  1. Hey guys. I just got the Thai Creation VABB but there's apparently an elevation issue on the runway where the aircraft just sinks to the ground. Anyone has this problem and fixed it? Would appreciate your help please. I am using FTX Global also and i have tried searching and got the fix file which contains 2 new bgl but still the problem wont go away. Tried rearranging the order of VABB and VAJJ also but still same problem. Please help.

    Thanks

  2. I have checked the CFG and there is nothing left over there. I only see the camera definition for the default views that came with PMDG. This is after uninstalling and reinstalling PMDG also.  I don't see any labelled with EZDOK at all. What should i do next?

    Thanks

    Swadeep

  3. Ezdok should not have any effect on that NGX DLL. It only controls VC views and the only NGX file it will change is aircraft.cfg.

Before you uninstalled Ezdok did you re-run the EZCA configuration tool to remove these mods? That is part of the recommended uninstall procedure. It shouldn't create a problem if you didn't but if aircraft.cfg is the problem then that would make certain that any mods were removed.

You can edit the aircraft.cfg file yourself to check this quickly. Ezdok inserts a set of lines at the end, just open the file in notepad, delete those lines and save the file again. If you aren't comfortable doing this, reinstall Ezdok, run the configuration tool to remove it from FSX then uninstall Ezdok again.

yes i did that. i followed the manual. i restored to default first then uninstalled the program. I will check the CFG again also. However should it work then what could cause the error then? Or maybe there's something to be done on CFG to make it work? Will report back.

    Thanks

  4. Hi Swadeep.

as no one replied to your issue, I'll chime in, just mind you, I am not a PC expert, and I just will give simple suggestions. What I would do is cancel your FSX. CFG file, uninstall EZ Dok, reboot the computer, and load the 737NGX, let FSX build a new CFG file. Just in case, before deleting the config file you have, make a copy of it, and save it somewhere safe, like your Desktop. Start out doing this, and let us know.

Thanks for your reply! Much appreciated. I have done as you said but the problem still persist. However this time the only improvement is that the sim loads too 100% and the cockpit appears for around few seconds only to CTD again. Still the same error module PMDG_737NGX.DLL.

I am clueless why this is happening. I am sure Ezdok installation must have done something to it but can't figure out what exactly.

    Thanks

  5. Hey guys. I have been using PMDG 737NGX and 777 fine with no problem at all. Recently I have installed Ezdok 1.17 and made cameras set for 777 and did 2 flights with it. All was well. However I wanted to do a NGX flight and I selected that aircraft in menu fine. When I click fly now it loads to about 4-5 percent and then FSX just CTD. I looked into the error file and the fault module was PMDG737NGX.DLL I was wondering if anyone could help please? It must be down to Ezdok ad it was all fine before but then again I can still make flights with 777 but NGX just stopped working since installation of Ezdok. I tried uninstalling PMDG 737NGX already and reinstalled it again but still the same problem. Would appreciate your help please.

    Thanks

  6. Hi guys. I've always wanted to get your opinions on my FSX settings and I would like to know if my computer is under performing. I have a feeling it should do a bit better than it does but then again I still find myself comparing it to FS9 sometimes and that may be the reason why I am not happy. But i know i shouldn't be so if you guys can help me i would appreciate it. Just need your opinions and/or tips. Please bear with me while i post a lot of specs and tweaks below.

    THE QUESTION:

I would like to have 30 fps and I am happy with that smoothness. Up in the air no problem i get it pretty much all the time. It's on the ground and and at busy payware airport i guess: here are some scenarios: based on NGX and T777 by PMDG

    1. Default EDDL that day gave me around 20fps on ground. Maybe traffic or weather? Should not be really.

    2. FSDT KDFW ground only around average 15-20 fps.

    3. AEROSOFT LOWI - average around 20ish on ground. Good weather also

    4. VTBS payware also around low 20s.

So basically is this normal or not? If not is there something else i can do with it?

  7. 1/2 refresh lets in the odd rip, in cockpit you may not have seen any problem, maybe panning the outside view you could see tearing. A slow down somewhere recently may bring it on a little more than it was, so now alerting you to it. Set fixed fps below that which can be maintained and wait 30 seconds for the card to retrain and work on the look ahead buffer, takes a little while. Tweaks may have worked with DX9 and older cards in some way, I've only seen drops in performance on my 680.

...it's possible the new driver update altered the vsync settings internally somehow and isn't working at all. Perhaps making adjustments as I suggested, defaulting the card and remaking settings, will cure the problem, and you can continue with 1/2 refresh setups.

Will try as you suggested when I get home and will report back.

    Thanks

  8. Tearing is inevitable with sync at half refresh, set vSync on and see how that goes. A couple of other things might help: setting affinity generally restricts where Windows can put the threads, with HT off other threads can't use the more efficient HT mode on a core whereas FSX threads will still get the same throughput, and other threads run more efficiently. HIMEMFIX and bufferpools setups can reduce the frame rate on a 680. Go back to default cfg settings then tweak from there. Set the GPU control panel to defaults then set FXAA on, AA Mode enhance, AA setting 16xQ CSAA, AA transparency 8x, max pre rendered frames 4, Tex filter High Q, vSync on.

