere.Dave J

Interpolation SP3
HI,I love this program except for one problem. The interpolation is not accurate. In New Zealand where not many station are downloaded the interpolation uses completely irelevant stations even when reporting stations are close by. Surely it would not be hard to improve this by giving close by stations which are reporting true weather Metars more weighting.Thankyou
