Terrain load stops between flights
RetPgmr replied to RetPgmr's topic in Crash To Desktop (CTD) Forum
Flight plan developed with FSX flight planner. Flight plans were saved during flight planner. Aircraft: Boeing 737-400 (the one that ships with the FSX software). Haven't tried other aircraft. FSX version 10.0.61344 using SP1. I tried to attach 2 flight plans that I put in a Notepad file but it kept giving me an error when I would try to attach it to this reply. So I have pasted the text of the file into his reply FLIGHT PLANS - Portland (KPDX) to Seattle (KSEA) <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <SimBase.Document Type="AceXML" version="1,0"> <Descr>AceXML Document</Descr> <FlightPlan.FlightPlan> <Title>KPDX to KSEA</Title> <FPType>IFR</FPType> <CruisingAlt>11000</CruisingAlt> <DepartureID>KPDX</DepartureID> <DepartureLLA>N45° 35' 23.25",W122° 35' 47.68",+000030.00</DepartureLLA> <DestinationID>KSEA</DestinationID> <DestinationLLA>N47° 25' 53.58",W122° 18' 28.83",+000433.00</DestinationLLA> <Descr>KPDX, KSEA</Descr> <DeparturePosition>GATE C 10</DeparturePosition> <DepartureName>Portland Intl</DepartureName> <DestinationName>Seattle-Tacoma Intl</DestinationName> <AppVersion> <AppVersionMajor>10</AppVersionMajor> <AppVersionBuild>61355</AppVersionBuild> </AppVersion> <ATCWaypoint id="KPDX"> <ATCWaypointType>Airport</ATCWaypointType> <WorldPosition>N45° 35' 23.25",W122° 35' 47.68",+000030.00</WorldPosition> <ICAO> <ICAOIdent>KPDX</ICAOIdent> </ICAO> </ATCWaypoint> <ATCWaypoint id="KSEA"> <ATCWaypointType>Airport</ATCWaypointType> <WorldPosition>N47° 25' 53.58",W122° 18' 28.83",+000433.00</WorldPosition> <ICAO> <ICAOIdent>KSEA</ICAOIdent> </ICAO> </ATCWaypoint> </FlightPlan.FlightPlan> </SimBase.Document> Seattle (KSEA) to Spokane (KGEG) <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <SimBase.Document Type="AceXML" version="1,0"> <Descr>AceXML Document</Descr> <FlightPlan.FlightPlan> <Title>KSEA to KGEG</Title> <FPType>IFR</FPType> <CruisingAlt>13000</CruisingAlt> <DepartureID>KSEA</DepartureID> <DepartureLLA>N47° 26' 21.52",W122° 17' 54.91",+000433.00</DepartureLLA> <DestinationID>KGEG</DestinationID> <DestinationLLA>N47° 37' 0.38",W117° 31' 14.08",+002372.00</DestinationLLA> <Descr>KSEA, KGEG</Descr> <DeparturePosition>GATE A 10</DeparturePosition> <DepartureName>Seattle-Tacoma Intl</DepartureName> <DestinationName>Spokane Intl</DestinationName> <AppVersion> <AppVersionMajor>10</AppVersionMajor> <AppVersionBuild>61355</AppVersionBuild> </AppVersion> <ATCWaypoint id="KSEA"> <ATCWaypointType>Airport</ATCWaypointType> <WorldPosition>N47° 26' 21.52",W122° 17' 54.91",+000433.00</WorldPosition> <ICAO> <ICAOIdent>KSEA</ICAOIdent> </ICAO> </ATCWaypoint> <ATCWaypoint id="KGEG"> <ATCWaypointType>Airport</ATCWaypointType> <WorldPosition>N47° 37' 0.38",W117° 31' 14.08",+002372.00</WorldPosition> <ICAO> <ICAOIdent>KGEG</ICAOIdent> </ICAO> </ATCWaypoint> </FlightPlan.FlightPlan> </SimBase.Document> -
I've looked through most of the archives on this subject and couldn't find my specific issue. After a successful flight I'm back at the Free Flight screen. I click on Flight Planner to load another saved flight. It loads it then I click on Fly Now button, the Terrain Loading box comes up, reaches a random percentage each time and stops. After waiting for approximately 5 minutes I bring up Windows Task Manager to see what is going on. It shows Flight Simulator running. I close Task Manager and wait another 5 minutes then bring up Task Manager again and it still shows as running. At this point I give up and end the Flight Simulator X task. This happens every time I try to do 2 flights without exiting FSX. I even tried forcing FSX to load a new fsx.cfg by renaming the old one. This didn't help either. I'm running Windows 7 SP1. Processor: AMD FX-8120 Eight-Core Processor, 3.10 GHz RAM: 8.00 GB System: 64-bit Operating System Display: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti with 1GB VRAM I reset ALL settings to FSX defaults to see if this would fix the problem and it didn't. I don't have any add-on scenery files. Any suggestions?

I did right click the icon and chose properties - the original icon was not there! The only one I found was the one I described.

Finally got a computer that would run FSX. Problem #1 - After I installed FSX it placed an icon on the desktop that was a representation of the picture on the box. Two days later Windows could not find the icon in the fsx.exe file so it just displayed a generic Windows icon. Clicking on icon FSX still ran normally. I tried finding the missing icon but couldn't. Only icon I could find was a white airplane on a blue blackground that I found in the fsx.exe file. Any idea as to where the orignal icon went? Problem #2 - After a flight, when exiting the program I am not shown the Logbook entry for that flight and give the opportunity to edit it. I could do this in FS9. I remember in FS9 there was a place in general settings where you could turn this feature on or off. I can't find it in FSX. Any help would be appreciated.

Nope, nothing happens when I press and release either the 1 or 2 key.

Ok, I downloaded the zip file. Since I'm new to adding add-ons to FS could you help me make sure I do things right? I know I have to unzip the file first. Can I unzip it into any folder on my pc or do I need to unzip it to a specific folder with in FS9? Once it is unzipped how do I make FS9 aware of this add-on? Once FS9 is aware of it how do I use it with the aircraft I am currently flying? Thanks for any help you can provide.

I'm flying the default Boeing 737-400.

Ok, I tried the 2 suggestions. From SPOT view I pressed shift+p which began the pushback. Staying in SPOT view I continuously held down the 1 key (key above the Q key) for the entire pushback which lasted approximately 30 seconds. Nothing happened. The aircraft never turned. Now I'm really stumped.I checked by keyboard assignments with FS9 just to make sure I hadn't at some previous time changed the 1 and 2 assignments but they are still set at the default settings.

I've now advanced to learning how to fly the bigger jets (737-400) and since this aircraft is parked at a gate I need to use the "pushback" feature. According to the manual I need to release the brake, press ctrl+p to start and stop the pushback. This part works fine. The manual also says to use the numeric 1 & 2 keys to turn the aircraft during pushback. I can't get this to work. I have tried the 1 & 2 keys across the top of the keyboard. I have tried the ! & 2 keys on the numeric keypad with Num Lock turned on and off with no luck. I'm currently using Flight Sim 2004. What am I doing wrong?
