Would you suggest deleting the cfg and making FSX build a fresh one?

Hi guys. Thankyou to you all for all your comments and tips, makes for interesting reading. Ok so here's where I'm at with things. My PC is an i7 2600k overclocked to 4.5ghz, Nvidia GTX580, water cooled. I'm running Windows 7 64. I have FSX installed with Acceleration, PMDG 737 NGX, Ground Environment X Europe, Ultimate Terrain X and REX. I just think that I have an underlying issue somewhere within the cfg or Nvidia Inspector because of the following.... a) Micro stutters B) Shimmering textures c) Jumping plane when on the ground! so many videos on Youtube etc of people running lesser systems than mine with much better results. One thing that I do not have is a SSD but after reading so many posts about this I think the jury is still out as to whether this will make any difference to anything but loading times. Yeah I tried http://www.venetubo.com/fsx.html this a while ago but didn't have much luck. I'm going to have a good go tomorrow at it and follow all of Kostas guide. To be fair I've made no changes at all in my .cfg file so will certainly try that. What a nightmare! I WILL get this running right if it kills me!

Hello guys. I'm having major issues in setting up FSX properly. I've had my computer for a year now but still believe FSX isn't running right. I have a i72600k overclocked to 4.5ghz and a Nvidia GTX580 so I know that my PC is capable. I've tried and tried and tried to get this thing running to how I believe it should but I'm struggling! I have the PMDG 737, Ground Environment X Europe and Real Environment Extreme installed but I'm not happy with the performance. Micro stutters, poor frame rates etc. What I am resorting to asking is if there is anybody out there willing to set FSX up for me, I'd actually deliver you my PC to your door and even pay for you to do this! To be fair I haven't read it yet as I've only just installed it, I take it there's an option in the FMC?

I've just installed the Ryanair livery, all good apart from I have no head up display anymore, if I run the standard livery then it's there, but missing on the Ryanair 737-800 Winglets? Any ideas? Thanks.

Well before I bought my PC I did a lot of research and came to the conclusion of either the 560, 570 or the 580, which is what I went with. All the good vids on YouTube I've seen are running these cards.

I tried to get a screenshot but the lines didn't really show up. They were horizontal interference lines going right across the screen, only did it when under load, hence why they did it in FSX. I've always used a VGA on my old PC but that didn't have the hardware mine has and I got no issues. But the VGA cable didn't like the GTX 580! Can't believe I didn't think of it first. Oh well, thanks again guys.

Well that's sorted, DVI did the trick, looks bloody awesome now. Thankyou for your help!

Ok so I've done what you said and set the settings to the same as yours and it runs quite well, apart from these annoying horizontal lines, especially noticeable when I fly at night. I've done some searching and may have found the problem. I'm running a VGA cable and I think I really need a DVI, quite a few posts about it on various forums. I'll give it a try and see, fingers crossed.

Ah ok, I understand now. I'll give it a go tomorrow. Problem I'm having too is understanding what every setting means and what effect it has on FSX, it's a hell of a trial and error game! I'll let you know how I get on, cheers for your help, it was getting to the point of nearly launching my new PC across the estate I was that frustrated.

I downloaded the new Nvidia drivers and these lines are still there, really odd. Has anyone got a GTX580 and using the latest drivers and the latest version of Inspector? If so please can you show me exactly what settings you're using please? I'm beginning to think I may have a faulty card but need to try some other settings first. Thankyou for all replies!

No it's definitely running in 32. Tried re-installing the drivers but the horizontal lines are still there, they're almost like interference lines, I even moved my wireless router away from the monitor but no joy. I ran a 3d graphics test programme and the lines show up on that so it's not just FSX. After hours on it last night I've finally got the Nvidia Inspector setup and the sim runs well now part from these lines! Really strange, I'll try another monitor on it this week to at least eliminate that. I'll try and get a screenshot but not sure if they'll show up, but I'll give it a go.

Yeah I've got into that, the screen with all the various drop down boxes but I'm running the new Inspector 1.9.5.5, and some of the drop down tabs read different to what's on Nicks set up guide, so I can't follow it exactly! There's problems somewhere because it's not running all that smooth, the scenery doesn't look great, I'm getting serious screen flickers when changing views and normal flying, the PMDG 737 crashes everytime I go into settings and then go back to the sim! I know it's nothing to do with my hardware, it's all to do with settings and I just don't know enough about them to determine which ones to set! Pi$$ed off is an understatement!

The settings on the Inspector I've got are not listed. It's a newer version and I can't get the older one! This is a nightmare!

They're all across the screen and they appear in the day but like you say they're not nearly as noticeable. To be fair after re-installing the Nvidia drivers I didn't delete the cfg so I'll try that. I might just re-install everything and start from scratch! It's frustrating as the sim runs perfectly, apart from these annoying lines!

I have a GTX580 graphics card with the latest drivers installed and everytime I run FSX you can see these faint, shimmering horizontal lines in the screen, more noticeable when set at night or dusk. I've set various settings on the Nvidia inspector and made sure V Sync is on, makes no difference. I re-installed the drivers tonight so everything set to default and the lines are still there! This is really bugging me as i've just spent a lot of money on a FSX PC!!! Has anyone had this problem or anyone got any settings to try to get rid of these lines! Thanks guys.

Hi guys, yesterday after 7 hours setting up FSX on my new PC I've finally got it spot on, well almost. Whenever I fly at night, dusk or dawn there's these annoying flickers going across the screen. They're only very faint but I can see them. This is using the PMDG 737 and it doesn't do it in the daylight. I've no idea what setting I could possibly change in the Nvidia Inspector! I know this may sound a bit vague but short of someone actually coming round my house and see I'm not sure how else to describe it! Thanks for your help.
