  1. Wound up building my own computer with parts from Tiger Direct and Amazon.com. Windows 7 64 bit. So far no problems with FSX but I haven't made any changes to it yet like add on aircraft or repaints.
  2. Returned my computer to Best Buy this afternoon. Good people. No hassle. I have looked on Newegg and Tiger Direct but I think I'll go to Milwaukee PC tomorrow and order one of their gaming computers with Windows 7. That way if I should have any problem I won't have to ship it back and forth, I can just drive about ten miles instead. I'll probably go with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. Does that sound like it would work well with FSX Gold?
  3. I'm the only user on my computer and am the admin. I've tried the above. I read the ezine article and installed and ran a registry cleaner as it suggested. Still no joy. Returning this computer to Best Buy and will try one from my local computer store that has Windows 7. Thanks for the replies and suggestions, Russ
  4. Restoring the computer to factory settings and returning it to Best Buy. Microsoft can stick Windows 8 where the sun don't shine. And Office 2013 too as far as that goes.
  5. Received my Gold edition this afternoon. Same installation error. Disappointing.
  6. As disk 2 was finishing it stopped and I got this: "Error 1772. There is a problem with this windows installer package. A program run as a part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor". Then shortly after I get: "Error 1603. Fatal error during installation. Consult windows installer help (msi.chm) or MSDN for more information". I tried windows installer help and MSDN but no help. Berlopez - I created a folder on C: named FSX and tried installing FSX but it still wouldn't install. Hopefully upgrading to the Gold edition will help. Russ
  7. I ordered the Gold edition from Amazon this morning in hopes that it will install.
  8. I forgot to mention in case it matters,I have the original version of FSX.
  9. I installed FSX and it worked. I had an issue with Outlook 2013 and iCloud. It locked up my Outlook so it didn't work and I couldn't even uninstall it. I did a "Restore to factory settings" on the computer. Now when I try to reinstall FSX when it reaches near the end of disk 2 it stops and says there's an error with the windows installer. Any suggestions?
  10. Thanks for your help. It didn't work though. I must have screwed something else up. I'll just have to uninstall FSX and re-install it and my addons.Russ
  11. I don't think I need the whole aircraft.cfg file. I just need the the [fltsim.0 through .5]. I think what I messed up are the order of the textures.
  12. I see this is an old topic but I have the same problem. I accidentally deleted my back up aircraft.cfg file and misplaced something in the file I was editing so it isn't working right. If someone has the original FSX DC-3 Aircraft.cfg file I would appreciate a copy. If you can help I'll PM my email to you.