Will try as you suggested. So are you saying removing highmemfix and bufferpool should help me gain more frames? Everywhere it says these tweaks must be used.

I never had tearing problem with half refresh rate until this driver.

    Thanks

  9. Your computer is pretty solid; very much like mine.

My experience with this is to: Do not OC your Video Card too high. A too high oc on the card WILL cause this. I stay around 800 Mhz- not higher!

Nvidia Drivers: I just go with the most recent one on their website.

The next thing that fix it for me (considering I have a pretty high end system like yours), was to simply go back to "Jezus-Bigote Altuve's" tweaking tool, and lo and behold, I used the suggested tweaked FSX CFG and my sim is as smooth as silk. This of course with using FSX setting set no higher than 80 %. (AI at around 50%)  And, yes I first set my CFG with all good known suggested tweaks. I am flying with high-end aircraft within HD clouds, AI, and gorgeous textures. Now, keep in mind that there isn't any computer out there that will handle 100% maxed settings along with a high-end aircraft, and expect to have no hiccups. Nope, will not happen.

i did not overclock my gfx card at all. maybe the card i got was already overclocked so that's why it said superclocked edition?

How is that supposed to answer his question Mark?

I personally haven't tried the new driver yet, if I can't get VSync to work, it will by the end of FSX for me. Because it's unplayable without VSync. Even 50 FPS is quite choppy. Not when panning around, but when making turns, when looking out of the window at the scenery, when taxiing etc.

would you mind to share to share pics of your nvidia inspector settings please?

If I'm not mistaken, in the Main section of your FSX cfg file add:

    DisablePreload=1

This should get rid of your tearing issue. I am at my office and can not refer to my rig, but I am almost certain I added that on mine and tearing has vanished.

    Hope this helps. :-)

    Best, Jeff

will try with your suggestion and report back

I have the new drivers and have no issues. If I were you I would completely uninstall the Nvidia drivers and start again, being sure the check box "Perform Clean Installation" is checked. It should reset any Nvidia profile settings that may be mucked up.

i did uninstall drivers already and installed inspector and drivers again also but same problem. it's like the tear is mainly visible if i pan the views fast enough. there must be something wrong.

    Anyone else have any suggestions?

    Thanks all

I think he's having the same problem as me also. POST #10

  10. I installed these drivers tonight, and put my old inspector settings back in, but when flying around in sim there is a wave like effect to the scenery which I didn't have before. any thoughts on how to correct this without rolling back drivers?

YES! i know what you mean! i am getting the same thing. In fact i mentioned it in another topic.

Please let me know if you find a fix! Some said in that thread to add disable preload in MAIN FSX.

  11. Hi guys. I just recently updated my nvidia driver to 331.65. I notice that I can still see tear now when panning around cockpit. My nvidia inspector still the same setting which is 1/2 refresh rate. Any ideas? I did however changed 8XSq to 8XS and 2SSGD to 4X Super sampling. I am trying everything again to get the best performance out of FSX. Here's my spec for what it's worth. Please feel free to suggest FSX setting and tweaks. I do have the basic HIGHMEMFIX USEPOOL (=0) AFFINITY 14 (HT OFF) TBM=40. Thanks

  12. Hi guys. I have been noticing that sometimes while at cruise I would get a random fps drop by over 10fps and it keeps fluctuating highly resulting in it not being smooth. After quite a while the fps would return to stable lock again at 30fps. (fsx set to unlimited and nvidia inspector fps set to 30). This happens especially in VC. i tried changing views  to external and wing views and all is fine. Sometimes it wouldn't be fine too but mainly in happens in VC. Anyone else getting this? I noticed also every time when landing the 777 the fps drops a lot. I don't know why to be honest. I hope patch will some how help with performance. I believe i have quite a decent pc but this fsx thing is getting too much.

My PC specs: (if anyone using similar pc to mine can you please show me your fsx settings so i can try set the same and compare...thanks)

  13.

But did you set BOTH the standard PFD/ND and the pop-up PFD and ND to 15?

If you don't you won't see a difference.

I see no reason why we all shouldn't see an increase in frame rate compared to the NGX, as long as the other variables remain unchanged.

Yes sir. I have done that already but still don't see much difference.

    Thanks

    Swadeep

Prior to PMDG's 777, I flew my 737NGX with an average FPS of 15-20.  After installing the 777, my FPS dropped to 5-8 FPS for both the T7 and 737NGX.  I've played around with the settings for days, carefully followed  Word Not Allowed's tweaking guide and read all the threads relating to performance issues.  I finally had some success last night after updating my Nvidia driver and creating a new Fsx.cfg with the 3 recommended tweaks. I'm seeing 8-12 FPS on average with the 777, but the 737NGX is a bit slower at around 8-10 FPS with default scenery and low to mid FSX settings.  My laptop is definitely sub-par, so I never expected much, but I was somewhat surprised at the decreased performance.

Why would the 777 affect the 737NGX's performance?

