  1. Do you (or anyone for that matter) know if I install a vanilla copy of FS on another PC, could I transfer over the entire Scenery/World/Texture folder to re-generate the AGN files and not having any issues? I really want to avoid running any type of repair over my actual FS9 install to avoid any possible issues/conflicts that might arise nor do I want to lose any current AGN files/textures already in the World/Texture folder tied to third party airports (I think it is only Latin VFR and FSDT files since those are the only ones I had to run the installer for compared to what I do with my others). Thanks in advice, Gary http://forum.avsim.net/topic/350994-autogen-building-clustering/
  2. Let me set the record straight since I think it is my fault b/c I didn't explain fully. My CPU isn't struggling. As you can see in the video, when I set it unlimited it was blasting thru 80+ FPS in the LDS767 2d panel at this add-on airport. It was pushing well over 150 FPS at default airports. Temps are great and it is a brand new (Nov/2012) AMD 965. My issue is that over the past few days, this funny behavior started when I connected to vatsim using SB3. The only thing I do that others might not is I drag the fs9.exe over all 4 CPUs. I know it doesn't do anything really but I've noticed some benefit. The SB3 issue I brought up is not the same issue. I still have the blurry to clear pop when offline. My issue that I was talking about is the drop in FPS that just started. None the less I've put a work-around on it for now; not ideal but it puts my mind at ease until I can dig a bit deeper. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Let me ask one more question (I think I already know the answer). I have my AutoGen on MAX and my FS has almost no AutoGen buildings/trees outside the general area of the airport. I've installed and un-installed REX and GE Pro II and I have a sneaking feeling that one of those products edited the AutoGen out. This is how it should look but as you can see in my video, I have none of that. Any ideas? How to fix? I think once I get the AutoGen issue fixed, I can put this topic to rest since basically everything has been fixed or accounted for. Thanks, Gary
  3. OK another update. I got my FS running to my general liking. Using some NickN tweaks have seemed to make the blurry much better. I've left AF as application controlled for now because that blurry to clear pop is still there. I think I'm starting to be happy with these NickN settings overall. But if it isn't one this it is another...... I first though it was a AF/AA conflict (post #37 // #2) but now that isn't the case. I've thrown a post up on Vatsim but figured I would throw it out here as well. I think once I get this resolved, I can finally back away from the tweaking game for a while and just enjoy flight sim. http://forums.vatsim.net/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=67912 Any help would be amazing. Thanks for all the wonderful help so far. I'm almost there! Gary
  4. No joy on anything...... I guess we've reach the point where I almost have to accept this behavior  Thanks, Gary
  5. I don't run in Full Screen since I fly on vatsim and I don't run Squawk Box inside flight sim because of the known issue of random CTDs. The only known away around this to run Squawk Box outside FS which means windowed mode. Look guys, I've tried everything you've given me; breaking down new barriers is all well and good but when FS turns into a hitch fest, I'll pass. I'm going to try the settings when I land but at this point I'm just so tried  Thanks, Gary
  6. I'll give them a try again..... one thing I have noticed though, with AF turned on, my FPS acts weird. Like it will hold what it is locked at and then drop all the sudden but when I test it at unlimited, there is no issue. I wonder if my GPU just can't handle AF which is why I'm getting this issue. Never had it before with AF off. Gary
  7. @ I've looked thru all those links and I'm not sure what I am suppose to read. Some are saying there is no fix while others say there is no fix but you can push the blurry to clear out of sight. Is that the jist? If I can just get it pushed out of sight, that is all I really want. Please advise. @ I tried those GPU settings (see post #53). I will throw that .cfg in but other then "WideViewAspect=True" I've tried them all before. And yes.... 1 GPU and 2 Monitors for my FS rig. Thanks, Gary Also it is worth noting that I once tried a GTX650 in this system about a month ago as a test to see if it was my GPU. No difference. Update OK... that .cfg did not work since it is built to run in full screen mode.
