Automated Tweaking and Tuning tool for FSX
Thanks for the confirmation!Sadly it is part of a Dell XPS system which renders it impossible to overclock and I'm not going in there with pliers and soldering iron as various tutorials on the web suggest I should!!I think it's time to retire it and fund either an i5 or i7 system with up to date gfx card and a few new bells and whistles.:(

I would love to have said that limiting it to 20fps cured it somewhat but sadly it is now just less smooth with the stutters still thrown in for good measure. :(

Automated Tweaking and Tuning tool for FSX
Well after temporarily giving up and settling on the fact that my ageing Q6600 2.4ghx and 512MB 8800GT (despite all of *******' tweaking program advice and cfg changes) can't quite handle FSX as most are talking about on here, I gave it a break and went back to it a few days ago.For some unknown reason, I'm now getting around 20-30 30fps in full screen mode (with external limiter) and this is generally nice and smooth but with pretty awful stuttering.Switching to windowed mode makes the fps drop to about 18-22 but the obvious stuttering seems to have gone (or is certainly far less noticeable).Has anyone else come across this phenomenon and is there a cure for it?

Automated Tweaking and Tuning tool for FSX
Hi all, having developed the dreaded stutters a month or so ago, I've followed multiple examples of this type of thread with interest and some success such as using the Auto Tweaking tool.Tonight I'd basically had enough of getting nowhere (with VFR GenX2 for the UK and several addon bases) and went to the Saudi desert to try something new.Tabuk airbase, every slider to 0 apart from the frames which are limited externally to 30 (which I can achieve in most areas just with stutters) and I get a rock steady 30 fps but with a bucketful of stutters thrown in for good measure. My (admittedly old) rig is a Dell XPS 420 with Q6600 2.4ghz chip, 3GB RAM and 8800GT 512MB gfx card. For some daft reason (with VFR especially) it seems that swapping between windowed and FS mode improves things for a few minutes before the stutters catch up again. As far as I'm aware I've tried just about every tweak mentioned singly and also together and realluy got nowhere. As I've just proved that I can now get stutters with the most basic of landscapes and minimum slider detail, can anyone suggest my next step apart from buying a decent i5 system (which I can't really afford at the moment) as these stutters are just about the only thing screwing up FSX for me at this moment...!
