k trout, I don't want to drag this out or cause any animosity, but since you asked ..... I had selected the PayPal option rather than a Credit Card. I did this because I prefer to limit the number of people who do have my details. The more instances there are of those details being stored somewhere, no matter how well-intentioned the site is, the greater the risk of them slipping out and identity fraud following.
Even though I had chosen to use PayPal which is specifically structured to reduce the need to give personal details to multiple vendors, I was still required to give those details before I could purchase and open the software. Other PayPal vendors do not require this. The details should only be requested if actually required, and there should be a statement about what measures they are taking to ensure security of the information. And what about telephone number? I could find no statement anywhere to say how this was to be used or to assure me that it would not be passed on to telemarketers.
I know that Fligtht1 have many, many satisfied customers, but personally I do not like to be required to give up personal information that is not necessary for the transaction without explanation. In this case, it is my opinion that neither my address nor my telephone number were required.
I realise that not all people share my feelings, and I don't expect them to. I suppose it's a personal thing.
Don.