  8. OK (part 2)..... Dropping the AF setting down to 2X makes the "popping" blurry to clear go away and just a smooth line of blurry to clear but it is still not ideal and still have my fingers crossed that we all can find a fix. At least now I've got a "balance" if you want to call it that and it is not as annoying. Gary
  9. OK.... Those GPU settings did not fix the clear to blurry issue. Almost looked like nothing changed. In addition, FS was stuttering very bad (I assume it is the pre-render setting). Here is a video showing all those settings in action locked at 30FPS. Notice the nasty tearing. The stuttering if from those GPU settings. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10151703714753179&l=7175947965957912901
  10. I will try 30 again but when I dropped it back to 28, the nasty tear line went away. It is just not really really "fluid" like it is at 30 but I also don't have the nasty refresh line/tear. Well is there a fix to push that "crisp ~ blurred" out of my sight? I'm getting ready to try @@neumanix settings but just want to see if this is approached from a different angle. There has to be something out there b/c this is quite annoying when flying low. I know this isn't for me but I use AlphaSearcher and like it. I haven't done my entire default FS settings but I run all new sceneries (payware/freeware) through it. So when a freeware scenery stutters I know it isn't missing textures and just poor .bgl coding. Getting ready to try the settings, will advise. Gary
  11. @@neumanix All this has been discussed to death in many threads here at Avsim and frankly I'm surprised of how hard it seems for some people to get it. If I got paid for all the work I've put into tweaks over the last year, I wouldn't have to work at my current airline..... only recently did I discover how active avsim still was in regards to fs2004 ^_^ In fact I'm in the process of going to "live the dream" all weekend and have run out of time to try to tweak. Your FS pictures look great. Will try settings when I get back but please see below: 1) I will try; not totally sure what all this means but if you say so! 2) 4XS was causing my FPS to keep dropping on my last flight for some reason. I had it locked at 27 and it would hold that and then drop down to 25 for a second and then repeat. Temps were amazing, so the computer wasn't downclocking and it held the FPS when I switched back to 4X. I know it was 4XS since that was the only thing I had changed before the last flight. It is weird..... I've used 4XS in the past with no issues and when I got on the ground, I let the FPS go unlimited and it was pushing well over 80. Will try again, might have then been a one off fluke based on the new AF settings. Right now I have it at 4X and didn't notice any difference as it was. I'm not sure what setting you're referring to on the second part.... 2X, 2X2, or 2QS (going from memory right now). Please advise! 3) I was always told that "performance" gave the best results. Is this something new? 4) Will try again.... I tried 1 and 8, before, when testing the Vsync options. 5) I use dual monitors and fly in windowed mode (I have the menu bar removed, so it almost like full screen). 6) Will try 7) Will try again.... I've been fiddling with that on and off for a while now 8-9) I've tried all settings under the sun (see my last post) and I still kept getting the nasty tear line. I'll try it one more time with the other settings you mentioned. If it doesn't work, I'll post a video showing that issue. My monitor is a 60Hz but it defaults to 59Hz (hence why I said 59/60) At this point, I want to fix the blurry to smooth thing and if I can run FS at 30 again, that is just a plus. I've been non-stop tweaking over the past year and my tweaking obsession only got worse when I built my new rig just for FS, since I know it can do much better :Silly: I don't know if this helps or not but this is the tweak guide I've used as my starting point for the last year http://www.ausflightsim.net/article37.html Hope this all gives you some more info to go on! @@Cactus521 Thanks for your help as well! Thanks, Gary
  12. @@Cactus521 Yes please keep thinking...... if it is not one thing its another at this point. I'm beginning to feel like Air Force 1's MX crew. 3-5 hours of maintenance for 1-2 hours of flight. Re: Vsync Trust me that is not the reason. I can't count how many hours I put into that issue. I was trying settings left and right, up and down. Almost drove myself nuts. Still wish I could run it at 30 FPS since it is so fluid. I even thought of going up to a 75Hz monitor (currently my Acer is 59/60) but was told that wouldn't help and I would have wasted the money in the process. I've settled on my current settings after hours of taxiing in circles and judging the smoothness of the movement off the terminal building at the default KSEA..... 30 FPS is so smooth but alas <_< Gary
  13. @@Cactus521 That is how my FS looks too.... my only issue now (other then my screen flicker issue from another topic) is the "rolling wave" when the textures transition from blurry to smooth. I just need a way/fix to either a ) make the transition happen a lot farther from the aircraft and basically out of sight or b ) eliminate the "wave" all together. This blurry to clear transition couldn't have slipped thru during initial release. Re: 30FPS I would LOVE to run my game at 30 FPS but there is a mean refresh/tear line that runs thru the screen every few seconds when I run it at 30 FPS. I corrected that with running the FPS higher or lower then 30 (still trying to find the perfect balance). Gary I guess another way to say it..... I need a much larger "clear texture" radius around my aircraft. That way I don't see the transition. I know this feature is out there b/c I don't see it in a FS videos and such.
