  1. I used FS9 for about 4 years, FPS were considerably better as expected
  2. Thanks for the replies. Seems my PC has had it's day and a new one is on the horizon very soon ^_^ I don't use FS a huge amount these days so don't want to spend a silly amount of cash on a new one. Achieving around 25fps with settings on medium-high/AS2012/PMDG 777 and maybe an add on airport or two would be good enough for me. I think my budget would have to be around £500-£600 and a self build would not be an option. Any suggestions would be great! Best Regards, Sam
  3. Hello! I'm not too up to speed anymore with computers, so I'm hoping somebody maybe able to help me. I've been using FSX for a while now with various add ons, usually manage about 20fps with medium-high settings but now I'm slowly starting to struggle to achieve decent FPS especially with the recent additon of the PMDG 777 and having to use VC. Would upgrading my graphics card make much of a difference to FSX and improve my FPS, or is my CPU limiting me? Specs are as follows: Quad Core 2 Q8200 2.33Ghz 640GB HDD 4GB RAM 800MHz Nvidia 9800GT 500W PSU I do beleive it is possible to overclock the CPU, is this easily done and recommended for a relative amateur? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Best Regards, Sam
  4. Hi Damien, thanks for the prompt response. I'll update FSUIPC now and restore all settings to Default, using DWC mode and let you know if I have anymore problems.
  5. EDIT: Added picture to help explain the situation http://i50.tinypic.com/f0vwbo.jpg
  6. Hi all, Ever since getting Activesky 2012 many months ago I've been having a problem with the winds inputted by Activesky. It happens at all stages of flight from takeoff to landing, but more often than not, the wind in FSX is completely different to what Activesky 2012 is trying to input. If I open up Activesky, go to Wx Report and hit 'Refresh AI' it corrects the wind speed/direction in FSX to as it should be, but I have to continuely do this throughout the flight. I'm using a registered version of FSUIPC (Version 4.70b) and FSInn for Vatsim. Any help would be appreciated... Sam Hampson
  7. Hello all, I'm having some strange problems with FSX, that only seems to happen when I fly above 72degrees north (although this may not be the problem). I've tried to fly Tromo - Svalbard 4 times now, none of the flights have been successful. The first 2 times I was getting a problem with FS Real Time, so I uninstalled, updated and re-installed and I no longer get a crash caused by FS real Time, instead I have another problem... After a certain length of time (which seems to be when I pass 72 degrees north), when I press S to cycle views, I only get 'Outside View' and 'Cockpit View'... When I cycle through them, when in cockpitview view, I have to press Shift+1 to bring up the main panel each time. Any ideas what could be going on? Win7 64bit, FSX, PMDG NGX, REX, GEX, Squawkbox/Vatsim and FSRealTime. Thanks, Sam Hampson
  8. Hello, I'm a new PMDG NGX user, and also a new FSX user (previously used FS9). I've found that the 2D panel on the NGX appears to be too 'zoomed out', giving a 'fisheye' look which means it's quite hard to get a visual on the runway in 2D panel view compared to VC/spot view etc. If I press the + key (turning the view from 1.00 zoom level to 1.50 or 2.00) it looks a lot more better, but the viewpoint points down far too much to realistically fly. Does anyone know if it is possible to edit the viewpoint so it is more like PMDG was in FS9? Thank you, Sam Hampson
  9. Hi all, Recently refomatted my PC, upgraded to Windows7 and upgraded from FS9 to FSX. I currently have no add-on's installed, other than the PMDG NGX. However, I'm having a strange problem with the 2D cockpit view (see screenshot below) Bearing in mind I've had FSX a matter of hours, haven't really installed anything or messed around with settings, does anyone know why I may be getting this problem? Sam Hampson
  10. Hello all, My first post here, please be kind :) I've just recently upgraded and reformatted my PC from Vista to Windows7 64bit and I will be re-installing FS9 soon. I would be very grateful if anybody could suggest some 'must have' add-ons for FS9, be it freeware or payware (excluding aircraft and airport scenery). So far I have these two, any additions would be great: FS Real Time Activesky 6 (or is there a more updated / better version in the market?) Thank you
