  1. Until MS2020 supports VR on Occulus, I'll be sticking with P3D. I'm very impressed with V5, the loading times seem faster, and I get better performance. It looks much better out of the box, but with ORBX, the whole thing looks amazing, so I'm happy with it for now, I have quite a lot of add ons. I have activesky and REX products, but haven't put them on V5 yet, it looks fine without at the moment. But I love flying in VR (not all the time, but a lot of the time). I'm looking forward to MSFS, but sometimes I wish there was just one sim, as it ends up costing a lot of money. That said, if we didn't spend money on it, it probably wouldn't have got to the position it is now with all the fantastic add ones etc, we'd have just been stuck with stock FSX. So yes, it costs money and will continue to do so, but it makes us happy and keeps the hobby moving forward and getting better, so money well spent at the end of the day.
  2. Wow, trumps mine edetroit, great to see such an excellent screenshot. Photoshop is cheating just a little (although looks awesome). How about any raw, undoctored screenshots so we can see what's genuinly possible on our computers (warts and all). Thanks for the pic. Shame screenshots can't be posted directly into the forum though. Rob.
  3. There should be a pinned FS9 screenshot topic, where we can post screenshots to show that FS9 isn't quite dead in the water yet. I recently dug out an old Hong Kong addon I had in the back of my cupboard (by flightsoft). I remember trying it years ago and it slowed the simulator to a crawl on my old PC. Now I can run it maxed out at a silky smooth 60 fps. It still looks pretty impressive in my view, and the smoothness of the flying adds to the experience.
  4. All the developers that keep this great sim alive are amazing. What they've done with the sim is excellent work, far beyond the original scope.
  5. Not quite. Spring isn't included yet, the other four are there. Still worth it though in my view, way, way better than GE (and running silky smooth on my PC). I'm using the GE Spring textures until they're released.
  6. Another FS9 pic from the Hong Kong scenic flight in FS9 (FS9 Evo, REX and FS Global). FS9 used to look pretty bad from low altitude, but looks good now.
  7. Hi all, I don't post often, and I'm sure all FS9 users have heard of FS9 Evolution, but for those yet to give it a try, I've just installed it and I can say that it's well worth your while. I imagine it needs a fairly decent PC to run to its potential though, however, it does come in two versions, with a 'lite' autogen version too. I attach a screenshot taking off from Exeter in the UK (using the excellent UK2000 Exeter Extreme airport), and have to say that it's not too dissimilar than the ORBX scenery. I haven't 'touched up' this screenshot in any way, it's taken direct. I also use REX and UTX Europe. So in summary, amazing work from the developer, and well worth getting for FS9 users. It's donationware, but in my view, is good enough quality to be payware. It amazes me how, from the humble beginnings of FS9, it can be turned into so much more thanks to the passion and talent of the FS community. Rob.