  14. Edit..... Forgot to attach the picture as I got a phone call during the post. I also have "extend texture terrain" selected. What is this "444" you talk about? Gary
  15. @@Cactus521 1) I tried your Terrain settings, no joy. I even threw a crazy number in of 10.0 for both and it didn't do a thing 2) AA in FS with enhance mode didn't work. Made it look very bad. Plus I noticed you have it set to "Override" in your settings above 3) I already use HDEv2...... it is not so much a transition between the ground and horizon, that is fine. The issue I'm having is the blurry to clear transition about a mileish in front of the aircraft as I'm moving. Attached is the most current screen capture of my FS 2004 inspector settings. Gary
  16. @@neumanix @@Cactus521 Or anyone for that matter..... I think this is now a by-product on fixing the first issue. If you look closely around 00:16 and then again around 00:25, you'll see that there is like a radius around my aircraft where the textures are very clear and just past them they are kinda blurry. The problem I'm facing now is the transition from blurry to clear. It is kind of abrupt and very annoying, plus is really detracts from flying low and slow. It is almost like a rolling wave in front of the aircraft. I've been trying different things over the past two days for at least a total of 3 hours and can't seem to make it go away. I even killed the fs9.cfg and it still did this. Any idea of to get rid of the "wave" or make the change from blurry to clear happen further away from the aircraft and not so close? I even removed the HDEv2 HD ground texture and, while helping, didn't fix this issue. It is almost like a "popping" issue or something. I'm at a loss at this point. I doubt this is one of "those things" we have to live with in FS. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10151695598933179&l=4812122693376503604 Thanks, Gary
  17. @@Cactus521 I will probably end up trying those now that we've located the issue as to why none of the .cfg tweaks seemed to make a difference. I just hope with those settings and the fix, the sim doesn't stutter like it did before. Right now I'm at 3.5/4.0/232. Great active forum guys; just wish I could fix my other issue  B) Gary
  18. @@neumanix This right here ^ That is why I posted this to get more eyes on my issue. Such a simple fix (User Defined)..... had totally missed it. Will try with 4X and 16X; didn't really notice a difference. Now if I could just figure out this: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/407963-screen-flicker-during-weather-update/ I'd be a very happy camper. Thanks to all, Gary
  19. The only thing I did was re-install my HDEV2 textures this morning (like just over-wrote them) and the line at KCLE seems even worse now. @Scorp No luck....... actually made everything very blurry around the airport it seemed. Any other suggestion? Do I need to change any setting while adding 1024? @Cactus521 I still can see the line of change just in front of my aircraft at other airports but the line is at least clear. Like I said above, I wonder if this KCLE scenery has some poor textures. I also tired the "Enhance AA" and the game looked bad with no change in the issue I'm having. Airport in video: BluePrint KCLE with update 1.3 and 1.4 Thanks, Gary
  20. @@Scorp I'll give that a shot. The combination of settings I have runs the sim smooth and the outside looks pretty good. I've also killed my .cfg before and ran everything at max. The only difference I noticed was some hitching and a higher .exe memory usage. Plus I like to leave some over head for my rig to use if needed. @@Cactus521 A full copy of your fs9.cfg didn't/wound't work. You have a few things mapped to your personal HDD and you run FS full screen. AA in FS9 is the biggest no no I've ever heard. Also, I did try it with another aircraft as well. I'll look into some of the stuff you suggested thing a bit more. @@Arklight1 Tired that before. Thanks, Gary
  21. No joy on the fs9.cfg tweaks.... I didn't notice a difference and seem to have a slight stutter every once in a while. I think that video is a more extreme case out what I'm having as well as I think the textures aren't as good in BluePrint KCLE as in their other programs. So I'm back to square one. Thanks for the help thus far! Gary
  22. All full copy of the FS9.cfg will not work. However, I'm going to try a few of the tweaks you have (I've used different numbers in the past). Gary
  23. I'll have a try but I don't think it will work.... especially since I run FS in windows mode b/c of a dual monitor setup. Thanks, Gary
  24. Yes it is..... it is an older Acer from 2008 (Acer AL2016W)
  25. The entire .cfg file or just certain parts b/c I can already tell a lot of our settings (in game; not texture) don't seem to match up? Thanks, Gary
