  1. I came so close to moving to Adak Alaska in 1980. Dad was a USMC GySgt we were stationed at Whidbey Island NAS and he got orders to Adak. We were ready to go, and the Gunny in Adak liked it there and decided to extend. So we went to Maryland instead. I always wondered what it would have been like there. The base was closed down years ago.

Last week I took my son's family to Peterson Space Force Base, where they have a small indoor museum and a bunch of outdoor displays, mostly centered on air defense over the USAF's history.

One of the outside aircraft displays there is an EC-121, which is the military radar surveillance version of the Constellation (replaced in 1978 by the E-3 AWACS).  I had seen it there before, and thought it was a hollow shell, as most outdoor static displays are.  To my surprise, the docent unlocked the door and gave us a nice tour of the Connie which, as it turns out, is completely preserved inside including the flight deck, all the radar and commo operators' stations, etc.  It really gave me a new appreciation for the old graceful bird as well as its complexity.

If you like lots of dials and switches, this is the airplane for you!

I was recently at the Dulles air and space museam. They have a connie inside there also along with lots of others like the space shuttle. Enjoyable for sure.

Great shot, but don't get too close to Vancouver. That area is in dire need of an update. Every time I fly there, I am appalled at the number of melted buildings 😪.

Very nice shot for shure but i am with paulb.

This Programetry is a truly Desaster ( at last for me ) this melted and apocalypse look realy kills the fun of this fantastic Flightsimulation and is "word not allowed" for this Sim.

Therfor I prefer autogenous buildings a thousand times more over that apocalyptic look..

Can not understand that some people tolerate sutch a "word not allowed"..

And we would save a lot of bandwidth for streaming..

    cheers  😉

Yes it looks nuked. Samscene is coming out with Vancouver and I can't wait!
