Does anyone with the Tobii have glasses with UV/blue light coatings on them? I was seriously considering buying it last year, but their website had a warning about NIR coatings on glasses, and I balked.

I use blue light / UV cheaters and seems fine. I do use the eye tracking on several games, including MSFS. Though I keep ET to 5 in MSFS settings.

That's fair, but after having seen their presentation of more detailed info on what's coming in v2024 at FSExpo and the subsequent extensive interviews they gave, it should be at lest clear that it is anything but "not much different than 2020 with the advent of some direct, and possibly forced, mission activities.". Perhaps you're only going by the initial trailer that MS/Asobo dropped, and if you haven't already, watch and read these:

lwt you are correct in your assumption regarding the original video released but I also see the bumps in the road with 2020 too like how the water masks just disappeared recently due to an update. Thank you very much on the link as that was a VERY inspiring read 👍👍.. I will reiterate a previous comment to another forum patron, this will have a permanent hangar in my system, just want to see how it goes first..

A weather system that can dynamically create tornadoes sounds very different to me.

Yes that is pretty amazing, though I still want to see the responses once it comes out. I am sure things and kinks will be worked out as they usually are, but with all the new bells and whistles I just feel there will be plenty of kinks happening. Rest assured, it will have a placement in my hangar whether early or late and I do like the new weather effects big time. 😎👍

  4. I guess I am a little more reserve on this version. I will watch these forums before making the jump. Usually software & games come out and there's tons of screaming then things settle down after the first few months. Though, having said this, I have been a day one on almost all flight sims back to the commodore period (aging engaged). I just don't feel this one will be much different than 2020 with the advent of some direct, and possibly forced, mission activities. One thing is for sure, I will be watching the launch day one. Guess it's a Wait & See for me, but good luck to Asobo & the crowds for sure..

Are either of you using the relatively new DynamicLOD enhancement tool?  I was fine for quite a number of flights after the most recent MSFS updates.  The DynamicLOD tool is the only thing recent I have added or changed.  I went through the language drill I posed the link to, and am not using the LOD tool.  I am now fine.

No sure don't. Language drill didn't work here either. Seems to be an odd one to say the least.

  6. I sure hope they come up with better implementation for the Aileron, Elevator & Rudder AXIS for FSUIPC. The readme states using FSUIPC or SPAD you need to use their LVAR's in the folder. Unfortunately they are missing the elevator and I have no idea how to implement them in my FSUIPC which is what I use for my controllers. I can find their LVARS for the other button options but none of the AXIS items show in the list. Of course, even if they did, I have no CLUE as to how to use them this way. 😕😕😕.

I found today that if I move closer to Tobii sensing bar (attached to my monitor, just pulled monitor toward me) and stabilization improved greatly, I will do more testing but the result of this change was massive to me.

I have seen it mentioned, on the net, that the sweet spot is about 15" from the camera. Don't know I can't get that close with my desk/monitor location.. Mine is about 24" from me.

I have had the same issue and reached out to them sometime last year and sent them a video of the issue. If looking down and over and the center pedestal or up and over to the overhead panel and you try to hold your head still you get some "shaking" I would say. This is pretty much my only gripe with Tobii. I was told they are working on a new software update that should address this. No timeframe or anything was given.

Yes, I sure hope they figure a way to add some dampening or a dead zone when the camera detects no movement. I brought this up some time back when I first bought mine and got the same response. Seems like there should be a way to do it, but who knows.. We can only hope.

My biggest gripe with TrackIR was not working correctly in a bright enviroment, which Tobii Eyetracker has fixed.  thanks for the advice.

Same here and I even had issues with the reflection off my glasses. I do say Tobii does work relatively well with MSFS, enough so that there's no turning back.

  10. Mr Bitst, best advice I can give is to play with the settings until you find something that works for you. I have mine usable  but it does suffer from a lack of stability off-center. Another thing that makes slight movements is facial expressions like talking or yawning. You'll be surprised how much it moves with mouth movement. I have retired my TIR-5 since picking it up and I like it. I wish more developers would add native ability within their sims since I find the Tobii Game Hub seems to affect performance more than Tobii Experience. Maybe one day, the Tobii group will figure out how to add deadlines to the ends of movement which will greatly correct its minor flaws. We can only hope. Good Luck and again, play with the settings in MSFS for the Tobii, also Google Tobii and MSFS and there is some pretty good starting points.

  11. Well I don't know whether it's wrong or right, but I have had no issues, at all, starting the Comanche. I have been flying in the US South which may matter too. Regardless of what the manual or starting procedures say, I give her 1-2 seconds on the fuel pump, then 1-2 pumps of the primer and she has yet to fail me. Some times I don't even turn the fuel pump on just use the couple primer pumps. THOUGH, I do have her fitted with the Fine Wire Spark Plugs, that may have an impact too.

Best bird in the cage as far as I'm concerned