Mind sharing your fsx.cfg please? I have similar set ups to you except mine is Ivy Bridge 3770K o'c to 4.5ghz

    Thanks

  14. A lot of what you are describing is conventional FSX behaviour, and nothing to do with the 777 itself.

At cruise, if you have either a) weather shifts, B) clouds loading, c) terrain loading, d) MFDs/PFDs updating with new VORs, e) traffic being generated (in the air, or on the ground -- fly over a big lake and if you have boats up at all.... boom! they're being processed as you get near them! even though you never see them, ditto cars, and airport ground services) below you...... you're going to get an FPS hit.

If you have any other Windows processes running, and there are myriads of them, having nothing to do with FSX, whether you turn most of them off or not (AV, check for updates from various installed softwares or Windows itself, refresh of DNS server/IPconfig renew, etc. etc.)... they're going to contend with the CPU and RAM and HD for access and then.... FSP hit.

Once upon approach, and landing, you're near higher-density scenery, whether you've installed 3rd-party scenery or not (try this near default KJFK at rush hour with and without air and ground traffic at various settings), and it's going to load in, while the HD seeks and loads the textures, and geometry.  FPS hit.  Addition of lights at night time? FPS hit.

On the ground, if you're looking around, whether in the cockpit or not, you're rotating the scene view (some call it scenegraph view) and everything within the horizon of where you are looking -- everything, static and active -- is being swapped in and out of memory to refresh the view with the relevant textures and geometry to represent the angle of view you are looking at.  If you zoom in and out, to a lesser extent.... same thing.  FPS hit.  If you are taxiing on the ground, you are rotating that entire scenery with every turn on the taxiway, and different sets of stuff -- AI, geometry, textures, traffic, ground vehicles, landing and departing aircraft, taxiing aircraft within a certain range, landing aircraft lights turning on, etc. -- are going to have to be swapped in and out, and rendered.  It's not all kept in-memory at the same time, it couldn't be.

If you have anything like TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD or LOD Radius set to anything other than default, you're compounding the amount of all of the above that has to be rendered.  If you have FXAA turned on, and NVidia Inspector set to bypass other settings, you're asking your video card to re-render all of the above twice, or more, for optimization.  Similarly with all the other sampling optimizations. In real-time.

So, yeah..... FPS hits come from all sorts of places. :) Always been true of FSX.

While i appreciate all your explanations, I must say that is was unnecessary as we all (including myself) know about those problems. I think a lot of information are being thrown around here and miscommunications and failure to grasp the point has become inevitable.

Correct me if i am wrong but a lot of people who are having problems here (including myself) is trying to fix this fps issue, not because of failure to realize that heavy add ons affect the fps, but actually because we are seeing more fps hit in the 777 compared to other add on especially the NGX and the reason people are trying to figure this out is because the T7 was claimed to be more performance friendlier than the NGX. Others (including myself) are failing to see this and that's why we are struggling. For example as i mentioned above:

    1. i set the fps to 15 in fmc as suggested. Failed to see any drastic performance improvements.

    2. we understand that the mouse hovering thing causes performance hit and that's is down to FSX behavior. Fair enough. But others (including myself) are  not seeing this hit at all on NGX or other add ons. Its effect is however really strong on the T7. If it was happening to the other add ons too then fair enough but it isn't and that's why we are on, page 13, still trying to figure it out.

    3. Myself, and i and i am sure a few more people, are seeing an effect on the ground too. I have tweaked and T7 has become better but for some reason every time when i land and the wheel touches the ground then fps hit (5-10fps) becomes very obvious including while taxi to the gate. I had one flight where the same thing happened during flight also for a while. While i understand about your explanation about other stuff loadings etc etc, i don't see it happening to NGX or other add ons in worst, if not same, conditions. Hence that's why we are here figuring out what the hell is going on.

I am not blaming PMDG or anything. It's a release candidate as mentioned and i am sure SPs will come and things will be better. But until then we just have to try figure out what's going on. We have to be realistic with the performance we get due to our set ups etc and have to understand that FSX was poorly coded also. I agree with that but having said that we shouldn't have to accept these poor performances with the T7 also when all other add ons and NGX are doing fine and better. I mean why should we when it is supposed to be more performance friendly than the NGX right?

Once again not blaming PMDG. I love their products and I am positive SPs will fix them. We are all just clueless and frustrated (initially) i guess to not know what's going on and have to spend more times tweaking rather than getting to enjoy this bloddy amazing T7 100%  :P

    Cheers

  15. I have done a couple of flights now and all is well except i notice something. Sometime randomly while cruising the fps would drop by 7-10 fps. And that's without the mouse moving also. Other times no drop at all even with mouse moving!! Another instance which happen pretty much all time is once landed the fps just drop for no reason. all the way to the gate. this is really weird and it annoys me not knowing why this is happening. I think something's gotta be done. i must admit that i have been looking forward for the T7 for so long and man did PMDG deliver! finest stuff...but now when i fly it i find myself worrying more about how's it going to be this time in terms of performance rather than actually going straight to enjoyment. At the moment the NGX still performs better for me definitely.

Hope SPs can solve these problems.

    thanks
